FIVE ICE skaters from the SM International Skating Rink will see action in the 6th Asian Winter Games to be held from Jan. 28 to Feb. 4 in Changchun, China this year.
The SM International Skating Rink, recognized as a member of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), will be entering two male skaters, Michael Gregory Novales and Jerico Lim in the men’s singles figure skating event, while Gracielle Tan, Anne Clarisse Roman and Ramina Palaca will take part in the women’s singles division.
Julian Camacho of the POC will be the country’s Chef de Mission. Representing the Philippine Skating Union is its president, Engr. Ric D. Camaligan, VP of SM Leisure Group, together with Manuel Veguillas, the secretary general, and Leonardo Aranton, the team coach.
Through the Olympic Council of Asia, this quadrennial sporting event was developed as the winter version of the Asian Games. It is the smaller version of the Winter Olympics with 45 nations expected to participate in 10 events.
