Well, I was very happy to see that Aliona got to bring out some of her genuine spunky personality in the 3rd part of her program--it was great to see her having fun out there! :yes:
But I am super puzzled as to what exactly she worked on over the summer. The music for her FS is basically her EX music plus the "Meadow" music at the beginning. Some of the choreography is also the same as her EX. And her SP is basically identical to last year. She barely had to learn any new choreography.
So what exactly was she working on?Fixing the lutz edge? Working on the -1Eu-3S combo?
I mean, I'm glad that she did that, but all the other Eteri girls have two new programs this year, so I'm kinda puzzled about what's going on with Aliona. I *really* hope it's because she's been working hard on that triple axel, but if not, maybe she has been struggling a lot more with an injury or puberty (?) than we know about? Hmm..
Anyway, I'm glad to see that many other people seemed to really like Aliona's FS! :yes: It was a relief to see her skate largely cleanly, with upgraded content! And to do it after Sasha laid down those 3 perfect quads! :agree:
In one of her interviews, she did say that the program is still "damp" -- so hopefully I'll like it a lot more when it's much sharper. :yes:

First of all she was injured. It probably took some time to get the full set of triples back... Then she changed her lutz entrance and finally has a slight outside edge. Remember Zhenya has been trying for a year now and it's still e. So that's already a big achievement for Alena. And last but not least she has a new combo in the free.
I think they already work on the 3A. That's why they kept her old SP and transformed her EX into a FS. Because getting healthy, adding new jumps and combos, correcting Lutz and two brandnew programs is a little tough. With familiar choreo it's easier to add in the difficult new content.

The athlete said in the offseason she was allowed to choose the music that she wants to perform to.
Figure skater Alyona Kostornaya was pleased with her performances at the Open Test Skates of the Russian team. The athlete told reporters about this on Sunday after concluding her free program.
"Not everything was as I wanted, but overall I am happy. At first it was hard due to the abrupt change of rhythm (in my program), but now this fast music gives me strength and adrenaline,” Kostornaya said. “As for the competitions, most likely I will go to the Finland Trophy."
“I was given the choice of music I want to skate under, and I chose together with my coaches. They staged it exactly to my liking, so I only feel joy from the execution of my program,” the athlete added.
In the second flight of women's Open Test Skates, Alina Zagitova, Aleksandra Trusova, Anna Shcherbakova and Kostornaya, all pupils of the Sambo-70 school, had the opportunity to perform. “If there was an opportunity, each of us would watch the programs of our classmates, we always suggest something to each other, to help. We are about the same age as Alina, so we communicate on equal terms,” the figure skater added.
Kostornaya is the winner of two stages of last season's Junior Grand Prix, as well as the winner of the Gold in the series finale. She twice performed in the senior Championships of Russia and both times won Bronze medals. In addition, in the 2017/18 season, she became second in the Junior World Championships. She holds the current junior record in the short program - 76.32 points.

Thank you. I hope when she says change content she means insert a 3A. I understand why they aren’t putting it in until she’s consistent with it - the GOE she gets on the 2A makes the jump worth over 4.5 points, and a 3A is only 8 points, so if she URs or falls it’s not even worth it because of the lost GOE and fall deduction. Plus, there is a difference between being consistent in practice, consistent in program runthrus in practice, and consistent in competition. Hoping she can get there this season!

i think she and her team did what was reasonable while recovering from an injury. there are many visible improvements from last season- her jumps are huge and solid, the lutz edge, jump layout, and a new side of musicality being presented with her FS. harder jumps will come in time, but you can't risk re-injury.
i agree the music cuts in her FS are very abrupt and don't necessarily flow. if it were my choice, i think they could have put something together really nicely with just the meadow and eyes on fire, but i understand the concept of what they were going for and i'm happy she enjoys skating to it- you can tell she's having fun.

i feel like im the only one who likes the FP musicthe first part was obv better cuz soft n lyrical suits her so well but i tink the second part is a nice change n i can totally see her rockin out the programme

I am wondering what her dress is going to look like for the LP. Maybe something red? Now that we’ve seen the full program I don’t think the exhibition dress/black leggings look would work at all with the first part.
I also hope she gets a new dress for the angel SP. The other one was beautiful but it’s time for a new dress IMO. Would give the program a fresh look.
