Dance - Free Dance

Not being there, we can only think it had to be very serious for them to not be able to continue the program.
I don't think it necessarily means that it was a "very" serious injury. It's my understanding that there is a limited amount of time for treatment and a return to the program. In the medical staffs opinion, they may have just felt it would take more than the allotted time to diagnos and treat the injury. We'll definitely be keeping our fingers crossed for the best, but what a huge disappointment this must have been for them both.

Positive update on Emily Samuelson published by the ISU today:
<< Ice Dancer Emily Samuelson (USA), who was injured Friday during the Free Dance, successfully underwent hand surgery on Saturday in Ravensburg. “She suffered a laceration of the middle finger tendon of the left hand. It was repaired completely today by Professor Hermann Krimmer. We expect a complete recovery”, U.S. Team Doctor Dr. Craig Westin said. The surgery was done Saturday afternoon and Samuelson was expected to return to the hotel in the evening. >>

So, yes, it was pretty serious to have required surgery! Very happy to hear that she got good medical treatment and sounds like she is doing well. Hang in there, Em and Evan!!!

Any injury in this sport is scarey!!
Good luck Emily and Evan and continue on your fabulous road to fame!!
