Boyang Jin

I'm new to this fan fest, so hey everyone ^^

It seems like Boyang's going to be with TCC permanently (or at least long-term) https://www.facebook.com/IFSmagazine/posts/10157372988562538

Hallelujah!! Sounds like it is official. I am excited beyond words. Best news for 2018! Couldn't wait to see his first appearance with Orser by his side. I still remember Yuzuru's first appearance at Skate America under Orser and that SP (Choreographed by Jeffrey Buttle) of Yuzu was a killer.

Brian Orser sees a little of a young Javier Fernández in 20-year-old Boyang Jin.

"He is super talented but a bit of a loose cannon, like Javi was when he came to me (also at age 20)," Orser said. "I have to give him direction and purpose. That will come with maturity."

The new president of the Chinese Skating Association, Xue Shen, the 2010 Olympic pairs champion with husband Hongbo Zhao, approached Orser at worlds in March to discuss the possibility of his coaching Jin. The skater staggered into 19th place at worlds after winning bronze the previous two years.

"With the next Winter Olympics in Beijing, she (Shen) is shaking things up a little," Orser said. "I know it's about medals, medals, medals in Beijing."

Orser said Wednesday he has had no extended conversation with Jin since the deal was struck. They chatted briefly at a show in South Korea last month, when Orser also had the meeting with Medvedeva that led to her upcoming training move to Canada.

Although Jin is in Toronto doing choreography with Lori Nichol, Orser does not expect to work with him until mid-June. The coach is going on vacation next week and then to Japan for a Hanyu ice show.

When the Japanese Skating Federation approached Orser about having Hanyu work with him in 2012, the coach asked Fernández to sign off on the idea. Orser approached the Jin situation differently with Hanyu when they met in April at the Japanese superstar's apartment in Toronto.

"I didn't really ask [Hanyu] for permission," Orser said. "I just threw it out there to get his reaction, and I didn't really get one. I'm sure if there was an issue, I would have heard about it by now."

Orser on Boyang.

http://figureskating-in-color.tumbl...welcome-to-tcc-i-really-enjoy-both-boyang-and Here's a sketch I did of Boyang today. It's been exciting to think of the new ways Boyang could grow as a skater.
Love it! Hope you do more!😆

If true, this is perfect. One like this, and a more serious one, maybe. Perfect!

Can you imagine it!? A Lori SP and a Browning LP?!?! I CAN'T EVEN!
Hopefully we get a peek of a new program at The Ice.

I don't think the LP will be choreographed yet, just deciding music cuts. They'll likely wait for the new rules to be passed.

I doubt Browning would use such much for an EX. But way to bring me down guys. 😂😂😂

I'm surprised they're using Browning instead of Nichol (thank goodness) or Wilson(since he is at TCC).

Also, I'm beginning to think Boyang and his fed is going to remain silent on these changes. C'mon Boyang! Give us something!

Maybe Kurt will do the ex.

In the clip it looks like Kurt said four (probably meaning a quad, and it looks like he pretending to jump counting revolutions), so I doubt that Boyang will be doing a quad for an exhibition. I'm excited for Boyang in this new change because I see a lot of potential in him.

Yes, I'm fairly certain it's an LP because of this.

It's perfect music for him, and would make for a very good, complex program, as long as they don't pick the very apparent comedic route in that music.

And I'm thinking Kurt+Lori collab. Browning for Boing-Boing

I see. I didn't watch the clip. Now it's definitely interesting. Boyang always had Lori for both programs in the past, right? It's like a package deal. I'd love to see a change.

In case some of you aren't too familiar with Kurts choreography work - I'm not, so I've decided to hunt down a few programs of his and get an idea. If you want to have a look too, here are some I found:

Jeremy Abbott - 2007/08 SP "Treat"
Patrick Chan - EX "Viva la vida"
Javier Fernandez - EX "Aerobic Class"
Javier Fernandez - EX "Touch of evil"
Yuzuru Hanyu - EX "Hello I love you"
Takahiko Kozuka - EX "Hello, Goodbye & Safety Dance"
Carolina Kostner - SP 2005/06 "Gabriel's Oboe" (Plus, Kurt choerographed all Caros competitive programs in 2004/05 & 2005/06)

There are also others, like a gala program for Hanee, "Welcome to the Pleasuredome", I think I never heard of before and can't even find either "xD

As you can see from the list, most are EX programs, and tbh I think it's hard to say if whatever he's doing for Boyang there is a competitive or gala program. TCC has never sent a skater to Kurt for a competitive program as far as I know, so it would honestly surprise me if they would now. But we'll have to wait and see, maybe at The Ice already.

He did quite a lot of Star On Ice a few years back too. Very classy choreography styles. I am hopeful now. :luv17:
