Congratulations, Alyona 
It's unbelievable what a great competitor she is. She had quite rough practices, and yet she delivered amazing performances in the actual competition, proving what great nerves she has. Also her consistency during competition for the 3A is incredible, thinking that she just introduced this element into her programs. A well-deserved win and looking forward to her next competitions

5/5 for her first 5 triple axels so far. With better GoE on the first, and the 3F! I can see the tech being over 90 around 91/92. This really can be a 165+ program by Worlds, most likely will be for RusNats. And 85 on the SP puts a ceiling of 250. If all of the 3A keep improving and refining it will be soso close between them.

It's just overwhelming to think of the possibilities. There are many outstanding Russian girls who quite frankly don't even have a chance with 4A around. They all score 230 to 260 are most of the Russian girls are between 180 and 210. Unreal.
Congrats to Alyiona on winning her first ever senior Grand Prix event and besting a GOAT in the process.

Wow, Alyona did so good. I couldn’t watch live and I was scared to look at the results page, but once i saw her score I was so happy!! If she keeps skating clean programs like this the judges will HAVE to raise her PCS. If not, I think that people are going to start protesting the ISU lol.
Now that Alena has skated this program with two triple axels clean twice do you guys think that Team Eteri will put one triple in the second half of her program for the GPF or Russian Nats?

I wonder if they'll try to tack on a 3T instead of a double to her first 3A. She makes it look so easy, but I'm sure it would take quite a bit more effort and concentration to make a triple happen.
When Aliona finished her FS today, all I could think was "Wow, I have no words!" 
Our vampire angel was totally ON FIRE today, just like I'd hoped!! SHE TOTALLY SLAYED!!! :dev3:
And improved her personal best!! CONGRATS DARLING!!
But OMG, I'm not sure my heart (or stomach!) can take all this stress and excitement!
Last season, watching seniors was so NOT stressful for me because I had people I liked, but didn't love...but then Aliona had to go and steal my heart :luv17: and now I'm freaking out every time I read about a bad practice :eeking: and I feel like I want to throw up when she goes on the ice!
But it's all worth it to see her skate her heart out like that and end the competition with a huge smile!
So happy she won! Now all she has to do is be on the podium on NHK and she's into the GPF! :agree:
But honestly, I think the experience at IDF, with the bad practices and the excellent result--and two clean 3As in the FS--should give her confidence for the next competition!
Time to break the SP world record!!

I agree, in reality it would only add 0.21 points as she would have to move the 3Lz. Both her combinations are higher BV than a 3A. It's extremely risky to move such a hard element to the second half for so few points.
A loop combo with 3F would be the only reason to do 3A-3T, but then she would have to add another 2A. Does anyone know the last time Aliona did a loop combo?

Alyona Kostornaya is a figure skater from the future. Her skating combines technique and magic.
Alyona Kostornaya is the best figure skater in the French Grand Prix stage.
In Grenoble, she won with a personal record, the fourth best result in the world (236 points) and perfect skating - without any judicial claims (except for the controversial edge call on the flip, which is not considered a mistake).
To beat the world record, Alyona did not have enough points - five, about the same amount she lost in the short program due to an under rotation on the triple Axel. And still, a huge gap separated her from second place (19.94) - the maximum yet in the Grand Prix of this season.

Kostornaya is the first skater who destroys these stereotypes. Who combined the technique and magic of figure skating.

Her skating a couple of years ago didn't look juniorish - in the negative meaning of the word to which everyone is accustomed. Even if we discard physical intangible terms, it never did look childishly, but spectacular - speed, weightlessness, accuracy and airiness of lines, incredible freedom and organicity on ice ... Stop, we agreed that the terms will be tangible.
The only fear for Alyona about the senior season was logical - she doesn't have ultra-si jumps. No, whilst still in juniors, she found an opportunity to win without them - for example, in the Final of the Junior Grand Prix - but among seniors they are now met in complexity. Everything else is for the audience.

You underestimated Alyona Kostornaya in vain: with triple axels she is stronger than Trusova and Zagitova
Its appearance radically changed the numbers in Alena's programs:
• potential technical base in the short program grew up to 37.65 points - no one in the world has more;
• in the free program technical base increased to 70.15 (by 7.92 points compared to last year) - now this is the third difficulty for women after Trusova and Shcherbakova.
But, of course, the main magic of "Triksel" is to work on the reputation of a figure skater with ultra-si elements. It magically helps the judges from a few years earlier to discern that the girl skating in front of them is special.
Although the rule does not work for everyone, and only under one condition, you can’t be dependent on it without gifts 'from above'.
