Andrew Torgashev

Andrew :cheer2:

:party2::clap: etc.

Well, as (almost) everyone knows, I love Jason and I love Andrew. Knowing a lot of Jason fans, I don't see any who "resent" Andrew. Most Jason fans are just tickled to death Jason is still competing, however he finishes, and many like Andrew for the same reasons we like Jason.

But since this is Andrew's FF, back to our boy. I think the reason for some hesitation is that many have been so disappointed, so many times, that it is difficult to believe that this is finally it. This is the time when he puts talent, dedication, passion and performance together and shows the world.👏 I mean, of course I believe, I want to believe but deep down, way deep down, is some fear some there??? for others, it may take some time to get more fans on the Andrew train🚂

I love L'Enfer but I also loved Bloodstream. I think three years is too much, and I trust whatever he will bring next year.

I agree that a lot of fans are hesitant to get excited just in case he becomes his old self, again, meaning inconsistent. Is this really the beginning of a new era for him? I just feel that Camden has exactly the same problem, but people are very quick to back him and support him at the drop of a pin, but not Andrew. People are just waiting around for him to get it together, but they've given up on Andrew, despite them both being the same in that inconsistency sense. Does anyone else feel that way, or is it just me?

I am really hoping this is the start of new consistent Andrew. I really like that in the press conference he attributes some of the change to maturity, which indicated a change in mindset. Really easy to say, and really difficult to implement.

I don't know if people cut other skaters more breaks or maybe that's just me in my mind because I don't cut them more breaks:biggrin:. Recently I've felt somewhat the other way, that maybe people are using Andrew for their own agenda because they don't like other skaters. (Let me make clear, no one here! At all. I love the love for Andrew here)

As much as I love welcoming people to the Andrew fandom, I would like it to be because they see what we've seen all along, and not, wow, good, we can get rid of a skater I don't like.

But that could be just me too. ;)

Andrew was magnificent today and in his short also. I think one mark of Raf's genius is finding the right coach for his skaters. Look at what Adam did for Mariah. And clearly, Brandon is doing that for Andrew. He's created a legacy. Andrew was always a great skater. It took that perfect chemistry to pull all that talent out of him and let him shine. That's what happened at this Nationals. Andrew shone!

I'm so happy for Andrew, guys!!!!!! :jumping::dance2::excited::nana::cheeky:

I was literally crying through the program after he kept landing perfect jumping pass after perfect jumping pass! That was stunning and incredible... A very well-deserved silver medal for him, which is now the new GOLD, honestly! When you have Nathan Chens and Ilia Malinins out there, silver is the new gold!

Also, Jason is not petitioning for a Worlds spot this season, so the top 3 finishers ought to be getting put on the Worlds team. Surely Andrew along with Ilia.

PURE PERFECTION! :hap10::jump::yahoo:

Andrew has grown up so much this season. His maturity seems to suggest that he's no longer expecting to just get by with not putting in that much effort and still be able to do really well. I guess when you have his background and that strategy works when you're a kid Andrew at Novice, Intermediate, Junior... But, at Senior, it just doesn't cut it. You have to squeeze for every 0.01 point you can get out of those judges because they are PICKY AND STINGEY. They judge almost like they want you to fail, so you can't give them any reason to think you are failing. Entitlement does not work, which may have been a problem for him in the past due to immaturity.

This more grown up Andrew really seems to understand that he has to expect more from himself because no one is going to cut him any slack.

I can't believe it. I can't believe it.:dbana::dbana::dbana:

I gushed in the men's LP thread, but I'm still in shock. That skate was amazing and this season has been amazing (cue Meek Mill, who I only know because of my other sporting fandom, "I used to pray for times like this"). And now officially the Worlds Team. (never a doubt)

:drama:

Okay, well... I read somewhere that Jason would not be trying to go to Worlds, but maybe that was false info. He IS going to Worlds. I'm sure he needs to get his gear working for him, though, but I hope that all comes together for him.

Andrew is FOR SURE going, too! Hope he has a much better outing this time around! :pray::pray::pray::pray::clap:

Just heard a podcaster literally gushing over Andrew's SP, that he is obsessed with it, it's fantastic, and he could watch it 100 times. He's making me want to watch it again! :biggrin:

Adding: I did. It was pretty awesome.

I have just seen Andrews FS. Not an illegal channel, on you tube, by Peacock. I have no words. This was really very good. The musicality! Wow, wow, wow! I even edited my post about the top 5 because Andrews FS must be in it. A highly deserving second place!

Thank you, skating gods 🙇‍♀️

I thought I was dreaming 😭. I’m so impressed that in this high stakes situation where every jump counted, Andrew’s performance was at its absolute best as well. I love that short program so much! In the free skate, it just looked like he could do no wrong. I was cheering for every jump!

I don’t really have an opinion about this, but it’s a similar case with Amber Glenn. I will point out that the judges went with Andrew’s components, giving him 91 for the FS. While there is a case to be made that he should get higher PCS scores internationally than what the ISU has given him so far, the fact that the Nationals score was higher suggests that the judges were feeling good about the prospect of him being on the world team (instead of just mindlessly copying his ISU score).

I have watched and rewatched Torgs' Nationals performances many times in the last few days. I'm so thrilled for him!! He is the most confident and at ease with his jumps and on his skates that I have ever seen.

When was the last time he ever did 2 quads in a program? As a junior skater maybe? But crazy enough, he got less points for his 4T-2T than he did on his solo 4T. BUT I realize that if he did ever pop that 2nd 4T, he could still use that solo flip at the end to have a third combination as he did before.

I could watch all of his programs from this season, even that bad cranberry cup start, and marvel at the progress in all areas, and we're not even done yet!

I was wondering the same thing. When has he ever done 2 quads in a single program before?? I don't think he ever has until now (maybe someone could verify this?). That he managed this perfectly on the first attempt to do it is incredible. No splatting on either quad at all. Three quads in the competition attempted and three landed perfectly.

Am I dreaming this??? Please don't wake me!

He still has 4CC and Worlds to go and we could see continual progress! We will ALMOST DEFINITELY see him earning two GP assignments out of the gate with his current SB international score, plus his still climbing WS points. These two internationals he still going to do will help with that improving even more, so no need for Andrew to get on a substitution list for the GP next season!!

My dreams for Andrew are finally being realized! The next would be getting to an Olympics! :D

Andrew's not doing 4CC now!

I hope he's okay and not injured, or anything. It does make sense to skip 4CC when he has to prepare for World's, too. It's just that 4CC doesn't interfere with the schedule for anything else this season.

Rest up, Andrew, and don't be hurt!

I know some people aren't quite believing what they're seeing yet. BUT - I have followed Andrew since someone (hi El!) turned me on to him and I have never seen him skate with such innate confidence and assuredness. He's enjoying himself and feeling the music and just being free and happy. Will he still make mistakes? Of course - they ALL do. But this is truly a different skater out there now. Here's hoping he makes a great showing at Worlds.

Andrew himself, along with others, have referred to him as the "pizza king". What am I missing? What does that refer to?
