I do think the Canadians would have been 4th if not for the fall.

Between Euros and here they're setting up the Ukrainians to pass B/A, perhaps as soon as this worlds if N/K are quitters (I don't respect healthy skaters who skip worlds after olys). I don't understand the mechanics of judging in ice dance as to what happens on the ice but I have a fair grasp of the politics.

Not everyone always agrees with the judging and that is fine, but not really cool about the "special olympian judges" comment. I have a child in my family that is special needs. Just say "you didn't like the judging " or "in your opinion it sucked".

I've never really like N/K, but know they were just great.. And it's always so moving when they cry after winning, I just love happy medallists!

And I do love the Kerrs, maybe they've will have "earned" a higher placement in 2010..

I haven't seen very many of the performances yet, but just a quick comment re: Navka/ Kostomorov. I thought they looked VERY cautious in their FD and it really didn't have much heart. Certainly not one for the ages. Perhaps this is why their program marks were closer than I think I've ever seen them to the rest of the field.
Oh, well. Gold for Dub/Lauz in Calgary! (yeah, I know. But I can dream, right?)

I agree completely. I was totally enjoying this thread until I saw that poster's 'Special Olympian' remark. That was uncalled for.

Most mentally challenged 'Special Olympians' are born that way. Judges are usually of average intellect and they freely choose to mark the skater's as they will for whatever reason. Get mad at the judges but there's no need to make offensive remarks referencing the mentally handicapped.
