Alena Kostornaia

"Once she was a European champion, but now she is nobody."

i will probably get a warning for this, but f*ck that group. that entire team is so incredibly toxic, these are literal ADULTS speaking like this. what a disgusting comment to make about a CHILD. these athletes are so disposable, they are nothing to them. once they are off the podium they are worthless. they don't care about who they are as humans, only results and medals, and how this team treats students when they leave or stop bringing in the hardware is nothing short of toxic and narcissistic.

after the doping allegations, what happened to Kamila at the olympics, and not only how they are treating Aliona now but most if not all former students, i am done with this coaching team. its inexcusable.

at this point i honestly don't care if she never makes another podium again or even if she quits skating, i just want her far, far away from Team Tutberidze.
I cannot like this post enough. After this season and the ***show at the Olympics I am so glad that Aliona is hopefully done with TT for good. In an ideal world I’d love to see her with good programs again skating for herself with a smile but yeah, most of all I just want her to be healthy, happy, and with people who respect and value her the way she (the way ANY skater) deserves to be respected and valued.

Tutberidze literally shamed her in an interview for not training and competing at RusNats with a broken arm, saying Aliona "missed all chances in sport". How could you possibly want to stay after your own coach talks like this about you? Still, Aliona did stay and she did train with that fracture. Well, it turns out this was an incredibly stupid/dangerous idea because then she promptly broke her second arm.

And whatever happens, Aliona IS a European Champion and a GPF Champion. Yes, with her talent she should have won more and her luck has been terrible but she's not a nobody by any means. And even if she had never won anything in her life — what a horrible way to talk about your teenaged athletes, as if they're worth nothing, as if they only count as a way to win medals and earn fame for the adults. Disgusting.
literally no different than how they treated Kamila at the olympics. that poor girl had just experienced the most traumatic week and day of her entire life and all Eteri could say to her was she gave up. they really are nothing to them.

As soon as Eteri said "if Aliona can miss all her chances in life and still be successful good for her" I was just waiting to kick her out. Comments like these are so rude it's unreal. Aliona just kept her head down and said nothing because she knows she has no power and really it isn't worth it. Maybe some day she can write a book with all the details on Sambo, can't miss all your opportunities, right Eteri? It's so weird because Eteri said herself how she didn't train when she was younger and was 1000x lazier than Aliona has ever been....but clearly she was able to find some success somewhere somehow. To be so blind to your own life makes me chuckle.

does anyone know what Aliona said on her instagram story or if it's about the coaching change?

Aliona commented on her last post (the one where she congratulated Eteri….):

"It wasn't my initiative, Eteri Georgevna decided so"

Google translate doesn't work that well on the story but it seems to be unrelated.

I found this on Twitter, saying something like that yes:

Speak out girl, speak out.

I wonder if she means the birthday post or the situation in general, or maybe both. I always thought the skaters at TT always write very formal thank you post whenever they achieved something, like somebody else writes the text for them...

In some point I agree with Eteri ... she could be great maybe one of the best of all time ... but she doesn't wish that with all her soul like Anna does and for a coach like Eteri or any teacher is frustrating ... She makes me remember Elena I. (dance) ...perfection but never at the top of her true potencial

Now I'm going positive:
_After the olympics ... to the figure skating world the eteri's group is bad... so she being separate from them can be good .. because doping will haunt them and the abuse
_ Her new coach doesn't have anyone now (I don't like the choice) .. so I believe she will try to adapt to her and she will get PCs

But I would want her to go Lambiel ... I think he could rebuild her ....yes impossible

we don't know that.

Aliona is very, very injury prone and that is one of the biggest factors that has held her back the last several years. she had complications and a long recovery from covid. she has a mental block when it comes to ultra si. we also know at this point Eteri isn't trustworthy and i take everything she says with a grain of salt.

it's not that she doesn't necessarily want it, but i can completely understand at this point she is probably feeling defeated to some extent after everything she's dealt with.

Also, frankly, having had injuries is almost certainly a large part of why she has a mental block around elements like 3a and quads. Many skaters have said that after serious injuries they were more scared about doing difficult jumps than before. They know firsthand how badly things can go wrong.

And Eteri + Daniil have been hammering away at her confidence this whole time, which doesn’t help.

Sigh. Nothing Eteri does surprises me anymore these days. I know Russia won't release her, but is it wrong to hope she defects? To never see her again in international competition would be a tragedy.
Not defect but transfer. I have a country in mind and alyona has missed the last 2 nationals so maybe it's not impossible. Everyone now knows if you transfer it's to continue your career and to get International starts it's not that you don't love your homeland anymore.

I want more than that for her. I want her to rise like a phoenix and beat all of them, because she is the best and most beautiful of them all.

Why not? She's of no particular value as a medal contender.
Just two years ago aliona was the best lady skater in the world with the best skating skills by far and the most beautiful skater as well. But releasing her to compete for another country is highly unlikely this is not like the nastya situation who did not skate internationally for 3 years and releasing her was the right thing to do after screwing her career for years. Nastya can maybe score 215 points tops next season aliona can score 240 points if she ever gets her triple axle back and her skating skills scores back in the 9s. But because she's missed two national championships in a row maybe she can start the process of leaving especially call it emergency situation and since Russia is not competing at Worlds and maybe not next season it could be considered an emergency situation and she could transfer to a country like Georgia which would be perfect for her because she knows everybody there and would become #1 there easily. Unlikely to happen but why not give it a shot? I mean if KV was really given medicines by a doctor that caused this positive test that ruined her olympics and probably her career wouldn't she have and emergency situation to transfer countries? These girls have to learn to watch out for themselves and their parents have to help them with that and not let the coaches and doctors do everything. The coaches at TT are great at coaching but that's it.
