No Artur no Dima, my excitement for this weekend just took a nose dive  as if things haven't been bad enough this season :sad21: I just hope he is taking a precautionary measure and it's nothing serious  Let us know if you find any detailed report!

I'm not watching, all mines withdrew. I'm upset and Victoria/Nikita may miss the cups (sheer upset :sad21:). This year sucks.

That's so unfortunate!! :eeking: This season is just going from bad to even worse. :palmf:

Now the main thing is to heal fully and not let it become a chronic injury. This season, as it is, will not hamper his ability to get GPs next season if he has to miss. I guess it's not a big shock as his right ankle was taped in Novogorsk. I hope they didn't make it worse and are just taking their time and not rushing anything. I think I'm over my 7 stages of grief now. Good luck to the kid with recovery.

I agree with you. He is still so young and he has a bright future ahead. It's more important to think in a long term! In any case, get well soon Artur!

Artur at test skates. Left ankle seems taped.

The improper use of mask and no social distancing displayed from this weekend, including the pics above is upsetting to me.

This looks like an aircast splint to me and it is typically prescribed for ligament tears (I've had many, so I know :( ). And if that's Artur's injury, rather forget about the Moscow event in 4 weeks. This needs to be cured properly or you risk an instable ankle. The good thing: at least it's not his landing foot.

Regarding masks I hope they just took them off for taking picutures. :palmf:

Buianova already said the Cups are in doubt :eek:hwell:

In 4 weeks, he is supposed to skate at his first Cup event. Either he will skate or not. If he can't skate at his 2nd Cup event, then he will probably miss Rostelecom since it's a week later. Then there is nothing else to do for the remainder of the 2020.

Well there is always hope for next Spring. There may be local competitions he can skate at.

He will not be at Russian Cup II next week. So first competition is now Cup IV next month, Nov 8th.

RemyRose – do you know about the 4th Cup for sure? That would mean Artur is back on the ice but he and his team simply didn’t have enough time to be in good competitive shape? I’m really worried at this point because we heard nothing about Artur being back to training. However, if his team is just careful and not rushing things that’s a good thing. If he skates at the 5th event it will be still very difficult for Artur to qualify – this will be a very crowded event.

I’m so very sad for him. He has such a bad timing. If he got injured before the cancelled WC or before Quarantine, that still would have been bad, but he missed nothing, but right before a very restricted season starts and after a long break anyways that’s just very unlucky. :(

It has already been said that exceptions may be maid. I never posted the article but if I find it, I will post it here. It seems one cup event may be enough for the national team and there is still entry by coaching council. Doubt he is on the ice but you never know, I don't know what is wrong with his ankle. I'm a doctor, not that kind of doctor though. LOL. Plus Buyanova doesn't give a lot of interviews, updates I would not expect.

Vice-champion of Russia and Europe last season Artur Danielyan will not perform at the next stage of the Russian Figure Skating Cup in Moscow due to the ongoing recovery from injury, President of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) Alexander Gorshkov told RIA Novosti.
The second stage of the Russian Cup will take place on October 10-13 at the Megasport Sports Palace. Earlier, the 16-year-old skater missed the test skates of the national team due to an ankle injury.
"Danielyan will not perform (at the second stage) while he is being treated," Gorshkov said by phone.

Nice interview with Artur here:

Artur Danielyan: German doctors have revealed the true cause of my problem

The vice-champion of Russia and Europe in men's figure skating last season, 16-year-old Artur Danielyan, told Anatoliy Samokhvalov about a successful operation in Germany for his ankle problems and shared his optimism about his imminent return to the ice.

"I trained my jumps, and then there was a lot of pain"

- Artur, as I understand it, the operation in Germany was successful?
-- Yes, that's right. I would not say that I feel relief, but I am glad that the doctors identified the true cause of my ankle problem, because before that I had gone through a sufficient number of doctors, their opinions sometimes converged, then diverged, but, thanks to our federation, I was sent for a consultation to Munich. Thank you for helping with visas and flights as well. I flew through Turkey, but they didn’t want to let me into Germany for a long time. It was very difficult and ridiculous to overcome passport control at the same time, they demanded one paper after another, called the clinic. It was already physically difficult to return, since my leg was in a cast, but my sister and I, who flew with me, were lucky - we got three seats on the plane for us two and I was able to comfortably position my leg. Now all that remains is to recover.

- You started the season almost as planned. Something went wrong?
-- I already got in shape, everything was fine, I was preparing for the Test Skates, they staged a new free program, the short one was left the same. My leg bothered me, of course, but not so much that I paid much attention to it. But the loads were all the same reduced, when they were removed completely, I again gained momentum. I trained my jumps, and at some point there was severe pain. They began to find out what's what.

- Did the Germans immediately understand what was the matter?
-- Yes. Initially, our federation sent them my MRI scans, they assessed and said that they understand the problem, that I need to come and, perhaps, I will need surgery. We flew to Munich promptly, I was examined by Dr. Schneider, there they made a new MRI and sent me to a specialist who deals directly with operations and who operated on many football players and other athletes. He quickly figured out the specifics of my problem and literally in four days I had an operation. I lay in the hospital for a couple of days and was released.

- How is the rehabilitation going?
-- Starting next week, it will be necessary to remove the part that fixes my ankle, and I will begin to gently stretch my leg so it will return to normal. We coordinate all actions with the German doctors, we receive their recommendations, there is no point in speeding up the training process. Of course, I want to start working on the ice faster.

- Did those doctors give forecasts for recovery and how serious the problem now is?
-- They said that the problem has been solved, it remains for me to adhere to the recommendations, and then everything will be fine. There are no specific forecasts yet, it all depends on how soon the leg will re-develop.

- Does the situation threaten your sports career?
-- No longer, everything is fine. The coaches asked me if I was ready for the operation or not, I answered without hesitation with a yes. After all, I am only 16 years old, my whole career is still ahead, I want to please and delight all my fans. And even before the visit to Germany there was no critical state of affairs, it was just necessary to do something.

"I will do my best to recover in time for the National Championships"

- Is there a chance that you can compete this season?
-- I hope so because I want to show my new free program, new elements that I would like to restore as soon as possible. In general, I hope for the best and I am sure that everything will be fine. I am always in touch with the coaches, they support me and are waiting for me to resume work.

- Many skaters miss the stages of the Russian Cup for various reasons, apparently, the selection for the Russian Championship will not be very strict. Do you dream to recover by December?
-- I will do my best on my own, my coaches, my doctors, as well as German doctors will help me in this, and my leg, which, I hope, will go through a quick rehabilitation without any problems.

- Tell us about the new free program.
-- It will be on "Scheherazade", staged by Nikita Mikhailov, the program includes three musical parts. The music is very cool, the program is pompous, the costume is awesome! It remains only to go to the start and show it.

- Do you follow figure skating this current season?
-- I follow everyone, sometimes even with tears.

- Even like that?
- A little. I shed two tears before the September skates, at which I was as a spectator, because I was preparing for them as an athlete, I was ready to perform, but a couple of weeks before them my leg gave out, and I was forced to withdraw. Then he decided that the situation was not the end of the world, there was no need for tears, everything would be fine.

- Who do you admire this season?
-- I am very happy for Misha Kolyada, he returned and skated both of his excellent programs very cool. The rest of the guys also made progress, they all grew up. Good luck to everyone and get along without injuries! The girls have such a struggle now that it is even impossible to single out someone, and not everyone has performed at the starts yet. We must wait for the Russian Championship, when everyone will be at their peak and will be able to show their maximum.

- Sasha Trusova won the stage of the Russian Cup in Moscow, showed a quadruple Rittberger in training.
-- Sasha, it seems to me, has added in skating and showed new programs for herself and the audience. Unusual programs. Especially her short. In general, all the girls who have already competed, it seems, demonstrate almost optimal shape and good skating with a decent transfer of programs and emotions.

- Is it surprising that the skaters managed to recover so quickly, despite the pause due to the coronavirus pandemic?
-- No, it’s not surprising, after all, we all worked out every day, carried out several trainings a day, albeit not on ice. I managed to keep my form, and then it was only a matter of small things - to skate out my programs, achieve proper coordination and enter the competition. In the meantime, I want to say thank you to all my fans - for their support, for waiting for me. I hope that after this interview the situation will become clearer to them and they will not worry about me so much. I want to thank my coaches - Yelena Germanovna (Buyanova), Marina Leonidovna (Selitskaya), Uspensky Aleskandr Sergeyevich, Zavozin Maksim Igorevich, Irina Anvarovna (Tagayeva), our federation for their support, for help and everyone, everyone, everyone. Time is very precious now, everything must be done quickly.
