Alexander Petrov

I'm getting bad vibes... I so hope that I'm wrong. :(

Edit:
Okay, I need to stop being anxious about that fall. Positive thoughts...

Edit:
I found video of him doing some axel jumps during Mura's run-through. 3A and then 2A. Both clean. So his ankle should be fine.

Good to hear.

I tend to always get a knot of anxiety in my stomach - I feel quite queasy - whenever my Favourites are about to skate/compete. But in my case this is just business as usual, and not any specific ominous feelings.

I still feel uneasy...

:( Mistake on the 3A and maybe an edge call on the flip.
Looks like that fall in the practice session really did affect him. I wonder if he is hurt somewhere.

PCS also not good.

If he's really not right physically, he did what he could then. I'm at least glad that he's taken it in his stride. The combo was also well done.

PCS to me is a concern. The program seems to be well received by the audience but the judges thought otherwise.

I failed and did not wake up in time to watch... Did Sasha seem dissapointed with himself?
He was disappointed about the step-out on the axel but not terribly disappointed. It was like a "sigh, stuff happens" kind of thing. He took it in his stride and tried to be as positive as possible in his response to the audience. But after he saw his marks, I think he became more disappointed. And it seems there's some surprise from his coach/choreographer about why the marks were so low.

In relative terms he did not skate poorly at all. Just one step-out. Bu lowest PCS with just a minor error like this means the judges must really dislike either him or the program.

Hopefully it was the program the judges disliked since we stills have the FP to go.
But, the combo was something positive at least. He has had some problems with it this season.

This is probably why no other Russian man wanted this GP. Two years in a row Sasha is the only Russian in the mens comp. It's just unfortunate for him that Mishin chose this GP yet again.

Just watched Sasha's SP (haven't had time to watch anything else from the men's SP yet):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bN654SnutkU

Loved it - and, by the sound of it, so did the audience. Oh, and I am more & more convinced that he isn't blowing a kiss, but casting a spell - before it was just wishful thinking on my part, I confess, but now I actually think it - he makes some conjuring movement about his head first, and then he blows it out. It's fire magic, after all.:) Oh, and love his dancey moves as he was coming off the ice.:)

Yeah, he's not blowing a kiss, he's casting a spell.

He took it really well, the mistake on the axel. Great attitude. I really doubt Sasha's terribly upset with himself.
Those marks though...

Anyway, like Skater01 said, let's see what kind of PCS they dish out for the FS.

As for those dancey moves, it's like his EX was at Panin Memorial you know, very "dancey". And that EX was also approved by Zhulin himself (he liked the video of it on instagram).
IMO THIS is one of his qualities that his coaches need to allow him to showcase, he can move really well (whole body movement, not just footwork) but the programs don't necessarily reflect that.
