I think we may all need to be on standby for a new Alysa Liu short program announcement.

Human remains were discovered in Los Angeles inside of an impounded Tesla car registered to the guy (David Burke aka d4vd) who sings in her SP "This Is How It Feels".

She's apparently deleted her program announcement from her social media (I haven't checked, I'm just taking the gossip as gospel.)

That is horrific. The poor victim RIP! I hope that her loved ones find some closure, if that is even possible! 😔

As to Alysa, I would urge her to change the music ASAP if I could. Whatever the artist's involvement or not, Alysa surely would not want such a tragic connection, extremely indirect as it is, to either herself, or her potential Olympic short program!

She may go back to last year's short rather than try and rework the new one with a different piece of music.

Thoughts and prayers to the girl and her family. Obviously as yet details are limited but from what I have read elsewhere it sounds... oh so bad.

this is my thought too, i think she'll go back to last year's SP. it makes the most sense at this point.

absolutely sick situation from what i've read, no words to describe it. i hope they throw the book at him.

ETA neither of her 25-26 programs are listed in her ISU bio, i'd assume they were there previously?

Holy cow. Definitely hope Lui distances herself from this music choice, since this season doesn't need any more negative media attention. I hope that they investigation would shed light on what happened to the poor girl.

Given the details of the case, I wouldn’t be surprised if she went back to last years’ program. This isn’t the usual artist drama; it’s a literal murder case, and a pretty gruesome one at that. She could easily go back to Promise, and she’s still skating to Laufey like she wanted. But we’ll just have to wait and see what she does.

I mean realistically she has to change it. This artist himself was not particularly famous as an actual person; his entire identity is now this case. His music just trended in itself and it blatantly contained revelations of his intentions. She is shooting for Olympic podium and as an American it will get millions of views. In the mainstream those 2 performances would single-handedly define her legacy as it does for any skater who takes an OLY medal.

Its a shame she is either going to be forced to skate an old program or come up with something new during an Olympic season. I am sure she wants a new program, but it would be difficult and potentially risky at this point.

Checked her Instagram. She has deleted the post from there of her costume/program announcement.

Agreed. What a horrific case, I feel so awful for that poor girl and her family and friends, and hope her killer is brought to justice.

For Alysa, going back to last year's SP would probably be the easiest choice, but I could also see her using a different solo Laufey song from the same album as Promise if she really wants something fresher. I think the album title track Bewitched could work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LS3Hc37qG28

Alysa had 2 short programs made for her. She picked Promise for the her short and other for exhibition.

Oh my goodness. How horrific. Wise to change for her well-being.

Such horrible, horrible case, I hope the family and friends of the victim can find justice and closure.

As for Alysa, keen to see what she'll come up with as her new SP (and with a better dress as well I hope...)

Side note, interesting to see that even the Australian news outlet ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) has an entire article about this:

I am so glad that Alysa and her team nixed her current SP due to the tragic events now unfortunately associated with the artists and music! My heart goes out to the young victim and her loved ones! 🙏🏼

Alysa seems to be a very strong personality, I think that she and her team will come up with something great for a new SP. She had previously stated that both her programs and costumes were works in progress, so I'm sure that by the end of the GP season she will have come up with something vibrant, fresh and new, both in her costumes and her programs! I hope that, like last season, she'll just get stronger and stronger with each competition, then skate lights out with both of her new programs when it counts the most! ✨❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥✨

"I hear a symphony" (perhaps some nice cover) and "Everybody loves somebody sometimes" would be similar in tune and tempo to her scrapped SP music. I think this season's SP was more or less the same in theme and style as the last season's one. I liked her last season's SP, but it sounds like she's moved on.
