I've bumped into videos of Deniss' performances at Rostelecom 2016 and WC 2017 with Polish commentary. And must say that it was a jaw-dropping experience
I haven't been watching figure skating on Polish TV for ages, so it was like a return to childhood - and stepping back from fully competent British or Russian commentaries to a kind focusing on nothing but jumps. Also a skater is evaluated on a base of his jumps difficulty so you can imagine what it was said about Deniss' skating
They remind me a word I hate, used for a "step sequence": "kroczki" ("little steps"), which is in fact a disparaging diminutive. So since media create (or just pass) a conviction that only jumps really count, I understand why there are few Polish skaters I watch with pleasure...
Anyway, after just two seasons the commentators noticed that Deniss is talented :agree:
