Since the beginning of this year I’ve started skating in new skates. Edea are easier to skate in, higher, the heel is higher, bigger; they are great. But since I skate quite aggressively, and I am heavier now, the plastic does not hold so well. And when after three weeks your skates are broken and don’t support your feet, more pressure goes on your leg, especially when you make a mistake in a jump. Especially when it's a quadruple, it hurts a lot. This all affects your physical ability...
Stéphane said: "Look, the season is over, let's try something different, you have time now to do whatever you want." And so I switched to Riedell, and they are very "unforgiving". These skates are much heavier, it’s harder to break into them, took me over two months. At the same time, they give a feeling of control over the smallest details, they are very good for skating. Skating in them brings me great pleasure, this was reflected in my productivity, and my ankles hurt less. I had to learn a lot as if I started from scratch and forgot how to skate, because the heel is lower, the center of gravity and balance feel very different. The feeling was as if I got up on skis! I can’t wait to skate in them for a longer period of time to see the result.

Feel the switch had sth to do with a series of problems with Edea skates during the previous season...
Two months of breaking into skates sounds painful... Hope for a great competition in new skates :cheer:
 
First of all – congratulations to Deniss on the Olympic spot! I wouldn’t like him to take part in a bloodbath at Nebelhorn (the more we don’t know if he keeps his sword for the next season ;) )

I’m so thankful for him for the clean SP. The tango he perfomed at Nebelhorn I could watch all over again, despite of mistakes. Now we got almost flawless version - what makes a good alternative.

I love Deniss’ performance he gave before the warm-up. This look of a boss, this glare, this bow. Wow, that was incredible and very in style.

As Deniss said he would rather shave his hair off than keep any program for three seasons, I’m not sure he’s going to keep the tango for another season. If not, I’d love to see it as EX.

The mistakes he made in FS were mostly uncharacteristic and totally understandable when we know he switched to new skates of a different construction (and heavier. After all, there is a reason why the Russians set a weight limit for their skaters…). Hope he gets used to them quickly.

Both costumes underlined his figure. The Spanish commentator mentioned his masculine stature, especially wide shoulders, at least twice during SP :D

Oh, and his hair. Now I want him to grow it more and perform as the Witcher. There is a lot of good music for the games, movie and two TV series that Stephane can choose a suitable piece ;)
