American Idol - Season 7

which one?

the first one was "Jesus Take the Wheel" (well after her AI single)

then came "Wasted," "Don't Forget to Remember Me" (makes me cry) and "Before He Cheats" which all were on her first album

then from her second she had "Some Hearts" and "All American Girl" (so far these are the singles I know of)

and then from Disney she has "Ever Ever After" which is from Enchanted. The music video is cool because for part of it Carrie is an animation in the kingdom of Andelasia.

This will tell you how out-of-the-loop I am with what goes on with the Idols after each season. I had no idea Carrie had that many singles! The only one I've heard is "Before He Cheats"!

I thought David A. did the best job with the Dolly Parton material. It was a song I am not familiar with, but he put lots of feeling into it and sang with such conviction. I did not like Micahel Johns at all. It reminded me of a bad Michale Boulton rendition - who I can't stand most of the time. He sang with from his throat. Not good.

Syesha's version of "I'll always love you" was pretty hohum and expected. She should have sang something different.

Country tunes are hard to do at best. Not everyone is suited to them.

Ramiele gone =yes = next up Christy Lee

I pretty much agree, tho ironically the other night was the first time I actually kind of liked Ramiele, tho that was in part due to some performances from others that night that I absolutely DESPISED; hers was at least tolerable. Given who's left, I can't possibly see Kristy Lee hanging on another week. And once she's gone, I think it's going to get tricky, for me at least -- I have a feeling that at least one person that I REALLY like is going to go home long before someone else who's got some inexplicable following but I DON'T like. Again, not mentioning names here.....:scowl::sheesh: [Actually, regardless of votes, Ramiele should have been sent home just for wearing that hideous ensemble... It looked like Chikezie left some clothes behind and Ramiele decided to try them on... If you're as small as she is, wearing stuff 12 sizes too big does you no favors....]

As to albums, I have both of Fantasia's and recently got Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" -- was not much of a fan of Kelly until she released this one; there's a lot of terrific stuff on there. I said a couple of times last season that I'd buy Jordin's, but I'm not thrilled at all with the single so probably won't. Of the current crop, I'm already eagerly awaiting Brooke White's -- tho I agree with Wrmly that I'd like it to suit her style. Would probably also buy David Cook's and Carly's if I liked the singles. This is actually the first season where they've had more than one contestant whose album I would buy.

I think Brooke is the first of the favorites that will be bounced off the bubble... though her fans might vote hard this next week just because of her being in the bottom three this week...

Kristy will probably be next, followed by Syesha or Brooke or Jason....

ok so I was on the phone for most of the show tonight, Saw the first three performances and that's it... oh and Brooke at the end...

did I miss anything in between Jason and Brooke worth mentioning? LOL

David A was good as usual, but I decided he's not my cup of tea. Nonetheless, he cemented himself as the favorite. Kristy was surprisingly descent/good. All three judges liked her, and Simon called her "star";)
Carly might be in danger this week. She was off pitch for at least half the song and had a shaky ending.
Jason had the performance of the night IMO.

Note to Paula Abdul: Your dress appears to be a size too small. If you dressed like this on a regular basis, we could attribute your weird commentary to lack of blood circulation to your brain, however….

Anyway –

THE TOP THREE:

1. David A – Tonight’s theme was totally up his alley, and I was expecting Sappyville, USA, but this was actually very understated and extremely well done.

2. Kristy Lee – Yep, I’ve got her in the top 3. In part, because if my expectations are lower to begin with, it’s easier to impress me. Nonetheless – her best by, pardon the pun, a COUNTRY mile; excellent vocal, tho her movement on stage was terrible. However, it’s a singing competition and not a movement competition.

3. Jason -- Very very nice, and bonus points for doing this version of the song without those annoying "oo oo oo"’s that annoyed me about the "original". However, I have to wonder if he’s ever going to have one of those "OMG where did THAT come from??" moments that many contestants have had in the past, or if he’s just going to level out at very very nice.

THE MIDDLE:

4. Brooke – Like Jason, very very nice, but really no more than that. She had maybe a little too much voice for the song, but at least the connection with the song, missing last week, was back.

5. Carly – A little erratic, but overall fairly good; I do have to agree with Simon, tho, that it had kind of a remote, angry quality to it.

THE BOTTOM THREE:

6. Syesha -- I’m a little doubtful about AI songs done by previous winners being done by current contestants, and I was never a fan of that song to start with. That being said, as big a fan as I was of Fantasia, I actually like Syesha’s version of this better; I think her voice is better suited for it. And I’d have her ranked higher if she hadn’t let out that hideous SHRIEK toward the end.

7. Michael – TOTALLY agree with Simon that he’s got to stop going out there and acting like a wannabe. I am SO over his "Look At What A Rock GOD I Am" routine. And the high notes were hideous.

8. David C -- This was all over the place, and totally fell flat. And the message on his hand was a little – something. Definitely a flop IMHO; from him, I expect much much better.

I think that the bottom three on Thursday night will be Syesha, Kristy Lee and Carly. I'm not saying that these girls were bad and I think that Kristy Lee sang her song well, but I'm not sure if she can pick up that many more fans at this stage in the competition. I think at this stage in the competition everyone pretty much has their favorites and votes for them.

If it goes on last nights particular performances, the bottom three should be Syesha, Carly and David Cook. I think that David Cook has a strong fan base, so I don't think that he will be in any danger of being in the bottom three. I was not impressed with any of these three. I would not be surprised if Brooke ends up in the bottom three again this week.

I am a big Michael Johns Fan, but I didn't think that his version of "Dream On" was that different from the original version. He was so great last week that this week was kind of a let down.

I loved Jason's performance tonight! I thought that this version of "Over The Rainbow" suited him very well!

I liked David's "Angels". I think that he did a good job and it was a pretty good song choice.

Has Kristy Lee stepped it up or what??? She was definitely good this week!

I know my critiques aren't earth shattering or good with descriptions, but.....

Michael Johns--"Dream On"--although he didn't do anything special with it, I thought he did it really well.

Syesha--'don't know the song'--I liked parts of it but still, I just cannot get into her.

Jason--Iz(?) version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"--I wasn't as thrilled as the judges were with this, my DH went nuts over it!

Kristy Lee Cook--"Any Way"--I thought she put out a very good performance...her stage presence isn't the best but this was by far, IMO, her best vocal.

David Cook--"Innocent"--I disagreed especially with Simon. I thought it was a wonderful performance.

Carly--"Show Must Go On"--originally a big fan of hers, she's losing me these last couple weeks. I didn't enjoy the performance at all. I think it was the wrong song for her.

David A.--"Angels"--didn't know the song but as always he gives a good performance...I like his voice when he is more powerful with it more than when he's soft. He's so one-dimensional, though, I must be honest and say I'm bored with him.

Brooke--"You've Got A Friend"--Brooke is also starting to lose me, as far as her song selection and performances go anyway. But like Jason Castro, she has a very huge likability factor about her.

Hate to say it but...besides Syesha who is always in my bottom 3, this week Brooke and Carly are there with her.

Despite having 3 recording devices in our home, I won't be able to see much of Idol Gives back tonight...2 of our recorders aren't working and I'm already taping BB8 on the one that works while we watch Phillies baseball. I'm really disappointed about not being able to tape Idol Gives Back. I'll try to watch what I can during the baseball commercials.

I agree with JonnyCoop on Paula's dress, too!!!

Toni--If you missed Kristy Lee, IMO, you missed her best vocal performance yet. Her stage presence is still a little lacking, but...Even Simon told her she looked like a star. She had a simple but pretty sparkly gold spaghetti strap top on with I think jeans but I forget what color they were.

Hated Michael Johns' version of Dream On.... he is such a wannabe.

Loved Jason and Brooke

Syesha sang I Believe by Fantasia... and I actually missed Fantasia  never thought I'd say that

I was already emotional, but that last song made me even more that way. I loved it & the high notes at the end.

OMG... Robin Williams absolutely hysterical! I knew he was coming out to do that, but still!

you know, I know it seems awful that so many from Katrina are still not back in teh area... but if there were 275000 displaced 3 years ago, and 75000 have been able to return I don't think that's actually too small a number. That's, what, 25000 a year? I don't completely understand the strong draw to rebuild in an area that will always be in that sort of danger... just like I don't get the people who want to rebuild in 'Earthquake Park' here in Anchorage, which was SUCKED DOWN into the ocean during the 64 Earthquake. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Yes, I get that that is HOME and I would be devastated if it were mine, but I don't think I'd want to take a chance and rebuild and have it happen again.

I'm not knocking these people, I just don't see how Brad's eco friendly homes are going to be able to withstand another Katrina. What is the local government doing to prevent it from happening again? Last I heard they were just repairing the 100+ year old levees. That's where I think a lot of rebuilding should be done... let's get that technology up where it should be first!

But now I'm doing exactly what I hate people from outside of my state doing.

Did anyone else find Paula and Randy's bit about Childhood obesity a little odd? How is that a charity thing? Most of those kids are not really in poverty I would think. I could be wrong. But I found that and odd segwey into health care.

I Didn't think this year's show was as good as last years... but it's nice to see it continue...

Highlights were Billy Crystal and Robin Williams and surprisingly Ben Stiller.

Oh and Brad Pitt, just because it was Brad Pitt, but the stage hand totally upstaged him lol

I watched very little of Idol Gives Back. I was too full of energy to sit still for long (spring fever I think, LOL!)
I did log on and make a small dontation, though.

Toni, maybe the reason childhood obesity was spoke of (mind you, I didn't see it, just putting in a *thought* here) is because of how it leads to other health problems, like diabetes and heart problems. It would be one thing if being heavy was just being heavy, but so many things come hand and hand with it. Oddly enough, I ended up watching something on the health channel last night, about a 17 year old obese boy who had some sort of gastric by-pass. He wasn't having a very solid attitude about how he needed to take care of himself after the operation, though.

It would make sense if they had said 'hey here's teh problem' but it went from Obesity to showing a family that was not overweight, but the mother had lupus the daughter had rhumatoid arthritis and the son had something wrong with his legs (he was the only one that I think was overweight, but considering he has been immoble it doesn't surprise me) and no other mention of obesity was made during the rest of the program....

it was just really really weird and out of place. BAD speech writers!
