Anastasia Tarakanova

Poor girl. When a Georgian girl and her coach was shown, in the background in K&C Nastya was crying really hard. It hurt my heart so much to see it. Oh, my poor princess Tarakanova! Don't cry my sweet bunny!

You could tell she wanted to cry the moment she saw the score and the moment she thought the camera was off her she just burst into tears.

Poor dear… I hope they are able to console her. Just come back stronger, Nastya - you can do it!

I just watched the program, and it was a pity about the doubled jump, but otherwise I really enjoyed the performance - it seems to me that she has become more comfortable with the choreo. I believe the program can grow even more and become something truly special.

Well she knows this mistake may be costly.. Tarusina is not known for making mistakes after all..

Of course it's costly, and I understand why she is upset. But that doesn't help. I mean, it can help to have her cry out and relieve her feelings that way - but dwelling on it afterwards will change nothing. Therefore I hope she can put this behind her, and come back strong for the free.

Oh no, poor Nastya! I just watched it and thought she was doing brilliantly until that mistake. Her spins, her jumps, her choreo, temperament and interpretation... wonderful. It‘s such a shame because she made the same mistake last time and then laid down a spectacular FS but now she needs to be perfect to get into the JGPF... She‘d deserve it so much and I hope she can still get the gold somehow. It seems to me she has a higher scoring potential than Tarusina so maybe if she slays the FS she can still make up the difference between her and Anna?

Tarakanova's FS in Canada was 126.13, Tarusina's FS in Bratislava was 119.54 - if you add 4 points for Tarusina's invalid spin then it would have been 123.54 so yes clean Nastya can make up the difference in the FS. The question mark is Tomoe she scored 114.95 in FS in Bratislava with a fall on a downgraded 2A, a ! on her Flip, and a doubled toe on one of her combos.

Honestly I can't understand Nastya's issue with the 3Lz+3T, she jumped it perfectly in the FS in Canada and perfectly twice in the warm up here but then in the SP....it just didn't work.

Tomoe has big, powerful jumps so I can see her getting ahead of Nastya if both are clean. (Especially since Tomoe has about a 3 point difference to her advantage already) I‘m still hoping for the best for Nastya.

I also can‘t understand why it‘s always in the SP. Maybe it‘s a stamina issue but then why not move the combo to the first half? Better a 3Lz-3T without bonus than a 3Lz-2T with bonus.. But she was so good in the FS last time so I think it might be nerves more.

I wish her all the best, though. Go Nastya Go!! :cheer:

I just watched Nastya's performance and oh man, I was sure she will go clean. She started great, she looks more confident and accustomed to her program, they added/changed some transitions and movements and the program looks even better now. (I love the wink at the end:biggrin:) Her speed, extensions, spins and the first two jumps looked so solid, but then something happened during her combo..:sad21: It broke my heart to see her crying at the end, I hope she will be able to leave behind this mistake and perform a spectacular LP, that will bring her a spot in the JGPF.

She really deserves it and if she'll skate clean, she can really be a true competitor there, how Fluture stated above, she is a skater with a high scoring potential.

I thought she skated really, really, well. It’s a shame that she doubled the end of her combination- she seemed quite upset about it. I’m hoping that she does well in the free skate and gets gold. She’s one of my favorite juniors and I think she’s truly exceptional.

I also think she skated better now than in Canada. The difference between first three positions is small so anything can happen in FP. I wish both Nastya and Anna the best for the free skate.

I really like TARA. I didn't realize how young she is, I thought 15/16. But I think she couuld be one of the Russian juniors who will transition well to seniors. She's long limbed and slightly gangly, but that's GOOD for someone her age. Don't take this the wrong way but she reminds me of Sarah Hughes (well, minus the horrendous posture and <<< jumps). Hughes came up the ranks and while the baby ballerinas were touted like NNN, APM, Cohen, etc it was Hughes who actually won the big prize. I really think she'll survive the transition form juniors to seniors. I kind of wished she hadn't gone to Plushenko, but her basics are already solid so she'll manage. Let's hope she pulls it together for the LP. She is so much better a skater than TARU that she should be fine.

I think Pluschenko is taking Tarakanova on a path that people were hoping Evgenia would take by moving to Orser. Pluschenko has refined so much Nastya's skating in a very short time, they kept her strong sides (Lz, spins) and are working on improvements. Did you pay attention to her edge work? I was amazed, last year she appeared to me as kind of sloppy and not really fitting into her programs, which required some acting skills. Now she looks so well balanced, even though she still makes some (costly) mistakes. If I didn't knew she was a junior, I wouldn't have said it by watching her today. She's grown into a young lady with a hidden talent and I think she's ready for the senior circuit.

Uhh, this is a bit odd to read. After all, Tarakanova was known as a skating skill phenom well before she entered the junior circuit. And not only do I think her last season's programs fit her perfectly, I also think that she displayed very strong skating skills during them. So it's hard for me to really agree with you on your assessment of her in the past.

So yes, she has very good edge work... But she has had very good edge work for a long time. In that regard, I'm not really sure how much Plushenko's done...

Agree. I really like her. She is less spastic now and her edges, and everything else, are much more refined.

What was the reason for her leaving Eteri? Did she leave on her own accord or was she pushed to leave?
