https://www.instagram.com/p/BipgXoGh4ib/?taken-at=31756217 We got a clip from the open practice. Not sure if the background music will be SP/FP music though.
https://www.instagram.com/p/BipR9-ThTx4/?tagged=daugavpils Pic 4 is interesting. It's highly likely he was practicing quad in that one. (Please skating god, give him a quad for next season!)

Hmm, I do like the bg music and it's very different to anything he's skated to thus far. But I hope it's not - they asked everyone at the practices to keep the music/program a secret for now.
 for quads! Although honestly, I don't mind when he gets them, as long as he has enough to be competitive by the pre-Olympic season so he can build momentum going towards the next Games.

Look at this handsome young man :love::love: https://www.instagram.com/p/BipJx4eh7JG/
His coach is there too I guess

OK, now I know why Camden came to Daugavpils: he took along the pole he had been practising 4A on lately
(btw. I totally forgot that four of them were in Lillehammer at Youth Olimpics: Deniss, Koshiro, Camden and Diana).

It's always stirring to watch a process of creation. The music sounds like typical EX piece, but "Sway" sounded so ;)

Interview with Deniss, done very recently https://skaties.lv/sports/citi/latv...n-nakamajai-sezonai-cerot-uz-olimpisko-zeltu/

He talks about the excitement and stress of the Olympics, and his future plans, which apparently involve going to college/university in Switzerland. Wow! I guess he has everything worked out with Stephane, since that means he plans to stay and train there for the next 3-4 years.

edit: I somehow totally missed that it also has photos from the camp :)

That's our Deniss - always planning ahead and yet also taking the time to enjoy each moment. I'm sure he will do very well at University when the time comes.

I’m excited to hear that he’s going to Swiss university, and interesting that he wants to study economics/management (especially since Chris Trevisan teaches that at a university in Lausanne). And glad that means he’ll be working together with Stéphane for years to come (not that I doubted it).

I still decided to give a bit more information about what was spoken there at the TV3 news.

After the Olympics, Deniss took part at the World Championship, ranked high in the 6th place. This is by far the best achievement of Latvian figure skaters in world championships.

"For several athletes the Olympics is the only goal. They come, show their best and then they as if ''let the air out''. I was maybe more strategically minded. The World Championship opens the new four-year Olympic cycle. It's the first competition in which the judges create some opinion of the next gold medal winner, "says Deniss.

Deniss acknowledges that the 19th place at the Olympics was a bitter lesson for him. "Everyone said that it is such a special event that it caused a big stress. Too big. But it was the kind of competition I would always want to take part in."

Deniss' coach, world champion Stefane Lambiel, also arrived in Latvia. In his opinion, the new skater has still a huge place to grow. Deniss has to become psychologically stronger, which is one of the keys to the success in this sport. The coach admires Deniss' ability to collect himself and to reach new records after the Olympics. "Figure skating is an extremely complex sport, in which physical strength has to be combined with grace. Everything is crucial - from the choice of music to costumes", emphasizes Lambiel.

"The first thing to stand up to is self-confidence, the second one - he should be on the ice as an explosive! This is the time when a new choreography is to be created, and this is a long process for the brain - to remember all the new movements, steps and arm movements, "says the trainer. :scratch3:

Meanwhile, Deniss has already put on his sports suit instead of the suit and gives open practice at the Daugavpils ice hall. To tell the truth, this month his main priority will be not skates but books. It is necessary to prepare for high school leaving exams, and Deniss is even glad to give the interview in Latvian - it's opportunity to polish up his language skills, which living abroad, are not that good any more.

"There will be no ice for me from next Monday. Unfortunately my coach is leaving. :sad4: For two weeks I will be studying and then I will take exams. I will learn very very much. I hope that I will remember everything and fully improve my skills, "says Deniss.

He certainly relates his future with figure skating - to be active in the competitions and to teach young people. This is something of vital interest for him. He is also interested in economics and plans to acquire management in a Swiss higher education institution. :agree2:

Well, my prediction was correct- he is going to study! And I'm very happy about it. More than that- it means that their tandem continues! And that is super great! :yahoo:

But I'm sad that the open practice was nowhere advertised, not even in Daugavpils. Only today there appeared news about it. There could come much more people. :furious:

Well, the open practice was organised at the last minute - to me it sounded like they weren't expecting people to come at all, so when lots of fans appeared on the first day of the camp it was a surprise! I'm just glad it happened at all, and we did get quite a few pics and videos out of it. Furthermore maybe it's better for Deniss that not many people came, he doesn't need the extra distraction of "performing" to the audience. And he can keep the music and the program private like he wanted to.

click for Deniss being cute after a fall and giving thumbsup to the stands

edit: Someone on twitter pointed out that at 3:43 he's doing compulsory figures. Gotta keep working on the SS :agree:

It crossed my mind that if Deniss studies in Switzerland, the lectures most probably will be in French (not English). It’s a new challenge! He will master his fourth language! :)

The Latvian government has honored the entire Olympic team (also Deniss, Diāna, Stephane, Chris) with a Certificate of Gratitude for their participation and good results at Pyeongchang Olympics and for their investment in Latvia's sport.

There are economics and management courses on BSc and MSc level in English at Lausanne University so he can take them if he doesn't need additional challege ;)
In fact I'm surprised he is going to study management, but his choice is reasonable - and mature.

Stéphane but litle bit too Deniss (open practice ) :)
This is pure beauty :luv17:. Hope they keep both choreo and music (I love Chopin nocturnes...) and I don't mind for which program, can be EX as well. Preferably Deniss' EX, must add ;)

I think most people are assuming it will be Stephane's new program. Although Deniss was copying some of the moves and watching intently

More pics from Daugavpils camp
Everyone seems to have had a great time :)

That's why I've written the last sentence

I wonder when the baby will be given a first pair of skates :). Great she can spend so much time with parents.
Btw. Anita is going to Champery. Choreo or more?

I was thinking that she meant for the annual 3S camp in August, but maybe more. Luke Digby has now officially moved to Champéry full time. Just think, this time last year, Deniss was the only international student, and now there are 4.
