I have Ted Barton on commentary! I wasn't thinking anything of it at first, but have just realised I'm on Eurosport not the ISU stream.

Nice skate from Phoebe and James. I hope that they will be really proud of what they have achieved despite not getting a medal.666

Think I said this in their cheer thread but I think that they were victims of severe overscoring of another team here. 4 falls on elements shouldn't get you on the podium in my opinion! Hoping this motivates Phebe and James going into junior worlds! If this is what they can achieve after only 2 seasons, I think we're in for a treat in the next few years.

I think I agree but I’ll look at the positives that they qualified in 5th and finished in 4th and they have set themselves up very well for Worlds like Lilah and Lewis have.

I hope they have time to do a few small competitions before JW to get the levels in the FD up. Personally I think they are miles ahead of the Koreans who I like as well. I do think that if they have the budget perhaps a new dress for Phebe in the FD? I think the peach colour is not that great.

As for L&L I felt 4th was a very solid result. While obviously the Canadians fell but I think this puts them very well for Euros and, if they bring it, for Worlds. 3rd at Worlds is not off the table imo.

I love Phebe's dress D:
I love the skirt of Phebe's dress but the top keeps giving me, "OMG she forgot her top" vibes. It's the colour. The decoration is beautiful but either the base colour needs to be deeper or the decoration more substantial. At least, that's my feeling about it. Which makes no difference to my feelings about her skating, which are entirely positive.

Has anyone else seen or heard rumors of Olivia Smart & Tim Dieck teaming up? I have heard of any instagram post that may suggest this but cannot confirm. I love both skaters and am definitely intrigued by this idea.

Not heard anything - interesting! Would they be skating for Germany or UK?

I think Olivia has Spanish citizenship - she went with Adrian Diaz to the OG last year after all!

This is my feeling. I like the theme but the peach coloured top looks a little bit to much like a nude fabric.

Just wanted to update you on a story I posted in last season's thread.

Not really on topic, but did anybody see the figure skating story that Sky News has been running since last night? I saw it this morning, and thought that it might be worth sharing here. It is about a 7 year old Ukrainian figure skater who is now living in Bristol after fleeing the war.

Here is the video:

And here is the accompanying story:

https://news.sky.com/story/ukraine-...-skating-coach-to-continue-his-dream-12615459

As we all know, figure skating is expensive. And it is an awful lot more expensive in England than back home. But, he is hoping to be able to get a coach and start training again.

From what I saw in the video, he looks pretty good!

So, I hope it all works out for him.

I saw a follow-in report on Sky News this morning. But before I get to that, I have found out that there was an update in July. So, I will post that first.

Here is the video:

https://news.sky.com/video/ukrainian-skater-gets-dancing-on-ice-stars-help-12651473

And here is the accompanying story:

https://news.sky.com/story/dancing-...re-skater-who-fled-ukraine-war-to-uk-12651413

The video is not a proper report. It's one of those mobile phone vertical videos that I hate. But, the story is more comprehensive.

It tells us that, after the initial report was aired, Ameican Pairs skater Matt Evers offered to work with Gosha. It also features British Pairs skater Fiona Zaldua, who is the head coach at the rink in Britstol that Gosha trains at, talking about him.

Fast forward to now, and to the latest update. A proper report!

Here is the video:

And here is the accompanying story:

https://news.sky.com/story/ukraine-...e-uk-now-theyve-risked-a-return-home-12773562

Basically, Gosha was missing his Dad like mad. So, after living in Bristol for 4 months, he and his Mum have now returned home to Kiev.

He's still training, and we see the conditions he is training under at the rink. Suffice to say, it's not great. Because of the power shortages, the lighting is poor.

But, it was interesting to see just how many kids there were on the ice with him. Even with everything that is going on, lots of people are still going to the rink to skate.

I wish all the best to all of them! And hope that they keep safe and well.
