Anastasia Tarakanova

Plushenko recently gave a little "interview" about Nastya. You can find it here in Russian but I thought I'd post a quick translation here.

“My student Anastasia Tarakanova has left for the Grand Prix Finals. She is prepared for the competition. Our task is not to fight for a particular place, but to perform decently, show quality, good skating, give a clean performance. We have changed her program and sewed new very beautiful dresses. She is in very good shape, " said Plushenko on the phone.

I'm :confused:  about changing her program?? I'm assuming he's just talking about the fact they've tweaked the choreo a bit and changed her jump layout in the FS...he can't meant they've actually changed one of her programs can he??
But still :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: about the new dresses!! I can't wait to see them!!

- - - Updated - - -

Also Nastya's jump layout for the FS according to planned content lists:
3Lz
3Lo
2A
2A_____
3F-Eu-3S
3Lz-3T
3F-2T

The only change from Stage 5 is that she plans a double toe on her final flip instead of a double loop. It makes sense given it would be a new combo and the fact that they seem to be playing relatively safe here (she also obviously had a little error on the last 3F at Stage 5 which made the double loop impossible).

Thanks, really intersting interview!
This summer she could leave the fugure skating.

I am able to translate, but not today. Time problem.

someone translates it, please...

She prefers 4Lo but 4T also OK. 4Lz is not so good for her.
Just having no idea when it will be demonstrated.

Earlier she decided to stop skating and left the ET group. After a month or so, feeling empty, she decided to come back and looked for a new coach. Serafima Sakhanovitch helped her with Pluschenko's Academy info.

Lot of details about her everyday life, school problems etc.

I read it through google translate, she is somehow so mature at answering questions!
I'm glad she pick herself up again and i really hope the best of her.
This is such a great interview to know more about her

Lots of great info about her. I admire her even more after this interview.

I agree!

Well... she could very well be the first to land the 4Lo in ladies. Go Nastya!!!!! :yahoo:

I translated with Google (mainly it is ok). Just fixed totaly wrong phrases:

"In the air I thought it is fall"

- Soon you will perform in the Grand Prix finals, but initially you were given only one stage. Worried about whether you get the second, and with it - the opportunity to qualify for the final?

- In fact, yes, worried. At my first stage in Canada, I took the second place. To be honest, this position suited me perfectly. But upsetting mistakes. In the short program I had a gross defect - instead of a cascade of 3-3, I made 3-2 (a triple jump with a double. - “Gazeta.Ru”).

I blamed myself for not preparing well, not warming up. But then, when I saw how Anna Scherbakova was skating (Tutberidze's student. - “Gazeta.Ru”), I thought: “Well, I see ...” They all fell back like that - because of the long flight, their legs did not recover.

Shcherbakova in her program under-rotated the element and fell, and I just made 3-2. Of course, both cases are blunders, but I expected that there would be a minimal gap between us.

So it happened.

- And you got your chance ...

- Yes! True, at first they told me that I was going to the final, 7th stage of the Grand Prix.

And suddenly, a week before the 6th stage, they say to me: “You are going to Ljubljana”. And I'm like, “Well ... well ...”

After Canada, I skated badly for a week due to the change of time zones. I had to restore all the jumps in a short time, but I managed to do it and performed.

- In Ljubljana, after the short program, you ranked third. And in order to reach the Grand Prix finals, one had to win the stage. How did you feel before free program?

- I was shaking. In Canada, by the time of the free program, acclimatization was over, I exhaled and went to do everything I could. And in Ljubljana, my legs gave way. I went out and did not understand what would happen. But managed. And I pulled this lutz - toe loop!

On the lutz I flew in a diagonal and already in the air I thought: “That’s, a fall”. But when I resisted and scratched this jump, I was very happy and then I skated quietly and did everything.

The announcement of the points was the X-moment. For the free program, I had the best result! But I understood that the points are small. I expected that in Canada after the clean program somewhere 130, and that is in Ljubljana. But then they announced that I was the first by both programs! I am definitely in the final!

"They put the free program three days before the test skates"

- In the free program, you first skated under Imagine Dragons. Why did they change the music to Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata?

- I got the free program three days before the test skates in Novogorsk. Naturally, it was raw and I skated it badly. It was fixed only for the beginning: the first jump - and the track. We were advised to simply change it, and we agreed.

- What do you express in the programs of this season?

- Free program is a story about unrequited love. Beethoven loved one woman very much and thought it was mutual. She married another, but he still hoped that she had feelings for him. When he realized that there was nothing, he experienced severe disappointment - "No, you do not pay any attention to me."

At the end, I start a walk of steps in which he shouts, as it were: “How is it that I did everything for you, and you still love another!”

The short program is tango, passion. I have to bewitch all the judges. I play with them, yes, I play ... Although I’m only 14 years old, but I have to break down stereotypes. It seems to me, no matter what your age. Either you are a good actor or a bad one. Yes, it is difficult to express what you do not yet feel that you are unfamiliar, beyond the power of your age. It is much harder than expressing what suits you.

But why not show it all, try it? I want to break down stereotypes.

- Do you always find meaning in programs?

- Yes, even if I was put on a performance to music that does not touch me, it happens. But I'm an actor. On the ice, we are all actors.

I look at the performances of other juniors and sometimes I notice that they just ride from jump to the element, but I don’t see any special game with the public. And I want to stand out with this - I think I'm a good actor.

"The quad loop goes well"

- Evgeni Plushenko said that by the end of the season you will be jumping the quads.

- Sasha Trusova has been teaching her quad for more than one year, and I just started to try them. So I do not know exactly when I will show such an element at the start.

But I can say that I have a quad toe loop pretty well. It is even ok sometimes (laughs). I also taught the quad Lutz - it is the best triple for me.

We tried all quads to check if some of them will be good. We found such a good jump, as loop.

In fact, from the triples it is my worst. At the competitions I always make it solo. But among quads it is quit good for some reason (laughs). The jump goes smoothly - you just need to fully rotate it.

- Plushenko himself performed all these jumps at competitions. Is it easier to learn such elements with him than with coaches who did not perform in single skating?

- In the group, Eteri Georgievna had choreographer Daniil Markovich Gleichengauz. As I understand, he mostly performed in dances, but he was once a single. Therefore, he probably tunes jumps. Now we have trainer Alexander Zolotarev - he is also a choreographer, but he also does jumps. They look at how people perform such elements, probably remember what mistakes skaters make. And they are also starting to help.

- That is, there is no such thing that a coach who performed the jumps himself, like, for example, Plushenko, can explain better?

“Well ... I can't even comment on it somehow.” Everybody explains well. I can not say that someone does it better, and someone worse.

“I understood that a strict trainer is not necessary.”

- How are classes at this academy different from what you had before?

- Before, I always thought that I needed a strict trainer to give me a jerk if something goes wrong. Here, they do not scold me, but calm me down.

Once at the training, coordination problems started - I was just shaking. Then Ksenia Semyonovna (Ivanova - “Gazeta.Ru”) took me to the coaching room and instead of my work I spent 15 minutes drinking tea, and then came to the ice to another group and worked out normally. So I realized that you do not need a strict trainer.

- what are the other differences?

- No break. All workouts are in a row. And we have a separate trainer in general physical training - Ram - two-time world champion in acrobatic rock and roll.

Also, a separate trainer deals with us on the ice - Ksenia Semenovna. She also works with us on special physical training. And our head coach is Yevgeny Viktorovich.

- What makes Evgeny Viktorovich?

- Everything! He is working with us on programs, on acting skills, doing jumps, somehow trying to help me in everything.

It seems he found some kind of sponsor, but so far I have not met him.

Perhaps Evgeny Viktorovich will help me with housing, since I live quite far from the rink of our academy and I get there for a long time.

To come to study and training, I have to get up very early. Classes end quite late. Recently, I even miss the choreography, because I can not get home at night. When I miss something, I feel a little disgusting. Immediately some kind of stone in my soul. But Evgeny Viktorovich does a lot for me, it helps a lot ...

- You do not have to pay for training at this academy?

- I don’t know about the payment - I wasn’t even interested in it. Probably there is some kind of thing that allows you to train for free. But I do not know for sure. I just came to the coach - to Yevgeny Viktorovich Plushenko, to work with his team. And that's all. And these questions were solved more by my parents than me.

"I said goodbye to that team and said:" Enough with me "

- How did you decide to leave Tutberidze?

- It so happened that in the summer I didn’t skate at all. And it's not like I missed some workouts ... I just left.

The season started, I skated for two weeks and said goodbye to that team. I said: "Everything, I have had enough."

I was not going to go anywhere. Just did not appear on the ice. There were such thoughts: “I skate clean , but there are few points and the place is not right.” This split me purely psychologically.

If I do something, then I need to know why. And always to be only the first - for me there are no other places, except the first. The second, the third is all the same as the twentieth.

- You are a maximalist.

- Yes. The only thing is that I would be glad to be third at the Russian Junior Championships, because this way you can be selected for the World Championship.

However, with a clean skate, I was not even allowed into the six, and the six is the Russian team. True, I was selected by other competitions, but this result was still a shock for me.

In addition, at the Rostelecom Cup final, my knee was very sick. I thought to withdraw because I barely went. But the coaches told me that you need to show character. And I went. I skated with the kneecap, but skated a clean short, and free programs. I proved to myself that I can skate cleanly under any circumstances!

- Then?

- Then I was treated and, in addition to everything, I got sick with rotovirus and spent a week under the drip.

- How did you recover after that?

- When I left, I could not even jump double. I had to re-learn everything.

Eteri Georgievna told my mother: "If Nastya has a character, then she will recover."

If I made mistakes, they help to fix them. I am very grateful to Eteri Georgievna, Daniil Markovich, Sergey Viktorovich Dudakov, Sergey Aleksandrovich Rozanov for giving me a lot of attention, leading me to the start. It was with them that I entered the international level and selected myself for my first Grand Prix final.

- What did you do during recovery?

- Corrected technique. Yes, I started to jump, but it worked through time, because the jumps were still low. But they began to pay attention to me, and some work went. I restored all the jumps, even when I was on that team.

- Why did you leave?

- I didn’t leave because there was something wrong with me. Everything was fine with me there. And I was not afraid of any competition.

But the whole season morally undermined me, and ... I won't be here to invent something ... I quit figure skating.

I didn’t skate for a month. And I did not think that I miss it. But ... somehow ... I looked at my parents and understood that it was not only my work that was done. It was also the work of my parents, who are very offended, because they have invested so much efforts to me, and now they cannot do anything about my choice. I was uneasy, and I decided to return to the sport. Began to think who I can go to.

- How did you choose Plushenko?

- I talked to Serafima Sakhanovich. I learned that there is a good load in this academy, everything is there. I also looked at the results: with Evgeny Viktorovich she entered the first adult Grand Prix. That is, with him I began to recover, and I got a JGP stage. I thought: “Evgeny Viktorovich must be a very good coach.” Judging by the fact that I have been watching all this time, I was not mistaken.

"In the Tutberidze group they were often driven out of training."

- Is it true that in the Tutberidze group you were expelled from training?

- Yes (laughs)!

They expelled me because I can not get together. In order to always skate clean, we were focused on the fact that we should be able to concentrate. We were given only one try, and there were no more chances - as in competitions.

Asking for another opportunity - do not give. If not done, upset, then that's all — go away. And I was quite often expelled.

- When did you go to the group to Tutberidze, did you think that you would be involved with Evgenia Medvedeva and Alina Zagitova?

- No, I just wanted to follow somebody, to see someone as example every day. There was no such thing that I admired: “Oh, world champion!” Never in my life have I ever been a fan and have not taken an autograph.

- What are your impressions of working with Medvedeva and Zagitova?

- Basically, I talked with Zhenya. For some reason, I have more lined up with her. She is very sociable. Friendly!

And Alina ... she may be unpredictable some moment. She seems to be talking too: I talked to her and sat practically in one place - we had a little dressing room.

[EDIT: Sorry, I can't translate this exactily. In Russian it is "А Алина… может в любой момент встрепенуться". I hardly understand what this means. I can simply suppose that Nastya and Alina don't suit each other in characters]

But, as friends do not choose each other, so it is impossible to explain why, but I communicated with Zhenya more. Although they are both very good.

- Very surprised when Zhenya left?

- Yes. For real. I looked at them with Eteri Georgievna - well, really, like a mother and a daughter. They always talked, joked, went somewhere together.

It was not just a relationship between a coach and a promising athlete who wanted something from each other. It was a very warm relationship. I have not seen this anywhere else.

So for me, Eugene’s departure was a shock. It was strange, and at first I didn’t believe it - honestly!

- Did it somehow influence your decision to leave too?

- No, not at all.

- What do you think about the fact that the rivalry between Medvedeva and Zagitova exists last season?

- I can not look ahead.

Maybe Medvedeva will go forward and make a quad, and Zagitova will start to teach such jumps. And at us, present juniors, the puberty period, growth will go, and we will forget how to jump the quads.

And, in principle, it is not necessary to make plans in advance, because you will say one thing, but everything will turn out differently - this usually happens.

"In the classroom rented for the blog with the permission of the coaches"

- Simultaneously with your sports career and study, you run your video blog on Youtube. How do you have enough time for this?

- I usually shoot when I go somewhere, or ask to record during training, if there is time. I mount it either completely in the evening or in the bathroom when I rest. In fact, the schedule is really tight, but I wanted to distract somehow.

But I don’t give up sport! When I created the channel, everyone was so angry. "That's all, no figure skating, what are you doing ..."

But no, it is not instead of a sport . All my coaches know that I am running a video blog. In the classes I take off only with their permission, if I have time, if I have done everything.

- Your blog is good at what you really have to show.

- Yes, these are stories about figure skating. And if people want to talk about my life, then I take pictures of it.

But in fact, I also created a blog in order to get distracted, so I wanted to show there something abstracted from figure skating, for example, Challenge.

For a while everything is being filmed on a regular phone, there are no voice recorders, no microphones.

My dad told me: “If it will be a thousand subscribers, then we will buy something, but for now this is all nonsense.”

Well, I agree with him. While this is entertainment, which will be secondary, because figure skating is the main thing, this is mine.

“If you want to be evaluated - appear on the lessons”

- You study in the ordinary school - not sport. How do you manage to combine study and professional figure skating?

- Pretty hard. I changed school to study closer to the skating rink, where we work with Yevgeny Viktorovich. But they do not know how to behave with athletes.

I ask the teachers to give me assignments for me to do at home, but they say: “If you want assessments, appear at the lessons”.

And I thoroughly plunged into a sports career since last year - when I went to the first junior Grand Prix stages. I went to the preparation for international starts, the competitions themselves in other countries, I missed a week of classes ...

Last year, such a schedule still rolled, but this is no longer possible. So I will go to this school for part-time education.

- And how was it before?

- When I studied in the group with Eteri Georgievna, I went to school, where Yulia Lipnitskaya had studied before, and there they knew how to deal with athletes. The class teacher immediately gave the phones of all the teachers so that we could communicate.

- How do your classmates take you when you tell them that you are a professional figure skater?

- In this school, I was more or less accepted, but not by all.

There are guys who reproach me: “Here, you miss school, but in fact you do nothing, you just skip it.” And in all other schools it was something like this.

No one ever helped. For example, I asked the teacher to send some control through the guys, but they replied: "No, take it yourself." But in this school I was accepted more calmly. "Well, she misses, yes, she is an athlete, she works." I was even pleased to some extent.

“I didn’t know myself that I quit figure skating”

- As a child, you were engaged in figure skating and swimming. How was the choice made?

- In swimming, I did better. Everyone said that such a swimmer is born every hundred years.

There was a moment when we were told to choose, and my parents sent me to swim, refusing to skate. And I did not even know about it.

Some time passed, I missed the ice and found that I didn’t want to go swimming at all. And I asked: "Mom, and when is it already on the ice?" And since then, I've been doing just that.

"Until now, mock because of the names"

- When you started to speak, didn't you think about choosing a sonorous last name, like, for example, did Evgeny Medvedeva?

- No, I never thought about it.

As a child, I was often called out because of my last name (remark: tarakan is cockroach in russian), and it always upset me.

They still laugh at me and can make fun of me when I first call my last name in a new school. But now they often call me Princess (Princess Tarakanova was well known in 18th century), and I like it.

"I always skated so that all remember me"

- You already have enough fans.

- I was very impressed with the package from Japan, which came to me on the eve of test skates. That is, people did not just come to the start, but sent a huge package of gifts from another country to Russia.

I also remember how a girl in Ljubljana presented me with a toy in a dress from a free program. I am not able to do that - it’s very difficult and long, and she’s knitting it all with her own hands.

This is really cool. Everyone who supports me and supports me, thank you so much.

- At what moment did you realize that you became popular? That this is not just a lesson for yourself ...

- I can not even answer this question. I always skated for the public to please the judges and the audience, to be known, to be remembered ... Always.

Nice words about Eteri-Zhenya relationship.. And a very good interview overall. It was interesting to learn about her recovery, struggles to correct her technique, quitting FS for good after that bronze medal and retrospective decision to keep skating competitively. Very very appropriate interview with a very very useful content (for Nastya's positive image) at the very very right time. Timing of this text is just perfect. Great PR. Plyushenko's PR wisdom and skills outplayed here all other Russian coaches and skaters so far. Dear Zhenya, please take notes how to handle your PR properly!

Nice words about Eteri-Zhenya relationship.. And a very good interview overall. It was interesting to learn about her struggles and decision to keep skating competively. Very very appropriate interview with a very useful content (for Nastya's positive image) at the very right time. Timing of this text is just perfect. Plyushenko's PR wisdom and skills outplayed all other Russian skaters so far. Dear Zhenya, please take notice how to handle your PR properly!

It‘s obvious Plushenko and his team know what they‘re doing. Nastya seems to be in very good hands and I‘m glad. I love her skating and I like her personality as well. Interesting news about her training process at the academy. I think Nastya‘s success and her happiness there might lead to other skaters possibly considering Plushenko as a coach when thinking about making a change. Which is good. He seems to have a good team who is also very supportive.

Something different: I’m not so sure about the new dress, I liked the old one a lot, but it might grow on me.
