Artur Dmitriev has passed away at 58

Heartbreaking news. Artur was one of the greatest male pairs skaters of all time. On the ice, he was absolutely magnetic ... you could not take your eyes off him. I'm so grateful that I got to see him compete live (with Oksana) and witness his charisma in person. Over the years, I've seen a lot of wonderful skaters; and, in time, some memories fade but not so for Artur. He was a skater for the ages. I am so saddened to hear of his passing and my heart goes out to his family and loved ones. RIP, Artur. 💔

A great opportunity for any Russian pair.
I think Mishina & Galliamov could do a very good tribute program.
If Mishina & Galliamov are allowed back. They weren't for the Olympics. Why would that neutrality review outcome change? As well, there won't be any neutral Russian pairs team competing on the senior GP, as the assignments have already been announced. If a nrutral team is allowed to compete on the GP for one assignment, I hope that it will be Boikova/ Koslovski.

In any case, there are plenty of Russian skaters in pairs, repping other countries. Many could create tributes or references in one form or another to the remarkable Artur Dmitriev.

I said nothing about competition. For me, I think an exhibition is more appropriate.
Whoever felt inspired by Artur should consider whether they feel inspired to pay tribute this way no matter what nation they represent.

Yeah, an exhibition tribute makes a lot of sense, by whomever so chooses. 👍 While I respect the best abilities and a few past international competitive programs of Mishina/ Galliamov, they never fully captured my interest or devotion as a pairs team. Plus, the ISU committee that reviewed Rusfed's bid to have M/G be the top pairs choice to compete in Milan, rejected M/G for good reason.

Any recreational or ISU competitive level skater or team anywhere in the world, regardless of whether or not they have Russian heritage, or skate nationally for Russia, or upon review are allowed back internationally as neutral AIN athletes from Russia, can be inspired to honor the remarkable Artur Dmitriev in any way they are moved to do so, whether in competition, exhibition, public comment, or donation to heart research, etc. ❤️

Also, the Gala Program Valse Triste is wonderful:
Beautiful, wistful with moments of humor and boatloads of innovation. Both have beautiful smiles while skating this program. Thank you so much for posting this program.

So beautiful. I miss this kind of skating in pairs. We quite haven't seen this since.. well Artur. The leg extension and body position is so refined.

Artur and Natalia were the reason I fell in love with figure skating. He was a great skater and a great partner. He was unique and he exuded such flair such passion yet he let his partner(s) shine. The way he always kissed his partner(s)'s hand after each program :love2:. May he RIP he will be dearly missed and can never be replaced.

Few days later, I still cannot get over Arthur's death! He was not only a great pair skater, but a gentlemen with (ironically) a heart of gold!
He got me every time when he kissed his partner(s) hand at the end of a performance!

I had the privilege to see him and Oksana live a couple of times and I will cherish that forever!
One of my favourite routines of Arthur and Oksana was "Spente le Stelle" , the artistic program at the 1999 World Professional Figure Skating Championship (how I miss World Pro tour!). Although this was after their prime, the way they hit every musical accent, their chemistry and Oksana's unbelievable extensions it's unmatched today IMHO!

Unfortunately, I cannot find a better video quality, but I hope you can still enjoy it:

These programs from Dmitriev with both his partners were not only brilliant technically, but had heart and soul and artistry. I too miss these days. Very few pairs achieve this level of skating.

Thank you for posting this skate - such beautiful, creative and dramatic skating. This is what I want to see from pair skating. I Could not take my eyes off of them. I love the music too - have since Drobiazko & Vanagas - needs to be used more often.
