Alena Kostornaia

Demonstrative ignoring, ostentatious disrespect - in these things, too, little pleasant. Justification of Lisa's behavior by the fact that "well, she didn't beat Alena" doesn't look convincing.
Yes, maybe "bullying" may sound like a strong word to someone but no other word comes to my mind if I were to describe Liza's behaviour. I totally lost all my sympathy for her. I can understand her frustration but this was simply inexcusable.

On a happier note, this is short video made my day..

Speaking of joking around, apparently our little devil has some kind of naughty/inappropriate screensaver on her phone??

I have no idea what this says (GoogleTranslate is no help)--maybe one of our Russian speakers can explain?
Apparently there are swear words..?

LOL, Aliona being Aliona, of course!

I’m not totally sure on the direct translation, but it’s a fairly common motivational phrase that is somewhere along the lines of “do it c*nt, it’ll work out.”

Omg. 😂

Thank you for the explanation!

Oh, Aliona... This is probably part of the reason why some people want to criticize Aliona's character, but personally, I absolutely adore Aliona's naughty/devilish/mischievous side! :agree:

I'm so happy Aliona got to participate in the Bolzano gala, because we've gotten so many great pics and videos! :yes2:

I know! I was so worried we weren’t going to have a stream but then they broadcast a really high quality video the next day (in addition to the fan cams from the day of)

Hoping she’s able to actually rest a bit before getting back to training for Euros!

Speaking of Euros, the schedule is very strange. The ladies don’t compete until Friday but the only official practices on the main rink are way earlier in the week. I wonder when Aliona and team will arrive in Graz...it would be a bit risky to arrive the day before and never get a chance to practice on the main rink, but also arriving too far in advance could throw off their usual training and competition routine. I guess we will find out in just a couple of weeks!

This is a completely wrong translation.

It is very difficult to translate Russian mat (it is much more complex and multifaceted than English filthy language), but I will try(replacing the f-word by "freaking" and "crappy"). In addition, it is a concise, aphoristic phrase that can be interpreted in two ways. Therefore, I will give my interpretation (although I think the majority and Alyona herself will give just such an interpretation)

Do [things/work/whatever]
Freaking
Great

cuz in a crappy way [or with crappy quality] it will work itself out [without your actions]

I agree, this is really Alyona's credo in accordance with which she lives.

I found the translation I used in a few places, not just via a translate tool. I’m not great with Russian idioms, but your translation seems somewhat confusing.

“Do great, do crap, it’ll work out?”

I don’t think perfectionist Aliona would have something that says “do crap it’ll work out” on her phone, unless I’m missing something here.

The closest meaning I found for the first phrase was just “do f*cking good” as opposed to “do good c*nt”

The “crap” here seems to be somewhat of a mistranslation of the first half of the phrase, as I found it used interchangeably with “c*nt”, so perhaps it should read

“Do f*cking good, it’ll work out”

sigh...

It says this: "You must do things very well. That's the only way it makes sense. Because in bad quality, things will turn out by themselves, without your actions."

I was only seeking to find a short and concise phrase in English to match the short and concise phrase in Russian, which portrayed the meaning as closely as I could.

Regardless, the overall intention seems to have been translated, and I think it is hilarious that a 16 year old girl has such messaging on her phone. In the US it would be considered bad imaging to have more untoward messaging in public but I love it!

On another note- idk if this has already been posted but here is smol Aliona trying to tiptoe into a photo

And this is just one of a thousand reasons why I think she's the best thing that’s happened in the last fifty years in the world of figure skating.

I only wish that she will stay healthy and that she may delight us for many years again

Don't know if it was mentioned before, so I put it here.

Aliona stated in her latest interview she's going to skate till she's 21 and switch to the competitive horse riding.
She supports the idea the modern FS is more good for youngsters and one needs to switch to other sport in due time.

Did she actually say that? Are you sure it was translated correctly? I don’t think she wants to do competitive horse back riding

Some statistics on Alyona:

"During her career so far, she has competed 20 tournaments and won 20 medals, of which only two were Bronze medals won in junior status in the senior Russian Championships.

She made two hundred jumping elements and fell twice. (Well, one more time on a sequence). 59 clean Flips (1 - UR and fall), 38 clean Lutz's (1 - fall and 1 - step out), 50 double Axles (and the only once in life - a butterfly), Salchow - cleanly 20 out of 20, Toeloops - cleanly 55 out of 55 , Rittbergers - 19 cleanly and 1 UR. Having learned the triple Axel, she immediately went to 2 in her free program, in her second senior tournament she inserted a third in her short program and landed 14 of 14, two of which are UR'ed and one UR + step out. Out of 120 spins, 118 are level fours and only two are third. Of the 40 sequences, 2 are two's, 20 are three's (juniors were limited at three) and 18 are level fours.

She starts off and does everything, always, in any condition and under any circumstances. And how, how does she do this??? And this combined with a pathological perfectionism, when even small failures on ice are perceived so painfully ..."

Sir, there is no need to be so rude. I translated to the best of my ability. Our translations have the same meaning. This is a fan page for Aliona, not a language course.

Sir, your “translation” belittles the figure skater’s reputation. How presumptuous you need to be to try to translate (not being Russian-speaking) Russian obscene aphorism (probably the most difficult thing to translate), where it is very easy to make a mistake, and an error can radically distort the essence of the aphorism and hit the reputation.

That must have been difficult for her to be friendly with someone who was bullying her earlier this year.. maybe Liza apologized? I doubt it..

They spent time togheter during the event so everthing seems in the past
