American Idol - Top 24

I hope Sanjaya goes in the first week. I just don't understand who's voting for him since he's one of the worst singers to ever make the top 12.

Is Carrie turning anorexic? I really like her and her music but I think she needs a cracker or something. Back when she was on Idol she looked fantastic. Now she looks like she's following that Lohan, Duff, etc, trend of losing too much weight.

Sundance and Sabrina should not be going home tonight!!

Haley and Sanjaya do not belong in the Top 12!!!!!! Hopefully they will be the first ones to go.

GO MELINDA!!!! GO BLAKE!!!! GO LAKISHA!!!! GO STEPHANIE!!!!! GO CHRIS!!!!

:agree:
I was rather peeved that Sundance went. If this is the rationality of the young teen girls n boys with their mom n dad's cell phones.... Is it a sign of things to come in this upcoming generation? That is depressing. But it should be common knowledge by now that the upcoming generations have been a "majority" (not all- some good ones here at GS) of superficial adolescents.

Here we go with a "all milk and no meat" mentality.

Sundance sang well once - his audition... from there on out he was either sharp, flat, or forgot his words... he was gifted far too long on the show and I think that's what nailed him. His arrogance on how well he sang the other night was a total turn off. He was shouting and at best flat when singing. That's not my YOUTH talking, that's my ear. I couldn't stand him from the very first week of the top 24. He totally disappointed. A lot of people didn't feel he should be in the top 24 due to his hell week phase, and perhaps that's what bit him in the butt here.

that being said, Sanjaya should not be in the competition either, but oh well...

as for Carrie and why she's successful - if it were because she was an American Idol then Rueben and Fantasia and Taylor would also be seeing these results, and they're not. Carrie is VERY MUCH LOVED in Country Music Circles. She fits right in with this generation of women in Country Music.

Count me as another one not understanding why, and being disappointed that, Sabrina went home before Hayley and that Senjaya is in the top 12.

I totally agree. I agree with you too Sean, why are other there and Sundance went home??? How many times has Simon said this is a "Singing Competition."

But it's also more than a singing competition, you're looking for a superstar - personality also plays a roll...

and I still feel that Sundance no more deserved a spot than Sunjaya... neither one is truly 'one of a kind' or 'spectacular'

Now Toni Carrie showed no personality...........she could have been one of many pretty blondes....the girl next door. I think that an "Idol"can actully not have the best singnig voice if they have a memorable personaliy. I loved Sundance and his "Mustang Sally" to me was the best performnce this season. I am weird though..........I want to hear songs that I like sung with some energy and attitude. I realize Melinda can sing but I could not get into her WOMAN song because her personality just didn't back up her performance.....I knew that once she was off stage she was going back to being Melinda. For the girls I love Jordan. My two favorite guys were sent home last night. Anyone want to bet how long before Hef offers Antonella a Playboy cover?

So Toni, who would / did you vote for between the two?

IOW, which one do you think deserved to stay one more week more than the other?

And I do totally agree that there is more to an Idol than just singing, I say that a lot. But we are not at that point yet. The better "talent" ??????

And yes, also agree he is sharp a lot, and Sunj is flat (personality too) with a limited range. Sunj is also not as self confident or charismatic. He is just cute with a bearable voice that likely will not get better because he does not push himself like Sundance did / does. Sundance had possibilities, Sunj is where he is going to get. I am with the judges and anyone else who thought Sundance was a better talent over all, and he is handsome - just not a "fashionably teeni bopper" sense as Sunj.

I bet he has already.

My favs are still in it so far............Melinda, Gina, Blake, Chris and Chris.......42

neither one should have made it out of hell week - though Sunjaya did do much better than Sundance IMO

as for performances on Tuesday - I would have voted for Sunjaya *if it were only between those two* because he was at least in tune and seemed a bit more comfortable

Sundance, on the other hand, was totally off key and was a jerk when people dare suggest he WASN'T. His arrogance is so much more a turn off that between that and his singing I don't feel sorry for him to go and Sunjaya to stay.

personality should and does play a key part in every part of the competition... at least Sunjaya is humble when the cameras and audio are rolling.

ok... this country girl has to know: which ones do you like? :) My favorites are Jesus Take The Wheel, Don't Forget to Remember Me, and Before He Cheats...

love her music... and I love Red High Heels by Kellie Pickler! lol

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, Toni. "Jesus Take the Wheel" and "Before he Cheats" were the songs that inspired me to parody. "Jesus..." became a "Speed Racer" homage called "Trixie Take the Wheel", and...well, the other one is about sheep and the men who love them, so I probably shouldn't go there. But I promise you it's hilarious. Here's a link to "Trixie...": http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/carrieunderwood3.shtml. Enjoy!
Oh, I also really like "Wasted", and I will admit to having sat through the "Red High Heels" video and thinking it was a really cute song.
But I'm not a country fan at all, nope, not me! ;)

Jordin made my mom and I cry. I was almost bawling because The Land Before Time was a very strong memory in my childhood. She has a new fan.

The Girls Have It

Okay, I suffered through the next couple of rounds and even edured recycled Dianna Ross tunes - at least a couple of the girls did okay. The guys have to go. I do have to give them credit though Dianna Ross tunes are not exactly guy material. One still visualizes Dianna Ross belting out her old hits. There is something slightly lost in translation (good movie). These tunes just don't come across the same sung by male singers. Anyway, no matter I think the jury is in on this one: the girls have it this season. Next crowned American idol: Miss....?
Should be a no brainer.

The only ones I really liked were Melinda (big surprise) and Lakisha

Jordin did fine till she *tried* to belt at the end... love that song and had to wince during the second half of her song :(
