Looking lovely and pristine! They should do that for every FS comp held there.
Though I do agree with @CaroLiza_fan the Gala doesn’t finish till late evening Sunday night. If anyone needs to get a train home for work, it's not really possible, so Monday will have to be taken off if you live outside the area. Also to be skating Men's SP till 10.30pm is tiring.
But hope it's a huge success! Enjoy everyone who's going!

I've just thought of something, ISU Channel doesn't cover Europeans, does it? And neither does BBC. So Eurosport Player will be the only place to watch it?
I'm nearly sure that the ISU Channel did show Europeans last season.

So, you might be better off just cancelling Europort Player. If I didn't watch other things on Eurosport, I wouldn't be happy to be paying for the privilege of listening to a non-specialist commentator like Richard Vaughan, when I could listen to a specialist commentator like Mark Hanretty for free on the ISU YouTube channel.
I get the impression that now that know that they have lost the rights after this season, Eurosport just don't care about providing a quality commentary to us any more.

I watch everything on the ISU YouTube channel.I've just thought of something, ISU Channel doesn't cover Europeans, does it? And neither does BBC. So Eurosport Player will be the only place to watch it?

I'm getting the 10 hour coach home on Monday. Really, really hoping to see GB skaters win gold!
Sheffield City Trust (who run IceSheffield, where the MK John Wilson Trophy is being held) have invited around 400 excited local school children to attend one of the ISU athletes' practice sessions at iceSheffield.
I wrote to them (Sheffield City Trust today and asked if they could do something similar for the British Championships (which are always really sparsely attended - and so not a great atmosphere for the skaters), and they've said that they will be!
Hopefully, it will be a great way to inspire children/young people to learn to skate, and/or to follow the competitions and events, and that this will grow the sport in the UK.

Safe travels to everyone going to Sheffield, enjoy, and please cheer extra loud for those of us who cannot be there.
I was amused by this American article previewing the event which stated "Sheffield is only a 3 hour drive north from London! "

What are they driving in?! Malcolm Campbell's Blue Bird?!
Or, maybe more to the point, what standard of road surface do they think they will be driving on? Because if they are expecting billiard table smooth, they are in for a shock!
(No disrespect to the good work the roads maintenance people do. They do the best they can, but just don't have the funding and resources to be able to do everything that is expected of them).
EDIT: I just read the article, and it actually says Sheffield is "just shy of a three-hour train journey north from London".

I hope to see you there!Time to start the pre-packing laundry! I am so excited for this. It's been over 2 decades since I saw any high level skating from rinkside.
Edit: looks like they’ve give free tickets to school children for the Thursday. Such a great idea. (Edit I see now in my excitement I missed you post about the children @Ruthypegs. It is lovely because the pairs skaters are bowing to them and they have flags. Very noisy though!)

Yes - some of the school parties are very noisy - it's true. However, seeing the skaters is already inspiring them. The person sitting next to me told me that on her return from the cafe, she'd seen one of the children trying to replicate the skaters' moves.
Plus, much nicer for them than double maths!
Ed Appleby, Graham Newberry, Luke Digby and Anastasia Vaipan-Law all skated well in the practices today. Lilah and Lewis looked amazing. (I didn't stay for the women's practices, so didn't see Natasha McKay.)
Looking forward to seeing them all again tomorrow.
