I think that in Japan, Deniss is always expected as a guest of the shows, but in the championship he'll be a rival for Japanese skaters. But I'm sure they will support Deniss anyway. :scratch3:

A week ago I watched my favourite figure skaters on the Eurosport for the last time. Soon the Worlds will be only memories but very bright memories, especially for me!
It hurts that Deniss’ fans can’t see the best performance in his career on Youtube. :sad4: I'm happy I can see them on Latvian TV reply.

I listened to the Russian version of the commentaries on Deniss. They talked a lot about both of them. Everything is as if already known, but I can’t resist repeating some issues once more.

Their conversation led me to the conclusion that it would be difficult to find a tandem like them in sports history. Just imagine- a coach takes an injured kid in his house, does everything he can to cure him, takes care of his everyday life, and for two seasons work with him after an individual plan. But the boy did not go just to train with a celebrity. He went there to get what he desired - a coach who would deal directly with him and have common goals.
Deniss is a boy, who at the age of 16, took his fate in his own hands. Latvians say so.:thumbsup:

At the end of the FP one of them said - look, he did not do anything extraordinary, nothing of what the grand Yuzury or Shoma do. He simply skated superbly and at least a half of the audience is giving him standing ovations!:clapper:

And Deniss' face at the end of the FP was so enraptured! The commentators also noticed it. What emotions! He is so thrilled! What a dose of adrenaline is in these eyes!

It was in September when Deniss said in the interview, ''The World Championship will be a launch of a new cycle, and from the strategic point of view it would be important to show everyone that I am worthy to fight for medals at the next Olympic Games. I have to show that they will have to reckon with me.
And he really did it!

I’m so sorry for being so talkative. Usually I'm not. However, I feel that something is missing. And now we have to wait till the new season. Hope it will be successful!

P.S Why do some people think that Stephane would not be able to learn the Latvian language. :con3: Yes, it's difficult, but he has a talent for languages. He already can say "paldies" (merci) and it sounds so beautifully and sweet.

I'm hoping with Deniss' top ten finish that he will be able to bring a teammate along to next year's WC. Looking at the Latvian nationals, it seems like junior champion Kims Georgs Pavlovs would be the closest candidate to using that second spot, although he needs to improve his technical score to get those tech minimums.

My first thought was that with his busy schedule, how would he ever have time to learn another language. I really LOVE languages, but it requires such a commitment to learn a new language. With Stephane's schedule of his students' training and competitions, his own ice shows, the international travel, and the work he does with other skaters, I can't imagine it time-wise.

Love your comments on Deniss' Worlds performance. He was definitely a highlight!

If it was Eurosport Russia, then I believe one of the commentators was Sergei Voronov. I wish I could watch the video (with English translation, of course) now that you've talked about it. I wonder if Sergei thought about his own performances at NHK this season and how he brought the house down with 2 standing ovations even though he does not do any of the more exotic quads, but simply by skating clean with passion and making the audience feel something. Years from now, whose performances will be remembered? The ones with messy, ugly quads and falls that still scored high, or the less technical ones that thrilled the crowd? Only very rarely do you get both beautiful quads and stunning performances, as with Yuzuru. But I would not agree with them that Deniss is not extraordinary

His spins, his showmanship, his skating skills...not to mention his intelligence in general. Not everyone would have been so proactive about their coaching situation, especially at 16!

One photo reminds me that I was scared to death when I saw Deniss during introducing before SP. He was extremely calm (almost impassive) and sad, as if something wrong had happened. What a contrast with how he looked like after SP!
