Deniss Vasiljevs

I don't care about DiCaprio, but, actually, it's not a bad idea at all. As I've written before, I'd love to see Deniss in some kind of sporty performance, but I wouldn't mind watching a very romantic program as well.

I'm not against a romantic program - in fact it would be nice to see Deniss in it as his only lyrical program I remember is "Bring him home" (and it was three years ago). I'm just tired of watching R+J programs recently (some 8 only last season...). So when speaking of Leo's movies, I'd rather choose "Titanic" instead, or, even better, "Total Eclipse" or "The Great Gatsby" :)

Not Titanic. I vote for The Great Gatsby.

Just a terrible thought: what if Stephane, reckoning that Deniss reminds Leonardo DiCaprio, makes a "Romeo and Juliet" program for him?
:drama: [emoji6]

OK, in fact I believe he's not so obvious in music choices [emoji23].

hahahahah to be honest, I am alright with R&J, I mean it is a warhorse for sure, but I somehow feel like he will do a great job with Romeo ......

Great Gatsby? even better..... according to the past season’s music choice, it should be an energetic and playful one and a more serious one....

I would freak out with joy if Deniss skated to Total Eclipse, I love that movie! And it's a beautiful soundtrack.

Deniss is the 16th in the world.

That's what gives me a hope that Deniss gets not only one GP assignment (based on his results at Worlds) but also the second one.

As Worlds 2020 are going to take place in Montreal, maybe Deniss (carrying on the tradition ;)) starts next season in Canada? Not sure about Skate Canada (it will be held in British Columbia this year, so probably too far away), but ACI is always a great event and it will be held in Oakville (near Toronto) which is such a beautiful place...

I don't think he'd choose something like that, well... because it is far away and it is connected with problems with jetlag, flight, change of time zones. For participation in the usual Challenger this too difficult. I'm hoping his first competition will be Lombardy or something.

Deniss's been taking part in 3S training camp in Telfs (near Innsbruck), 16-26th of May. The Eislaufschule Innsbruck shared photos taken yesterday - the last day Stephane was there (he left for FaoI which starts this Friday). Deniss will follow him for Kobe and Toyama shows, June 7-9 and 14-16. I'm really curious which programs he will perform... but hope for a new one :).

The Austrian school announced another 3S camp, from July 22 to August 4, with Ghislain Briand and Peter Grutter participation. That's probably this second camp with Ghislain mentioned in April.

And more news: ISU published new scale of values, with points for underrotaded jumps increased by ca. 0.5 pt . I really believe that Deniss told URs goodbye, and wish him fully rotaded triples and quads, but in case he would return to bad habit, at least he would get more points ;).

EDIT: Luke shared more photos from the camp.

So cool

Deniss is in Kobe where first show starts today. Seems to be in good shape. I'm really curious if he introduces new program(s) during the tour. Can't wait :dance2:.

Edit: according to Deniss' ig, he debuted with new program: "Bloodstream" by Tokio Myers, choreographed by Salome.

Judith Dombrowski posts it's this music. I like it. :luv17:
I think live version is even more impressive. I wonder if Stephane's travel to London has something to do with rights to the music... And if it will be Deniss' SP or FS (live version is longer than the official record) or just EX. Anyway, it's like the best edit of mixed music ;)

Oh, that was Moris K's music last season. I really like it! This has been a very underwhelming off season so far, so I'm thrilled to see our boy back at last :luv17:

I just realised that Deniss is the only skater participating in the show having his coach along ;) In addition, helping him to look the best :luv17:
I'm afraid this time his jumps weren't good... Hope it's just a matter of the very first performance of the program. Waiting for the broadcast scheduled for the 22nd of June (while 2nd day of Kobe shows is to be broadcast on the 15th of June).
Edit: Kobe 2nd day report: "Deniss landed everything" :yes2:

Check out Evgenia 's fan page there is a video of the ShibShibs bowling party from April SOI in Japan. Deniss is in the video.

Deniss announced another new program for FoI: “Two Men in Love” by The Irrepressibles, choreo by Sarah Dolan. As she choreographed his exhibition program last year, this one presumably is the EX as well, so "Bloodstream" shall be his competetive program. Anyway, two great pieces of music. :agree:

I love the music! I'm very grateful to Deniss for his exquisite taste, bold choices and NO recycling :pray::luv17: Something I find really lacking in skating lately! I wonder if he chose this piece for any particular reason... :scratch2:

I love his music choices so far, and especially two men in love. I can really picture him skating it.

No matter the intention, it’s a brave choice. I’m proud of him. I’m looking forward to seeing it and to hearing him talk about it too.

Kobe shows ended with lovely photos. Judging from Deniss' hairstyle, he chose something about medieval knights for the 3rd program .

I wonder if he chose this piece for any particular reason... :scratch2:
How about this: "Steph wanted me to skate to R&J (as I'm reputedly alike young Leonardo, ha ha), but: 1. it's a tragic story and I'm not in such a mood, 2. it's tragically overused. So I decided to take a story of my buddy Eric, which is dramatic but not tragic and definitely not overused".
