It's time for my annual post about the Bryant Park tree lighting - you can watch the livestream starting at 6PMET on Tuesday 12/3. I will be attending and taking some videos. Excited to see Kaitlin and Jean Luc - haven't seen them perform live in over 2 years. Will be nice to see Mirai again, as well as a solo Ashley Cain and Ryan Bradley do his backflip for the third year in a row, lol.

Our annual Tree Lighting at Bank of America Winter Village returns Tuesday, December 3 at 6pm featuring:

  • Tony Award winning performer Lea Salonga
  • Performances by world-class skaters Mirai Nagasu, Ashley Cain, Kaitlin Hawayek, Jean-Luc Baker, Ryan Bradley, Ice Theatre of New York, Figure Skating in Harlem, and The Skyliners.
  • Plus singing, fireworks, and more!

This always sounds like such a fun event! One day I have to time it so I'm in NYC to see it! Enjoy!

It would be fun for you to attend sometime! They have been holding it the Tuesday following Thanksgiving for the past few years, so that should give you an idea if you want to plan next year. Almost all of the main tree lightings in NYC around town are held the week after Thanksgiving, that includes Rockefeller Center, NY Stock Exchange, South Street Seaport and others. The only one I know that has a skating show is Bryant Park's Winter Village.

I’d love to go but it’s been so bitterly cold this week I’m not sure I can manage it (still have a cough/recuperating). Hopefully someone will take videos of the skating performances (thrilled that Kaitlin and Jean-Luc are on the ice together again!)

Edit: just reread and saw there’s a livestream! And looking forward to any videos you may choose to share @apgold

As promised, here are some videos and my IG post, which has a pic at the end of Mirai with her son, Taiga. Apparently according to her IG, she was nervous about her 2A and performing in front of her son. She nailed the 2A, so good for her!

As for the show itself, Lea Salonga was a good host and beautiful singer (of course) and the performances were lovely. I especially loved seeing H/B again - they bring something so special to the ice and made me sad that they have apparently retired. I hope they continue to do more shows. Ryan brought the backflip, as I predicted and the same outfit! I'm happy to see he can still jump triples too. Ashley nearly fell on her 2A but her spirals and spins were beautiful. And Mirai (who has performed here in 2021 and 2022) still has it, even after having a baby earlier this year. And of course Jordan from OIP was there as always, working hard to capture everything.

I also enjoyed FSIH, the Skyliners and ITNY. I took video of Sarah and Aaron's performance but haven't uploaded it. I'm so glad they continue to livestream the show so folks who don't live in NY like I do or can't attend can watch the event.

The tree was gorgeous too, but I noticed there were no fireworks when it was lit. Probably because NY is still in a drought. We have had more rain recently but the weather is mostly still dry, if cold.

I hope to get back to Bryant Park in Feb for their Special Olympics show.
