While updating the status of all the pairs in the pairs index thread (active in bold, the rest with the comment about split or retirement or sitting up), I couldn't find any information about these two, so I put "status unknown" next to their names. I am glad to discover they haven't split or retired as they are on the entry list of the Volvo Open Cup 37th (6-11 November) in Riga, Latvia.

Soon I will update their OP with this season info.

I've just updated their OP. There's hardly any information about the team. If someone watched SP at French Nationals and could tell what music they skated to, I would be very grateful.

Missing SP from the French Nationals 2019

At Masters Patinage 2020 they competed as Camille Kovalev / Pavel Kovalev. Congtarulations on the marriage! Since neither Camille nor Pavel has Instagram I haven't found anything about the wedding, if it happened.

They were completely new to me (which is odd as they've been on the circuit since 2016 I am seeing here), but I was pleased to see them at the GP. Really liked them.

They were completely new to me (which is odd as they've been on the circuit since 2016 I am seeing here), but I was pleased to see them at the GP. Really liked them.

Both of them had previous partners and singles careers before partnering up on ice (and, ultimately, off ice). Camille was with Chris Boyadji (which is how I ended up adopting her); and Pavel was with Valeria Morozova and Zoe Rogovtseva.

So, they've been around even longer than that.

I plan on doing additional posts for their previous careers, but the reason I haven't yet is that I am really dithering about how best to approach it.

Normally in cases like this, I would create a thread for Camille's entire career, and another thread for Pavel's entire career. Each would contain a post about their Singles career, and a post about their Pairs career. But, since they have been together so long, it is unlikely that there would be any further activity in those threads.

The alternative, having 5 Original Posts in this thread, seems a bit excessive for a thread about just 2 skaters.

As usual, I think about things too much!

European Championships SP: Results; Protocols

No video uploaded yet 😞

Camille and Pavel finished 12th out of 21 in the SP, with a score of 56.04.

This was their long overdue debut at a Major Championship, and they did very well! Apart from some sychronicity issues, the only issue I saw was on their second element, where Camille barely more than landed the Triple Toe. And looking at the protocols, this was where they had the biggest minuses.

The only other element to produce minuses was actually the Triple Twist that they did at the start. And talk about a variety of opinions from the Judges! :drama: Two of the Judges gave +1; another two gave 0; three judges gave -2; and two judges gave -3. What is anybody supposed to take from that?! Personally, I didn't think there was anything wrong with it.

Camille and Pavel are currently 0.20 points behind 11th position, Maria PAVLOVA / Balazs NAGY (HUN), and 0.87 points ahead of 13th position, Annika HOCKE / Robert KUNKEL (DEU). They are in the middle of a bigger group that stretches up to Sara CONTI / Niccolo MACII (ITA) who are 0.24 points ahead of them in 10th position, and down to Elizaveta ZHUK / Martin BIDAR (CZE) who are 1.64 points behind them in 15th position. So, there is room for manoeuvre.

And their SP score is a new absolute PB for them, surpassing the 55.25 points they scored at their Senior GP debut at home in France earlier this season by 0.79 points!!!

The main thing, though, is that they qualified for the Free Skate.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

The Senior Pairs FS is due to start at 19:00:00 EET (17:00:00 GMT / 20:00:00 MSK). So 11 hours from now.

Camille and Pavel will be the 5th partnership to start. So, first partnership to go in Group 2.

The Group 2 Warm-Up is due to start at 19:38:50 EET (17:38:50 GMT / 20:38:50 MSK). So 11h 38m from now.

They are due to start at 19:46:20 EET (17:46:20 GMT / 20:46:20 MSK). So 11h 46m from now.
