Deniss Vasiljevs

I've bumped into videos of Deniss' performances at Rostelecom 2016 and WC 2017 with Polish commentary. And must say that it was a jaw-dropping experience
I haven't been watching figure skating on Polish TV for ages, so it was like a return to childhood - and stepping back from fully competent British or Russian commentaries to a kind focusing on nothing but jumps. Also a skater is evaluated on a base of his jumps difficulty so you can imagine what it was said about Deniss' skating ;) They remind me a word I hate, used for a "step sequence": "kroczki" ("little steps"), which is in fact a disparaging diminutive. So since media create (or just pass) a conviction that only jumps really count, I understand why there are few Polish skaters I watch with pleasure...

Anyway, after just two seasons the commentators noticed that Deniss is talented :agree:

I am also sometimes sad of our commentators who do not have a good overview ....and focus on men just for jumping especially quadruple.
I was desperate , when at Deniss's ex at the Worlds the commentator said ....he did not nothing special, but people have him applauding most of all (what they have already done performances)
(so people probably know why applauding ) :)

Jelena is writing about exams - does anybody know when they start?
At my school it was allowed to have a lucky toy during final exams - I wonder if Deniss may take this lion along ;)
He looks relaxed. And his hair seems to be quite long with no styling gel

I have some new information about Deniss and Stephane. :yahoo: They are giving an open practice on Friday, May 11 at 5.30 pm. at Daugavpils Ice Hall. The entrance is free. I don't know who else from the camp is going to be present there.

This is good news for many but not me. I'm busy and there is a 3 hours drive from Rīga. I hope that the camp turns out to be successful and next year they will come again. But I'm sure there will be some photos or videos posted. :)

Jumping wearing a suit :luv17: To some extent he reminds me David Bowie

Oh hey, I didn't think of it at first but since he is wearing a suit, he probably took this pic right before going to school
Something else - when I first opened it I thought he was wearing a hat but it was just the shadow from his arm lol

:otopic: In some of Diana's photos from Daugavplis I saw Camden Pulkinen, what's quite a surprise as I don't think he just dropped by on his way from Japan to USA to meet his buddy Koshiro  I'm a bit curious, so if anybody knows anything...

Maybe you could post it in his thread? Someone might know. And the camps are not just for Team Champery full-time students, I saw Romana Kaiser in some pics but I don't think Steph is taking her on.
Would be super cool if Camden joined the team though :agree2:

I’m hoping maybe he is getting choreography from Stéphane (or spin help - I really like Camden but his spins are a weakness). I think it’d be an interesting match!

My two cents:

I don't "know" anything, but my semi-educated guess would be that Camden is not joining Stephane on a permanent basis.

Camden's Instagram story has shown stuff from his excursion to Latvia. The vibe I am getting is of an exciting adventure -- but not of a permanent change. Just my opinion. Anyway, I hope that it will be a productive and enjoyable time for him.
