Also do people remember this tweet? https://twitter.com/ChrisTrevisan/status/864464999414214656
It turns out the documentary is finally going to be shown on Latvian channel TV3 on 17 February at 19:35. The trailer is here https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1628668720555019&id=1040063609415536&_rdr :luv17:

I was wondering why the documentary didn't appear, so I'm happy that at last we will see it. :)I just put into English the trailer as the translation there was awful. The same journalist had a very sincere documentary about him last year in February.

"At last!!

I am looking forward to the next week, when Latvia will eventually be represented by figure skating in the Olympics after a 24-year break. It will be the delicate and smiling boy from Daugavpils, who is dreaming of his mother’s lasagna. He feels like a tourist in the midst of his peers and in the sports he has so high ambitions that any failure can threaten to ruin him.
Last spring we went to Daugavpils to get acquainted with our next Olympic hope, but we met a boy with a backpack on his shoulders who was loaded down with school tests. Finally, my last performance will end in the air before I go on a long vacation. (The journalist Žilde Krevica was going on maternity leave then)"

There in the comments, I found a very touching note from Ms. Pavila. It's dedicated to Deniss' granny. We know that she was a big Stephane's fan and cherished a dream about Deniss' career. But I didn't know that she has passed away.

"His grandma believed in Deniss's success. She took the little boy in the middle of the day from the kindergarten to the ice hall. Her dream back in 2004 was that once her grandson will participate in the Olympic Games and the whole family will watch Deniss live on TV. Years passed and grandma's dream has become reality. Thanks a lot that she dreamed it up, believed, helped, encouraged and for a few moments was the only one who believed from all her heart!!! That it will succeed!!! That he will achieve it!!! That once dreams come true!!! Deniss’ Grandma would be very proud now."

:thank: for translating! Aww, it is sad his grandma could not see him to the Olympics. But she will be watching over him, and would definitely be proud of the wonderful young man he has become.

We are keeping our fingers crossed for you, Deniss!! :2thumbs: Be peaceful and confident!! We love you!!:luv17:

Practice note on 16/2: 3Lz3T, 3A(ur,2ft), 3A(hangs on), 1A, 1A, marked jumps in runthru
Just when I decided to go to sleep and I saw this. Now I'm too nervous :shocked::shocked:
GOOD LUCK DENISS! HANG IN THERE! :hap10::clapper:

He still qualified, and PCS was really good. That 3Lz3T was a dream! Lots of people are bunched up around the 78-85 mark right now so it won't hurt him too much. I hope this can spur him on to skate great tomorrow, like in CoT when he popped the axel and went clean the next day :)

The first pancake is always spoiled ;)
And Deniss prefers to chase. So the only problem is European fans will have to wake up at night to cheer on him live tomorrow.
:cheer:

So sorry! :sad46: Obviously, the 1st Olympics is a tough issue!! It seems to me that this was the first time when Deniss looked embarrassed and didn't cope as he lost the brilliance and speed that he usually had even after mistakes.

Anyway, I'm sure that tomorrow he will be able to pull himself together and show them that he can be the best!!! :luv17::luv17::luv17:

It's good that Stephane wasn't so "cold" as he was with Diāna at Euros.

Good luck!!!

Feels like I really need to intervene. I don't know where this "being cold with Diana" comes from (I guess from what was shown on TV?), but he was not cold, and even afterwards going from K&C and through the mixed zone he was a supportive coach like he is. :)

Of course, we all wanted better skate for Deniss. But it's very understandable, the level of the competition was crazy (quads starting from the first warm up group), he was skating last in his group, means he needed to wait a lot, and he really, really wanted to do well. Tomorrow the pressure on him will be less and I actually think it might help him to be the one who opens the competition. Wishing him to KILL IT! :)

Thanks for all the materials that you find, bring and translate! I check here pretty often and I gradually become being more and more fond of Deniss as he is without any connection to who coaches him.

Btw, was this small piece about Olympics posted here? I'm not sure.
http://absoluteskating.com/interviews/2018ogquotes.html

P.S. They actually all bow at the Skating School at the end of the lesson, students to Stéphane and Stéphane to them, even if it's a group lesson. At every practice I saw both Deniss and Diana always bowed. So it's not some kind of new habit. ;)

I agree with Reut. I think the "warmth" was just off-camera.

I WISH DENISS ALL THE BEST TOMORROW!!! He did his best today. And ALL LEVEL 4! GO DENISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! THE COMPETITION CONTINUES ON, HE CAN MAKE UP FOR THE SP!!!!! SHOW THEM WHAT YOU'VE GOT!!!!!

Btw, 4T is still in planned contents for FP. Dear god...

Just appeared a new interview from Korea. The heading is his words- it is a real delight to be at such competition.:)

Our boy hasn't lost optimism. More or less he is satisfied. He says he was extremely worried before. What concerns jumps... There he has a problem-one week he does them very well, then one month he fails, then again everything is O.K.

https://www.diena.lv/raksts/sports/...vistiraka-bauda-but-sadas-sacensibas-14191289

The only bad thing is that he will be in the lowest group. The judges psychologically can't avoid giving lower marks. But he won't be under any pressure, so he can do his utmost.:2thumbs:

Well, I have never even thought that Stephane is cold to his students. If you noticed I put this word in quotation marks -”cold”. I really consider Stephane to be with a truly warm heart. But there, in front of the camera, Diāna looked so desperate and when she 3 times whispered ”I’m so sorry’’, then I wished Stephane would have found a single comforting word just there at the K&C.

Oh, he found word and not even one. It just wasn't on the camera. :) It's just something I read in a few places already and it is a bit disturbing because I rarely saw a coach who cares so much about his skaters. And then people drive to conclusions based on what the editor chose to show them, forgetting that it's not all that happens in that moment at that event.

O.K. I don't argue. I think I put it clear. I'm just speaking about the K&C. I felt so sorry for her.

Just got up after staying up till 6am for the last group (thanks BBC!) and 😧 I was so hoping he would not be in the first group, but to skate first? And just when his PCS mark was finally starting to move up :drama:
The one positive thing I can say is that when he skates clean tomorrow, he will have a spectacular slay count! Yes! Gotta stay positive 💪
As for jumps, well, ice is slippery and I think he is still growing because still he looks a bit taller (somehow lol) And you know, not all skaters are capable of being 100% consistent. Even the very best make mistakes at least once a competiton, but they make it up with the quality of their other elements, right? If he skates well tomorrow then the only mistake he will have made will be that 3A and then you could say he is quite consistent after all! 👼
