Alina Zagitova

Lol, ya, I was wondering why she looked so pleased at the end! I tot she was just trying to strike a pretty pose despite losing. [emoji23][emoji24]

The last challenge was to get as close to 100 seconds as possible. Think they were saying that skaters shld hv an internal “beat” and shld hv won that.

She was fiercely competitive in the spinning challenge. Taking Wakaba’s spot to re-challenge the dude, lol! You go, gal!

Hope there will be subs soon! She said so many things which drew a reaction from the crowd.

When she got a rematch I was so happy for her, when she was first bargaining her seconds handicap with him was so funny. And she had great technique there, never lost form.

That last one foot slalom was just WOW. And I was thinking please don’t give Eteri any more practice ideas, but maybe she already had that one [emoji23][emoji23].

English speaker checking in. I only have a very limited knowledge of Russian and Cyrillic, so correct me if I'm wrong, Russian speakers!

She does indeed say Georgievna. I bet you're listening for a soft G as in 'George Orwell.'

Rather, listen for a hard G as in 'gorgeous.'

Let me know if you hear it! :)

Yes, yes! I hear it now, lol, thanks! Hard “G” was a good hint. I was listening for obvious “V” (as in “give”) and “na” sounds but I guess she rolled it all in. Now i can’t unhear it! [emoji1323]

Didn’t quite get why they needed to give a handicap though. The other team looked strong too. [emoji23]

Ya, the one foot slalom was superb! I think she was too anxious to win the first time, or she wld hv made it; she was soo close! I’m thinking they must have this in practice; she looked too good.

I thought about that too  She was like the main star of the show, even when she was not competing the camera man looked for her, to capture all her reactions. You go girl, even the camera loves you :luv17:

The whole TV show is now on YouTube too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtJJiynHZzI

They really loved Alina, she got the most reaction shots and questions asked of all the skaters. And she is a fierce competitor, wanted to win all of it, and her face when she lost was funny.

Loved how she never watched curling before and thought the objective was to skate to the end of the rings fastest, her bit with Wakaba is hilarious. Kaetlyn saved the Canadian pride by being the first to actually get near the center ring.

The curling part was hilarious! I didn't expect her to not know curling basics.
And that look on her face after they removed the blindfolds, that sheer happiness...I KNEW she just saw dogs.:luv17:

He's so funny, especially given the context
I think I'm becoming his fan.:luv17:
OMG, I loved Daniel before but now I love him even more. I don’t know Russian but someone translated his convo with Alina during the FS results. Alina asked if she beat the world record and he says something like “no, but not bad for your first olympics.”

Yay! Happy it worked for you! My dad speaks Russian and I've been trying to learn more to speak with him (and of course, better understand figure skating videos). :)

Thank you so much for the Youtube link. I couldn't watch the longer video on VK because I don't have a sign-in for it.

Anyone who can spin around like she did :dance2: (TWICE - and with a 5 or 6 spin handicap) AND do the one-skate obstacle course  should be able to reinvent the rules of curling if she wants to

They all had such a great time --- I hadn't realized that Wakaba Higuchi was going to be there too! - I had only thought it was Alina, Katelyn, and Jaiver. I am drawing a blank on who the male Japanese skater was - I know him and remember him competing but ????

The end with the dogs was :luv17: :luv17: :luv17: :luv17:. I loved seeing the pictures of Katelyn with her dog too! (and the footage of Katelyn working out --- she is a BOSS too!)

Alina is a FIERCE competitor at all times.
- does "spinning" thing twice
- reinvents the rules of curling
- obstacle course - I liked the way she hit her thighs before the second attempt.
- also she must be quite strong - that Akita she was holding looked pretty hefty.

Interesting, what did she say about fake Hanju ???

Her face was -whaat ?:scratch2::laugh:

Alina is extremely competitive! If she gets it from her dad I bet game night at the Zagitov's is pretty intense!

I first saw curling during the Sochi Olympics and that was my WTH moment, the only reason I could guess the rules was because I lived in Italy for many years as a kid and they had a game called bocce that is basically the summer Olympics version of curling 🥌[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]. Alina being clueless was really funny.

Also her face when she saw the Hanyu clone [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]the TV camera couldn’t get enough of that. They really loved her on this show, and for all the existing language barriers, she was fearless, speaking a lot and having major fun. I loved when she beat her thighs too, like she does before a skate, Alina is such a natural born competitor.

Kaetlyn’s work out was just wow, she is super strong and had a fun personality too. They all interacted great on this. What they showed from her Instagram feed was super cool too. Javi is always fun, and he gave Alina some tips. Wakaba’s participation surprised me too since they didn’t heavily advertise her in advance, and she is a great sport.

The end with the dogs was just pure ❤️, Alina is indeed very [emoji1320]. I like how she has a methodic approach to every task she faces, she is always consistent in her execution and improves her performance by getting to know the exercise. All great qualities that make her such a great skater.

That’s so cool, I admire the Russian language so much, it has great sound and rhythm. Wish I could have a first hand coach like your Dad to learn it from.

You’ll be speaking with Alina in no time.

I thought that handicap was unfair too, but they always do this on this show with professional athletes. I guess ISU is making their rules [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Thank to this show I discovered another Alina and I must say that I like her personality.

Indeed she is a great competitor after all she is Olympic champion and it's not for nothing XD

Will need to wait for the Japanese speakers here. But from my very limited reading of the subs, she couldn’t find a word at first then blurted out that he is “strange/weird”, like doubtful of this “Hanyu”.

Poor Alina - first she had to be bombarded with "Fake Hanyu" :eeking: and then try to figure out the rules of curling. Come on now, that's too much.

I loved the looks on Alina & Katelyn's faces when they saw the dogs - like a couple of kids in a candy store. I hope the dogs erased the memories of "Fake Hanyu"!
