Towards the end of his FS when he was kind of starting to "run out of gas", his coach yelled something REALLY loud! Did anyone hear what she said? I'm assuming it was something like "Come on, you can do it" or similar? Maybe it was only possible to hear it in the arena?
I just updated Sasha' s OP with all sorts of video links, data and so forth. Please check it out! Because the OP owner was a banned person, I made myself the owner for now, but if any of you would like to be the OP owner, please say!
If there are any errors, or if there are important links that I missed, please tell me and I will get it fixed.
Congratulations to Alexander! Lord Samarin again crushed all his rivals, and showed who is the real lord here. He leads after SP with strong 103.11 points!
The European Championships (Moscow, January 15-21) go first. Russia has 3 spots there. Kolyada and Samarin participate automatically being the first two in the Russian Nationals, the third one should be announced soon by the National Figure Skating Federation. Likely it will be Voronov, but Aliev can be as well.
Those two who will get best places there, are supposed to get the Russian Olympic spots.
According to IOC decision, the deadline for Olympic team announcement is January 28. In this particular case that means within a week after the European Champs.
In his interview (link, in Russian only) he said yesterday (well, still today for America) he had had an almost immediate right boot failure, his protecting silicone insert had been displaced, he had almost lost feeling of his right boot. He did what he could, using only muscles and ankle joint for landing jumps.
He brought his sincere apologies to all fans and stakeholders, and promised to deliver what he really can and is able to at the European Championships in Moscow.
