They said in an interview the problem was the 6 a.m. practice, Sasha is very much an owl. Fortunately, the individuals are not in the morning, but on the other hand late in the evening is not too good for Nastya who is a lark. Sigh.

Yes, Sasha isn´t known for being a morning person. At Europeans the competitions were in the evening as well and they were fine.
 
Hearing about the scary fall took all the desire to watch the pairs competiton away from me. I see it happened at the last lift according to the score box. At least they look fine during the ceremony.

But are they OK? That fall traumatized me from my computer screen, I don't even want to imagine what it was like for them, especially Sasha looked shellshocked after it happened:cry:. I know they're both super tough, but I don't want them to be in pain!

(I knew that there would be a fall in advance, but for some reason I thought it was on a side by side jump, this was soooo much worse😭)

I've overcame myself (or the curiosity was too high) and saw the skate. I have to say there were some really tiny hesitations throughout the program from Sasha, I don't think there was a problem but IMO he was really tired from waking up too early. I hope they are fine (Sasha was holding his left hand after the skate) and will be confortable in the individual competition. I know from such falls those are often men who can have fear afterwards, like Marinin after the Skate America 2004, while Totmianina got back to trainig as soon as she recovered, Marinin felt responsibility and for a long time had problems to lift his partner.

They fortunately have nearly two weeks not to get over it. When I was watching Europeans, the co-commentator of the pair competition was René Novotný, who on some opportunity said that if something like taht happens the best way how to shake it off is to go to the ice as soon as possible and do the element.

I love that Sasha has said he appreciates that Nastia is cheerful and talkative. This is a great quality in a partner. And Sasha is perfect for her too, always so gallant in his answers. They truly are made for each other.

Being a night owl myself, I sympathize with Sasha. I think the early hour absolutely explains how he looked tired and a little "off" before. Thank goodness the individual events will be in the evening!
 
I think it’s something that might be addressed at another competition, because this time they could make a large mistake and still be comfortable, somewhat, in the lead. But not all competitions will be forgiving like this. It‘s not the worst thing in the world to get a scare sometimes, if it keeps them on their toes. Not like they ever gave us a reason they‘re overconfident, though.

I did watch a bit of TSL’s recap from the TE, and was super glad Meagan was quick to defend M/G in front of Dave and Jonathan. She said herself the more athletic pairs attract her eye, and she didn’t let them double down on the nitpicking, especially on the Euler.

Third thing, that we’re not supposed to mention, I was seriously worried for Sasha during the rumor mill surrounding the delay of the medal ceremony. His whole demeanor during and after the skate made me think it could be related to something outside of competition. I just hope they can stay far from the drama and concentrate on their event. Also, happy Mosvkina is there to run the show. Not that I don’t trust Arthur.

I just read an interview of Adelina's coach about Sochi. She said that since the worst had happened (the confusion, missed goal, etc. with the Team Event selections) ... it had the effect of settling them both (after the coach said she spent 2 days unable to get out of bed!) I hope this minor disaster from M/G will have the effect of taking a little of the pressure off, and as you said, make them determined not to make another similar mistake. Thank goodness they have the next week to rest, recover, regroup, and reclaim themselves.

No. In that regard, they are perfect. Confidence to shine but not to overshadow

Yeah, that was very entertaining and satisfying for an M/G fan. She also detailed where she thinks M/G have the advantage, and it wasn't only in gorgeous elements and GOEs. She said that she finds their performance qualities and the way their personalities engage with audiences are superior to S/H's, whereas S/H have an advantage in the nuances of the choreography.

It's hilarious:rofl: watching Dave and Jonathan's faces when Meagan answers such questions. They are not going to disagree with her expert opinion, but they have to constantly adjust their faces and their preconceived notions.

It was definitely hilarious. I mean, it’s not like we or they need the validation from TSL, but I watch and enjoy some of the discussion points they bring, especially regarding pairs. But there’s a clear bias against M/G coming from them now that M/G have become front runners for the top of the podium. And that’s fine, everyone has an opinion they can share, but those two were not ready to disagree with Meagan, at last not in front of her, and you could just see the wind taken out of their sails when she did not fall for the trap.
