Alena Kostornaia

I can't wait for Alena to skate next weekend!! I have missed her skating so much and youtube videos can only hold me over for so long!! Hopefully she will skate two clean programs!! :cheer2:

Yes, I hope she skates two clean programs and that the judges reward her with the big GOEs and PCS that she deserves!!

I want to see this kind of Aliona expression when the competition is over:

You have too much faith in the judges. They did Scherbakova dirty in her senior debut, and I can definitely see them doing that again...

I hope I am wrong though.

Same, and Anna has a quad. They better not do that to Alena or the claws are coming out [emoji49]

I’m also worried about the scores, since Aliona doesn’t have a quad and hasn’t competed internationally since JGPF (can you believe that was 10 months ago?!)

But I will try to focus on her beautiful performances no matter the scores. I hope she can be satisfied with her skates at Finlandia.

4 days and we finally see Aliona :luv17:

If you've payed for the live stream that is ...

Will be really interesting to see in what shape and mindset Kostornaya is. She looked good in Open Test Skates, but that stress fracture really set her back in training, not even able to learn a new program.
Will the judges be really impartial to reputation and totally partial to pure and honest skating skills? We'll have to wait and see, and no doubt the whole FS world is monitoring every specialist and judges' decision very closely.

I really hope the judges follow the guidelines this weekend, but have fears that Aliona’s scores will be held back due to lesser hype and tech content compared to her peers.

Mainly I hope for a solid debut and strong performances she can be proud of to get her back in the groove of competing. Seems like practices start on Thursday!

The judges better beware...Aliona may look like a little angel, but deep down she is fierce. If she doesn't get the scores she wants she might go full vampire on them:dev3:

All joking aside, I hope that Aliona skates two programs that she is proud of no matter the scores. The only thing that she can control is how she skates. Alena can't worry about how the judges will score her. Although, the judges have always like Alena so maybe she will be scored better.

oh no i didn't know you had to pay for it!! if someone finds another one please share.

judging aside, i too hope she just puts out 2 solid performances and has a great senior debut, no matter the scores or placements. although i do hope it's fair judging, unlike with poor Anna.

I'm equal parts nervous :drama: and excited :cheer: about Aliona's upcoming senior debut!!

All I want is for her to skate two performances that she is happy with! (But I can't help but *wish* that those performances generate huge scores! )

Apparently there is an app for the competition (search for "Skatingfinland") which I downloaded. It has profiles for the skaters, but for some reason there's no photo of Aliona! But I also discovered that you can send virtual flowers to the skaters during the competition. :agree: I will send Aliona TONS of flowers! :cool2:

Her SP deserves 80+ points, a real masterpiece. Excited to see her FS dress but I really hope they don’t do another costume change

since both Anna and Sasha had one, i hope not either, even though a costume change would have been most appropriate for Aliona's Twilight out of all 3 skaters. oh well, i just hope it's not tacky or a rework of her show dress!

I have a feeling the Alena is going to be stronger at this challenger than what she was at the test skates. She has had about a month of solid training without having to worry about traveling anywhere. I wish that we knew if Alena was training her triple axel. She is so consistent with her other triples that I would imagine she would be training it at least in a harness. But then again I can see why wouldn't want to risk another injury.

Good luck to our little angelic vampire!! Skate your little heart out and make those judges give you +5 GOEs:hap10:

I am really looking forward to seeing Aliona in just 2 days!! I hope with another month of solid training she is feeling confident in her technique - especially on the lutz which was great in the SP of the test skates but a bit wonky on both attempts in the LP.

Of course I would love to see her bring out the 3A - if not in competition, maybe during the practices to get used to performing it under pressure
