American Idol 4/24-4/25 -- and beyond??

yeah she didn't do as well in the crowd as some of the other have... she almost snapped a kids arm off trying to shake his hand lol

oh well, she'll get a lot of practice in during the tour I'm sure

yeah she didn't do as well in the crowd as some of the other have... she almost snapped a kids arm off trying to shake his hand lol

That I DID notice.... See, I just think this whole sing-and-high-five-or-whatever-the-audience at the same time is just a bad idea all the way around. It's too hard to do both at the same time, especially given the type of song she was singing and the fact that NONE of these people have extensive experience. (Well, except for Melinda, but notice she has the brains to stay on the stage and not try to multi-task. At least so far....)

yes but she was a backup singer, they're supposed to stay BACK away from the crowd anyway ;)

Well Blake tried to walk her down the stairs and she pushed him away...
Isn't it funny what we all see?   I saw Blake walk her down the stairs, no, no I saw Blake pushing her down the stairs. Yep, that's what I saw.

hey if he wanted to do that that just proves he's a weenie, cuz she didn't lose her balance ;)

Here's the video on youtube and I don't see Lakisha pushing Blake away. I see him and her being very gracious to each other.

Lakisha's Last Song

as I said - I didn't think it really happened, it was teh drama that I wanted lol ;)

Toni............I think it was Melinda who was the back-up singer........I could be wrong, though...:) 42

Anyone know WHO she's done backup for? I'm not doubting her credentials at all, I'm just curious....

I don't know, though I'm sure you could find out with a bit of research on her fan sites that are no doubt out there

it's funny the more seasons there are the less involved I am in teh AI fandom... but the more into it my parents are... it's odd...

Been on a few, but nothing yet. I just find that a bit odd, given that when Brandon Rogers was still on, we were CONSTANTLY being told who all HE had done backup for. Melinda must have worked with at least a few people of at least some note, because it is mentioned in a couple of places that she has done "session work in recording studios", so obviously these people would have recording contracts to some degree.

Fun Fact: Geography would seem to favor Melinda to win it. I had forgotten that she's from Tennessee. Kelly was from Texas, Ruben was from -- Alabama??, Fantasia was from North Carolina (as was Clay), Carrie from Oklahoma, and Taylor -- isn't he from the south/southeast region someplace? (I kind of faded in and out during Season 5) -- the indication seems to be, if you come from somewhere where they speak with a twang of some sort, you've got a good chance of winning American Idol... Jordin's from Arizona and Blake from Washington; previous history does not work in their favor....

Yeah, I thought it was either Alabama or Louisiana re. Ruben....

Melinda has done backup for Aaron Neville and CeCe Winans; once I read that, I do remember that being mentioned on the show at some point but they certainly don't play up her "resume" like they did Brandon's; I guess Mr. Neville and Ms. Winans just aren't "a-list' enough for most people.....

Show, I'll get in trouble if I said who it was. You know SPOILERS!!!
I just LOVE knowing ASAP who gets cut, who wins gold in skating, etc. My daughter doesn't understand me AT ALL, it drives her crazy when I call my friend in Texas just to get the scoop before the rest of California and then refuse to tell her because I know she really doesn't want to know. But I've just GOT to know!!! I cannot wait!

Melinda is still my favorite by a mile. That woman could sing the phone book and I'd buy the CD.

I beg your pardon! My wife has her hair done at CeCe's beauty shop -- knows "Papa" Winans well. :)

No offense intended..... I was just trying to make the point (rather clumsily, apparently :) ) that every time Brandon came along, it was "back up for Mariah, backup for Britney, etc." but you never heard anyone say "back up for Aaron Neville, back up for CeCe Winans, etc", except I think during one brief portion, and it (IIRC) was never mentioned by the judges except to say merely "backup singer"

now that you mention it I remember CeCe being mentioned as well...

as for knowing or not - I try not to read this thread until AFTER the result is given... I just assume this thread will contain spoilers on Wednesday night

Jonny...........totally agree with you about John Lennon's ballad. Never thought it was that much of a memorable song...........I'm sticking to my top two as Melinda and Jordine...........Phil's gotta go. He's got a nice voice, but there's something "creepy" about the way he looks and acts. Love Blake.....my bottom two will be Chris and Lakisha..........she's got a great voice, but for me, no personality worth remembering........42

Okay.....You must be kidding! John Lennon's song "Imagine" is one of the classic songs of all time. It's simple, but beautiful. Of course, no one can sing it like John Lennon. Blake pretty much murdered it. I have never heard anyone say "Imagine" is not memorable - of course Blake's interpretation was anything but memorable!

well there are at least three on this board who aren't overly impressed with Imagine...

we all have our likes and dislikes... it's what makes teh world so diverse...
