Alena Kostornaia

Who is he?

Nice picture.
This is from KostornaiaTeam, so I would say, it's more likely to be someone from the team?
Maybe, someone who brought her flowers or a gift on the occasion of the International Women's Day?
I read that it's a bank holiday in Russia and that, being a Tuesday, the previous Monday (yesterday) was declared a bank holiday too (what we call a bridge in France), and the previous Saturday was declared a normal working day to compensate.

He could be boyfriend material. :) He could be a lot of things. I want Aliona to make new friends and I'm sure she will. I am hoping this change of venues is really good for her in more ways than one.

I can't see Aliona having problems finding new friends: she really enchants people with her personality and spirit.
I think she's magnetic and has a natural way of broadcasting her emotions around her that her mood is contagious (even a bad mood).
It's what makes her such a great presence on the ice when she's confident and can let it go not worried by the thecnique.

And by friends i don't mean a court of admirers: she can gather that every day just smiling at people while walking the dogs. :ROFLMAO:

Aliona is already a better version of Loena.
Of course she is (assuming she's in good health and can train well)
I was trying to indicate a typology of skater without ultra c but really enjoyable to watch and with good scoring.
But now that you made me really comparing the two, I tried to visualized a faster Loena with better triples and... amazing

What I hear of the new coach is not promising.
Names apart, I think what she needs is new and more entertaining programs.
Daniil/Eteris programs are sometime good and sometime not but her team is going for the win, so what is important is that they have score maximization as the 1st priority and that makes all of them almost standard with different music and transitions (maybe)
She needs program where maximization is not forgotten but is on par with beauty and entertainment.

I believe this is also what she aspires to.

"We congratulated our Alyonushka on March 8! 🌷 Since Alena has now begun to train and slowly recover, we considered it necessary to give her a certificate at @respace_spa, which is located in Moscow City, where she can go any day after a series of intensive workouts. One of Alena's bouquets from us is also for Elena Germanovna."

"During the break between trainings, Alena handed our bouquet to Elena Germanovna"

That's really nice to see. And thanks for the translation.

It looks to me like Aliona is going into the new coaching situation with grace and a beautiful attitude.

Why do some people on this thread think Elena Gubanova won't be a "good fit" for her? (I mean, from the comments I've seen, that's putting it mildly). Sorry to be "out of the loop" on this, but I'd like to know.

I wish her all the best in her new coaching situation. May they find that balance between being worked too hard and risking injuries, and the push she needs to be her best, added to her own motivation.

If you mean Elena Germanovna Buianova, then I can't forget her "results" with Polina Tsurskaya and Maria Sotskova which don't exactly inject optimism into my veins. I'm quite certain that Aliona thrives under firm hand and in an environment full of "constant competition" which is something Polina previously said she had problems with and moved to a "more relaxed environment". I'm quite worried that such more relaxed environment won't lead to results we are all expecting and hoping for.

Let´s give her a chance, she didn´t really have a lot of options since she was asked to leave. She hasn´t really been taken care of at TT since she came back, and i´m just so happy to see that she is somewhere where it seems they care of her. What a nice thing to give her a spa gift card so she can relax a little between between all the hard work. I think it could motivate her. Remember when Alena was back at TT, she wasn´t given flower or a spa treatment, it was like "Get your 3A back ASAP or we won´t have you". So, we still have to see how it goes, but first impressions is better than expected.

Not to mention that Buianova's team definitely is not "more relaxed environment".

On the technical side, Buyanova's students tend to develop chronic underrotations and she's given interviews that indicate she doesn't think it's a problem and not something they should bother working on. Aliona is already starting to struggle with rotations when she's not in top shape so this worries me a fair bit. Also, Buyanova has never been shy about body shaming her students but I imagine Aliona has already dealt with that at Team Tut.

I think if she stays healthy we will see improvements next season even if she can't get out of Russia I bet we see a higher level of triples.

If she broke her hands trying to do the triple axel I will be even more upset. They put too much pressure on Aliona when she went back with that ridiculous apology tour last year and having to do the 3A.

She doesn't have to have her great Ultra jump to matter. I hope she gets it back because it would put her up another level but she doesn't have to have it I mean look like kaori just did at the Olympics without an ultra jump scored over 230 points. Anna did not have her quads for much of the season but she kept competing and kept winning and then got them back just in time at the Olympics. I also hope without the massive pressure she was under at TT will free aliona up at cska and she can let her talent flow.

I agree. Alenas jumps, regardless of the 3A, always impressed me. She get great goes on them. She is lovely to watch, and she can still score high only with a 2A if she can keep up with her other triples and polish her programs. Also, minimum age for senior will likely be raised so I think she can have some some seasons where she is among the top athletes. When that said, all I want for her is to feel good about herself and skating, and give us good skating moments.

She was body shamed at TT? Publicly?

We've got to hope for the best here. There's a real chance AK could end up with excellent programs and have a great comeback season. whether it's just a domestic season or an international season remains to be seen.

But I also feel like aliona was smothered at TT by five or six fantastic girls around her and that probably affected her knowing she was not the favorite anymore.

Also I don't think aliona was expelled.i think she just got transferred to cska after discussions with them. Now this girl has a chance to blossom again.

She should have the best one of the best 2A's in the world.

I'm not sure how much the age limit increase will help her. I think it goes to 16 that's the proposal and then a couple years later possibly to 17. They have to vote on that this summer. If the increase goes to 16 right away that means a lot of girls won't be senior eligible that right now are seeing your eligible going into next season. I think they should work that in slowly.
