I love the new dress. Still think he could wear something other than the same blue for a shirt, but I liked it.

Didn’t comment about their SP, but they were incredibly solid. Probably close to their best SP this season, although I think it was better at Euros, but only by a hair. I think the judges really like them. If they skate clean, they have all the chances for gold. But it’ll be a hard task to skate four programs here and go clean. Still, if there’s a team that can do it, it’s them.

I think it’s actually good for them, especially because S/H are not here. They can get another outing in the Olympic Ice before the last week of adjustments for the Pairs competition. They‘ve never been afraid of competing, that’s for sure.
 
I think Russian fed wanted to give them the opportunity to go with a win in the FP into the individual event. They seemed quite disappointed with their 2nd place in the SP.
 
Well, if they were that disappointed by being second, they have time to work through it. Better to be ready for that now and know when to rebuild for the FS. We don’t know what will happen in ten days for their event, so they need to be prepared for everything. Nothing better than be cut to size every one in a while.

With the kind of content they have, even a mistake in the SP wouldn’t take them out of contention. They have be ready to do what they know how to do. But then, the difference in the SP was so minimal, half of the difference between Gold and Silver in 2018, and that was already close, I don’t think it’ll matter in the grand scheme of things. They just have to be prepared.

I also think that they shouldn´t be disappointed with the SP in the TE. Only 0.20 behind S/H is actually good for them. S/H had a much bigger advantage at worlds last year.
 
Well, the FS was a struggle. Aleksandr in particular looked super tired, and you could see Nastia was compensating for him in the interpretation. I was not surprised about the fall, but hoping they are right, I’m kinda glad it was here. The perfect moment for a hiccup.
 
What a scary fall from them. :( I really hope they are okay. Sasha looked totally shocked in the kiss and cry. Probably Russia should have swap pairs. If Sasha is already tired now, he could have needed the rest. And there is still the injury on his left hand. I hope they will be fine for the individual event.

I was feeling uneasy looking at him wobbling and shaking and hoping he'd last till the end. He didn't. I am hoping it's just tiredness and not anything more serious. Nastya is made of steel. Tikhonov was so complimentary towards her in the commentary.

I actually think he should see a doctor to check for concussion! He took full impact whilst also trying to protect Nastya in the process.
Instead the team doctor? is doing hand gestures in the KnC

I had the same feeling. Usually he can bounce back, maybe it was just a bad day for him, his Russian Nationals of the season. Nastya makes me more worried at times, but she definitely held them together today, probably sensing he wasn’t at his best.
 
That is why I was hoping they’d swap them over with another team for the free skate portion of the team event. They have competed in a lot of events and now this has shaken their confidence and the individual event is coming up. Luckily, it is the last event. I’m 50/50 between wanting this team or the Chinese pair winning gold.
