Deniss Vasiljevs | Page 55 | Golden Skate

Deniss Vasiljevs

I *think* Koshiro will skate at Senior Japanese nationals like last year...but not sure. Either way, a packed schedule! I’m excited to see Deniss so much next month.

He has to skate at jr nationals to qualify for senior nationals though.

I am not sure either. Just found an information from Eastern Sectionals https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?65898-Eastern-Sectionals-(Japan)&p=1826742&viewfull=1#post1826742

I am sorry for the OT. But Koshiro is Deniss' pupil, isn't he?

:eeking:
Well, one might say we're discussing whether Deniss' coach will be with him at CoT or not. When is Japanese Sr Nationals? I'm sure Koshiro will qualify to Sr Nats, so Stephane might send another coach with him for now and be with Koshiro then.

Cute photo from Rostelecom practice. 🙉
And a few more: 1 2 3 4 5 :)

We finally got to the first page of threads by views! :D Next goal can be top 30.

In answer to ‘where is Deniss’ coach’ - he is in Innsbruck. He was there coaching Noah Bodenstein at Cup of Tyrol today

I suppose there are Swiss Nationals at the same time (15-16 Dec.) and it is priority for Stephane to be there. But you are right, Deniss obviously was encouraged to go to Japan alone. Great to know that he's been invited not always as a part of a student-coach team :p

This weekend I see another conflict of interest: Cup of Tyrol (4 students) - or Japanese Jr Nationals (one student, but very important event)... Which one will Stephan chose? :scratch2:

Anyway, winter is coming, so we will see more Deniss :luv17: Cup of Tyrol, Latvian Nationals, Christmas on Ice, Villars on Ice, Music on Ice - all in next 7 weeks. I can't wait!

Ah, there are Swiss Nationals on the same date, that explains the absence of Stephane. But I also think it is important for Deniss to have an opportunity to star as Deniss Vasiljevs, not the half of "DeniSte" Duo for once.
I am quite sure he will also perform at Golden Skate Award on 29th Dec. in Courmeyeur, right in the zone just 2 hours of drive from Champery. Stephane is scheduled, so the famous duo will be back there :agree:

Yes, it's fantastic that Deniss was invited back to Christmas on Ice solo. For a skater without any major medals that's a really huge deal. Not even a lot of active skaters who do have medals get invited to those Japanese shows. Japan really knows good skating, that's all I have to say. :)

I need some kind of flowchart to keep up with all the competitions this week! I don't know if I will be able to catch Deniss live, but I will do my best!

So many photos I haven't seen :yahoo: Thank you, lavenderblossom

OK, three comments that came to me immediately:
1. Deniss has the best body shape of the men shown in the photos (not that I haven't noticed it before, but there is a final confirmation :yay:)
2. Stephane seems to generate special publicity to Deniss, always taking place just by a coach of the most popular (i.e. Japanese) skater (Brian, Mihoko)
3. Stephane is probably the most attentive coach and Deniss - the most pleased skater. Even comparing to Kori-Jason team

I moved it into this thread just to say: Joking apart, Deniss. How long shall I hear from Russian commentators "Like coach, like student"? ;)
OK, I'll take it as the defending champion syndrome
Everything else was beautiful. Great 3Lz-3T and 3F. Looked pretty annoyed with himself in the KnC, but still smiled. 74.05.
And ~38 PCS :ohwell:
38? This is a joke! Come on! I know that today is Black Friday, but does it apply to PCS as well?!
Today I was late for a livestream, but tomorrow I am going to see to perfect skating and adequate judging

I know, I put :/ but I was so mad. He can't catch a break even at a Senior B where none of the big feds are participating. Judge 1 put Rizzo ahead in every category! What on earth for I don't know. :disapp:
Well, the good thing is that he got very good GOE on everything besides the axel, and highest PCS of the day. And he still has a great shot at gold tomorrow what with the scores being so close.

I was mulling over something the other day; would it be worth it for Deniss to move his 3Lz-3T to the second half for the SP/swap it around with the flip? It wouldn't be worth that much, but it would leave him a bit more energy for the flip and the axel, and those are the two that tend to give him trouble.

Edit: HQ fancam! :2thumbs:

I could not resist thinking of this a couple of months ago...:hslap:
But he'll do just fine, as long as there's no injury

Deniss won Cup of Tyrol!!! :yahoo: And he set a huge new PB of 167.26. It won't be on the ISU bio but it shows what he is capable of. He had a scratchy landing on the second 3Lz so no 3T, but everything else was perfect. I think the mistake yesterday really ignited his competitive spirit - he looked really determined and shone all the way through.

FS video here. In the choreo sequence there was no audience at that end of the rink so he turned around and

OMG, I love “baby skater” photos of the current elites and Deniss is adorable:luv17: His charm was apparent even then.

There is a treasure trove of photos from 2010-12 on his old FB here :)

It was excellent!!! Deniss did so well! What a relief!! But we have to congratulate not only Deniss. It's Stephane as well! He has 4 students and 3 medals (two golds!)!!! And Diana was very good at SP- much more confident and her body seemed slimmer. They both were so happy! Congratulations to all of them!

OMG! I was wrong- 4 students and four medals!!! Diana had a beautiful program and she won the silver!! I can imagine how happy they are!

Brilliant! I am so glad Deniss overcame the 3A problem  Wonderful job. Another couple of points added to his PB.
I went to the theatre just after Deniss' scores were announced so in the intermission I checked the final results. There was none at the event page, but thanks to lavenderblossom who provided results at the forum page I could spend a nice evening. Thank you!
Congratulations to Deniss and a whole Champery team! A bottle of wine has been opened to celebrate their success
Back home on time to watch the second group of men at SA and see that I will also medal, in our prediction game  What a Saturday!
The only that made me worried was an information on Kashiro withdrawal from Japanese Junior Nationals. Hope nothing serious.
