Aspen's Abbott Aspires to Worlds Podium

Colorado's Jeremy Abbott has aspirations for this season as high as the state's famous Rocky Mountains. After narrowly missing the World team last season, the Aspen native scored an impressive bronze medal at the 2007 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships which were held in his training town of Colorado Springs. This season, his goal is to medal at the World Championships in Göteborg, Sweden.

I love Jeremy Abbott's skating. I think he is one of the most musically gifted skaters in the world. But Jeremy has a real problem skating a decent SP. In each of his two GP competitions, he totally blew his SP and had to fight his way back from next-to-last and last place, respectively. But either of those SP scores (44.75 and 58.27) would have failed to qualify him for the FS at Worlds 2007, so with a similar outcome at Worlds 2008, he wouldn't even get a chance to redeem himself as he did at SC and NHK.

I would LOVE to see Jeremy prove me wrong and land on the World podium. I'd first like to see him nail his SP at Nationals. That might make a believer of me.

Jeremy has some very good points about his overall skating and should be a contender but as spoken above, I doubt he will do it.

Jeremy is my new Paul Wylie...a skater with ENORMOUS potential who can't seem to stop committing the cardinal sin of having a very bad SP in competitions! :banging: I hope he can pull a whole competition together sometime soon because I think he definitely has the talent to land on the World and Olympic podium. I love his musicality and he just floats over the ice. I can't wait to see him again in St. Paul. Go Jeremy!
