Alysa Liu

What an amazing last year for Alysa. 🙀💯💪👍🎊 World champion with fantastic performances at worlds GPF champion and now Olympic champion. All well deserved and one of the main things in figure skating is not to beat yourself. Alysa did not and she was clutch. And I think she really benefits from her attitude of she wants to win but it's not the end of the world if she doesn't. Others felt the pressure today and skated like they were feeling the pressure in ways that Alysa does not.

There was pressure on Alysa because Isabeau was not a factor and Amber bombed the short program. America had not won an individual gold medal in figure skating which was a surprise to that point. So Alysa really came up clutch all the way around. 👏

Some people are complaining about her being Olympic champion. But who else could you give it to with Kaori and Ami making mistakes? Alysa was rock solid while others you might say beat themselves while Alysa Liu did not. Congratulations Alysa! 💯💪🎊🌹🎈😺

She's only 20 but Alysa has had two different careers as two different people up to age 16 and then age 19 on. Remarkable. 🤔😲😎 And one of the most important aspects of being a figure skater is availability and Alysa it seems never misses an event she is scheduled to compete in. If she wants the longevity in her competitive career she can compete for many more years.

I applauded Alysa when she retired- she looked so miserable over those last few months. I was delighted when she returned, and though I've been cheering her every step of the way, this was beyond what I could have imagined when she first came back. She is a breath of fresh air and may she skate as long as she finds joy in this. I do wish she could give some of this to Amber

Had to dig up my credentials to celebrate Alysa's big win here. Feels like just yesterday we were applauding the artistic improvements she had made in the 2021 off-season after first starting to work with Massimo, as shown off in the Tchaikovsky program that won her the 2021 Peggy Fleming Trophy 🥹 Her comeback has been an inspiration and a joy to follow!

The hairdresser who created Alysa’s hair is in St Louis.

Just coming back to this post as it encapsulates my view on Alysa, I am happy to see how Alyssa came back and happy to see the new crop of athletes .

I still am happy Russian athletes have come back too and hold all the greats of the past in high esteem.

Alysa has something else too she has mental power and belief and an inner joy that she brings out externally during her programs. Most figure skaters are tight and tense and not happy looking. It's just the opposite with Alysa.
