Dillon finished 24th out of 26 in the FS, with a score of 83.53. This meant that he remained in 24th position overall, with a score of 133.73.

Unfortunately, due to the time difference, I wasn't able to watch the Free Dance LIVE. However, I have now started playing catch-up on the archived livestream, so here is the sort of comment I would have written about the Warm-Up if I had been watching LIVE:

Dillon came out of the curtain, gave two waves to the audience on either side with his right hand, and then walked so calmly to the ice.

I love the top he is wearing, both the design and the colour (although, I couldn't describe the colour! ) He has it paired up with black trousers.

When the camera came to Dillon during the Warm-Up, he was starting to line up a jump, which he then executed beautifully. I was trying to listen to what PJ Kwong was saying about him, but Ted and Mark were spouting the ISU's propaganda about how great it is to have a stand-alone Olympic Qualifying Event, even though we had all seen barely an hour earlier the reason it should have stayed in Oberstdorf.

Anyway, the camera stayed with Dillon for a while, zoomed in so that we could see his face. To me, he looked really nervous. He went down the rink parallel to the boards, and then turned around and came back again. It seemed like he was unsure, and couldn't decide what to do next.

We didn't see him again until the next time the camera focussed on him. He was heading towards his coach, talking to him, and then stopped to have a drink of water. And he shrugged his shoulder as he was putting the lid back on the bottle. It looked like he was about to head out again, but the picture switched to another skater.

In the last minute, we saw him heading towards the camera, and scratching his head.

The next time we saw Dillon, he was zooming to the gate at the end of the Warm-Up, and was the first to get there and leave the ice. He already had his skate guards in his hands, so he must have picked them up before he headed to the gate. Which is actually a good idea, as it helps prevent delays in getting off the ice.

I have to say, after seeing him in the Warm-Up, I'm worried. He seems very nervous. And the self-doubting is showing.

Come on! You can do it!

CaroLiza_fan

I did actually pop in just as Dillon was being introduced to wish him all the best:

@4everchan was being helpful, and replied:

To which I explained:

And he replied with an "OK" (I'm not quoting it for the sake of two letters! )

And here is the sort of comment I would have written about his programme if I had been watching LIVE:

Dramatic choreography at the start to go with the music.

Just about kept his balance landing the Triple Flip.

Beautiful combination jump

Triple Lutz beautiful. And so was the Flying Sit Spin

Ach, hand down on Triple Toe.

But Camel Spin that followed was good.

Choreographic Sequence good, but I still really don't like sliding on the ice or touching the ice with your hands.

Landing on the Triple Salchow a bit iffy.

All three parts of the sequence of jumps didn't go well. You can see he is tiring.

Step Sequence really slow. He is running on empty now.

But he manages to do a pretty nice Double Loop and Combination Spin to finish with.

Mark and Ted also both noticed that Dillon ran out of juice in the second half.

Mark told us the guy with Dillon is called Andrew Smith. I looked him up, and he is a Scottish skater turned choreographer.

They are having a right chin-wag while waiting for the scores!

Dillon goes into the lead of both the FS and overall.

There were actually only two comments about Dillon posted LIVE in the competition thread. The first came from our resident video archive list compiler, @labgoat, who complimented him on a technical matter:

And the second was from Swedish member @Jontor, who commented:

We generally are! Unfortunately, it's the bad eggs that get the most publicity.

Dillon finished the Free Skate 15.07 points behind 23rd position, Ze Zeng FANG (MAS), and 3.24 points ahead of 25th position, Gabriel MARTÍNEZ (ECU).

Overall, Dillon finished 22.14 points behind 23rd position, Fang, and 9.50 points ahead of 25th position, Martínez.

You know, when I wrote the report about Anna VALESI / Martin BIDAŘ (CZE)'s Free Skate for their Fan Fest thread, I commented that maybe it wasn't wise for them to do the Lombardia Trophy a few days before heading to Beijing. Well, with Dillon, I think it would have helped him if he had competed in something before going to the Olympic Qualifying Event, rather than being thrown in at the deep end. Not only would he see how his new programmes go down with the Judges, but he would also see how he fares himself with doing them in a competitive envronment.

Were it not for the short turnaround, the Lombardia Trophy would have been perfect, as it is held on the rink that Dillon trains at. And I don't know if there have been any domestic events in Italy that he could have taken part in as a guest skater. But, the Robin Cousins Cup would have been a good option. Hey, going to it worked wonders for my other Singles kid that was in Beijing, Stefania YAKOVLEVA (CYP).

Dillon is skating better now than I have ever seen him skate before. He just needs to work out how to pace himself during this Free Skate programme. But, that will come as he gets more competitive experience with it.

This week, he achieved his second highest ever score for the SP. And once he gets himself conditioned for the FS, I can see something similar happening with it too.

Based on what I saw in Beijing, I think this is going to be a good season for Dillon.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

Tayside Trophy Senior Men's SP: Results; Protocols

Dillon finished 11th out of 11 in the SP, with a score of 37.27.

Unfortunately I was not able to watch the Tayside Trophy, as I was watching the penultimate round of the World Superbikes from Portugal.

Dillon is currently 13.88 points behind 10th position, Ken FITTERER (GBR), and 19.83 points ahead of 9th position, Lucas FITTERER (GBR).

Being realistic, even if one of the Fitterer brothers has a disaster skate, Dillon is going to remain in last position. So, this is an opportunity for him to just go out there without any worries about positions, and just do the best that he can, and attempt to improve his Personal Best scores for the FS and overall.

:cheer: WELL DONE DILLON!!! :cheer:

The Senior Men's FS is is due to start today at 18:01:00 BST (17:01:00 GMT / 19:01:00 CEST). So 11 hours from now.

The Group 2 Warm-Up is due to start at 18:01:00 BST (17:01:00 GMT / 19:01:00 CEST). So 11 hours from now.

And that is as much as I can tell you, because the Time Schedule PDF's for today are not working.

Tayside Trophy Senior Men: Results

No video uploaded yet 😞

Dillon finished 11th out of 11 in the FS, with a score of 74.16. This meant that he remained in 11th position overall, with a score of 111.43.

Unfortunately I was not able to watch the Tayside Trophy, as I was watching the penultimate round of the World Superbikes from Portugal.

Looking at the Protocols, there is actually only one element that had positive GOE. But, it is not as bad as it initially sounds, because three elements had neutral GOE. Of the seven elements with negative GOE, we only had indications of what the issue was for three of them.

Dillon fell on the first element, the Triple Flip, which was landed on the wrong edge. It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.12. Unsurprisingly, all five Judges gave it -5.

The fifth element, the Triple Toe, was under-rotated. It had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.68. It got -5 from four Judges; and -4 from Judge 4.

Dillon also had a fall on the tenth element, the Step Sequence. It had the third biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.75. And because it already had the lowest Base Value, it remained as the lowest scoring element of the programme. Unsurprisingly, all five Judges gave it -5.

As I said, he had one element with positive GOE. This was the second element, the Triple Lutz. It got +0.20 in GOE, and because it already had the highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the highest scoring element of the programme. It also got +2 from Judge 1; +1 from Judge 2; and 0 from the remaining three Judges.

As well as the Triple Lutz, there were three other elements that had a +1 amongst their Judges Scores. These were the fourth element, the Flying Sit Spin, which got it from Judge 5; the seventh element, the Choreographic Sequence, which got it from Judge 4; and the eighth element, the Triple Salchow, which also got it from Judge 4.

Dillon finished the Free Skate 17.87 points behind 10th position, Aurelian CHERVET (CHE), and 27.43 points behind 9th position, Ken FITTERER (GBR).

Overall, Dillon finished 41.31 points behind of 10th position, K. Fitterer, and 46.63 points behind 9th position, Chervet.

Having looked at the paperwork, I am glad I didn't get to watch the stream. Dillon doesn't seem to have a lot of confidence in himself, so I can imagine how he would have been beating himself up after that skate.

But we all have off-days. And it is early in the season, when he is still getting used to the new programmes. So, the way to look at it is that it is better that it happened here, at a smaller event that doesn't count towards all of the ISU's record keeping. And by the time he gets to an event where it does matter, things will go better better because he has more experience with the programmes.

Denkova-Staviski Cup Senior Men's SP: Results; Protocols

No video uploaded yet 😞

Dillon finished 8th out of 9 in the SP, with a score of 37.59.

Unfortunately I was not able to watch the Denkova-Staviski Cup.

Looking at the Protocols, they are not pretty. It pretty much says it all when there were three elements with -5 from all five Judges, as well as an invalidated element. Oh, and three points deducted, two of which were for Falls and the other for a Time Violation.

He fell on the opening element, the Triple Lutz. It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.95, but because it had the highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the highest scoring element of the programme. It got -5 from all five Judges.

The second element was a combination jump where the Triple Flip was followed by a Toe that was invalidated. It had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.65, but because it had the second highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the second highest scoring element of the programme. It got -5 from all five Judges.

The fourth element was the Double Axel, and he fell on it. It had the third biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.65, which meant it went from having the third highest Base Value of the programme to being the second lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -5 from all five Judges.

The final element, the Change Foot Camel Spin, was invalidated.

For the remaining three elements, the GOE ranged from -0.12 for the penultimate element, the Step Sequence, to +0.23 for the thrid element, the Flying Camel Spin. Apart from a -2 from Judge 4 for the aforementioned Step Sequence, and a +2 from Judge 5 for the aforementioned Flying Camel Spin, all the Judges marks for these three elements were in the -1 to +1 range.

Dillon is currently 10.77 points behind 7th position, Filip KAYMAKCHIEV (BUL), and 2.38 points ahead of 9th position, Larry LOUPOLOVER (BUL).

Dillon is too far behind the Top 7 to be able to climb up any, but Loupolover is within striking distance behind him. So he does need to have a good Free Skate to avoid finishing in last position. With only one behind him, he may as well just go all for it, and hopefully it will result in a him bettering his Absolute Season's Best scores, if not his Absolute Personal Best scores.

Dillon finished 9th out of 9 in the FS, with a score of 80.61. This meant that he dropped to 9th position overall, with a score of 118.20.

Unfortunately I was not able to watch the Denkova-Staviski Cup.

Looking at the Protocols, there were seven elements that had issues, but the Protocols only tell us what the issue was with one of them. Consequently, I will only mention a selection of these elements in this report.

The opening element, the Triple Flip, had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.47, which meant that it went from having the third highest Base Value of the programme to being the sixth highest scoring element of the programme. The Judges gave it three -5's; and two -4's.

The third element, the Triple Lutz, had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.97, which meant that it went from having the third highest Base Value of the programme to being the third highest scoring element of the programme. The Judges gave it two -4's; and three -3's.

In the ninth element, the Double Lutz-Double Axel done in sequence, the Axel was landed on the quarter, and he fell. It had the third biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.65, which meant that it went from having the highest Base Value of the programme to being the second highest scoring element of the programme. Unsurprisingly, it got -5 from all five Judges.

For the remaining four elements with negative GOE, the GOE ranged from -0.50 for the final element, the Change Foot Combination Spin, to -0.15 for the fourth element, the Change Foot Sit Spin. The Judges marks for these elements ranged from -2 to 0.

Three elements got neutral GOE. The second element, the Double Lutz, got -1 from Judge 3; and 0 from the remaining four Judges. The seventh element, the Choreographic, got 0 from all five Judges. The penultimate element, the Double Loop, got 0 from four Judges; and +1 from Judge 1.

For the remaining elements, the GOE ranged from +0.23 for the sixth element, the Flying Camel Spin, to +0.28 for the fifth element, the Triple Toe. All the Judges marks for these two elements were either 0 or +1.

Dillon finished the Free Skate 7.07 points behind 8th position, Larry LOUPOLOVER (BUL), and 24.48 points behind 7th position, CHEUNG Chiu Hei (HKG).

Overall, Dillon finished 4.69 points behind of 8th position, Loupolover, and 35.58 points behind 7th position, Filip KAYMAKCHIEV (BUL).

To be fair, even if Dillon had not had so many issues, he would still have finished the Free Skate in last position. The total Base Value of his programme was so much lower than the programmes of the other skaters in the field. The programme with the second lowest total Base Value, that of Alexander ZLATKOV (BUL), who finished the FS in 4th position, was worth exactly 11 points more than Dillon's programme.

When writing my report about the FS that Marilena Kitromilis did a few hours earlier, I suggested that she and her team should try using the tactic that Stefania Yakovleva's team is using: Give the skater a programme that has a high Base Value to start with, so that they can still get a high score even if they do not have a good skate. It has worked for Stefania - she was won competitions using this tactic. But, because Dillon does not have a lot of confidence in himself, I'm not sure whether this would be a good tactic to use on him. It could backfire.

Even if they do not go too far, I do think the value of Dillon's FS programme does need to be increased.

Cup Of Innsbruck Senior Men's SP: Results; Protocols

Dillon finished 7th out of 8 in the SP, with a score of 37.59.

Unfortunately I was not able to watch the Cup Of Innsbruck.

Looking at the Protocols, there was only one element that got positive GOE. Another element was invalidated, and the rest got negative GOE. However, the Protocols only tell us what the issue was for one of the elements. Which we will get to shortly.

The opening element, the Triple Lutz-Double Toe, had the third biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.98, but because it had the highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the highest scoring element of the programme. In terms of Judges marks, it got three -2's; and two -1's.

The second element, the Triple Flip, didn't have a clear edge. It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.65, but because it had the second highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the second highest scoring element of the programme. It got -5 from all five Judges.

The fourth element, the Double Axel, had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.32, which meant that it went from having the third highest Base Value of the programme, to being the scond lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -4 from all five Judges.

The fifth element, the Change Foot Combination Spin, had the second smallest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.25, which meant that it went from having the third lowest Base Value to being the third lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -1 from all five Judges.

The penultimate element, the Step Sequence, had the smallest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.30, and because it already had teh lowest Base Value of the programme, it remained as teh lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -3 from Judge 3; -2 from two Judges; and -1 from two Judges.

The final element, the Change Foot Sit Spin, was invalidated.

The third element, the Flying Camel Spin, had the only positive GOE of the programme, at +0.15, which meant it went from having the second lowest Base Value of the programme, to being the third highest scoring element of the the programme. It got -1 from two Judges; 0 from Judge 2; and +1 from two Judges.

Dillon is currently 10.18 points behind 6th position, Noah BODENSTEIN (CHE), and 1.16 points ahead of 8th position, Anton SKOFICZ (AUT).

The exact same situation as last week. Dillon is too far behind the Top 6 to be able to climb up any, but Skoficz is within striking distance behind him. So he does need to have a good Free Skate to avoid finishing in last position. With only one behind him, he may as well just go all for it, and hopefully it will result in a him bettering his Absolute Season's Best scores, if not his Absolute Personal Best scores.

Dillon finished 8th out of 8 in the FS, with a score of 78.68. This meant that he dropped to 8th position overall, with a score of 120.13.

Unfortunately I was not able to watch the Cup Of Innsbruck.

Looking at the Protocols, there were only two elements that did not get negative GOE. One of them was neutral, and the other one was positive. However, there were only two elements where the issues were significant enough to be noted.

The first element, the Triple Flip, didn't have a clear edge. It had the second smallest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.24, which meant it went from having the lowest Base Value of the programme, to being the joint second lowest scoring element of the programme. In terms of Judges marks, it got two -2's; and three -1's.

The second element, the Triple Lutz, had the third biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.98, but because it had the second highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the second highest scoring element of the programme. The Judges gave it three -2's; and two -1's.

The third element was Double Lutz-Double Axel-Double Axel done in sequence. The final Double Axel was under-rotated, and I assume it was it that he fell on. It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.65, but because it had the highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the highest scoring element of the programme. Unsurprisingly, because of the fall it got -5 from all five Judges.

The seventh element, the Choreographic Sequence, had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.17, which meant that it went from having the fifth highest Base Value to being the fourth lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -4 from Judge 5; -3 from Jusge 4; -2 from two Judges; and -1 from Judge 2.

Just so that you know the range of the elements with negative GOE, the sixth element, the Flying Camel Spin, had the smallest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.23. It got -2 from two Judges; -1 from Judge 2; and 0 from two Judges.

The Judges marks for the elements with negative GOE ranged from -5 to 0, and included all marks in that range.

The fourth element, the Chaneg Foor Sit Spin, was completely neutral in terms of both GOE and Judges marks.

The eight element, the Triple Salchow, had the only positive GOE of the programme, at +0.14, and because it had the third highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the third highest scoring element of the programme. From the Judges, it got three 0's; and two +1's.

Dillon finished the Free Skate 2.38 points behind 7th position, Anton SKOFICZ (AUT), and 13.24 points behind 6th position, Tim ENGLAND (DEU).

Overall, Dillon finished 1.22 points behind of 7th position, Skoficz, and 24.96 points behind 6th position, England.

Less than 1.5 points from remaining in 7th position. :drama: Last time out in Sofia, I commented that the Base Value of DIllon's FS programme needed to be increased. And it was. The Base Value of Dillon's programme was considerably more than Skofoficz's FS. And even when the GOE was applied and he was left with a much lower Technical Elements Score, it was still a couple of points higher than Skofoficz's TES.

The Programme Components Score was the reason that Dillon finished last in the FS and, hence, overall. Dillon's PCS was the lowest of the field. So, now that the programme's Base Value has been increased, this is the next thing that needs to be worked on.

Dillon finished 7th out of 7 in the FS, with a score of 63.11. This meant that he climbed to 7th position overall, with a score of 108.40.

Unfortunately, the stream did not come back from the resurfacing until the third guy to skate was getting his scores. So, we missed Dillon.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread at the time:

Looking at the Protocols, it's maybe a good job they didn't come back. Because I would not have wanted to see Dillon's reaction to what happened.

I'm not going to go through any elements individually. Suffice to say, it was a disaster skate. FOUR falls, resulting in SIX points in deductions.

Dillon finished the Free Skate 35.19 points behind 6th position, Burak DEMIRBOĞA (TUR), and 45.28 points behind 5th position, Aurelian CHERVET (CHE).

Overall, Dillon finished 53.29 points behind 6th position, Demirboğa, and 56.98 points ahead of 8th position, Başar OKTAR (TUR).

Dillon is in action at the Golden Spin Of Zagreb in a few days time, and it's hard to know whether this is a good thing or a bad thing. It could be an opportunity to quickly exorcise his experience in Istanbul. But, if it preys on his mind, it could affect his skating. And another bad result is the last thing he needs.

So, for his sake, I hope he has a good showing in Croatia.

Golden Spin Of Zagreb Senior Men's SP: Results; Protocols

No video uploaded yet 😞

Dillon finished 22nd out of 22 in the SP, with a score of 47.91.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Golden Spin Of Zagreb, as I was concentrating on the Grand Prix Final.

Looking at the Protocols, although there was only one element with positive GOE and some positive Judges marks, it wasn't as bad as it sounds. There were no falls, and no notes next to any of the elements.

The opening element, the Triple Lutz-Double Toe, had the only positive GOE of the programme, at +0.47, and because it already had by miles the highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the highest scoring element of the programme. It got 0 from two Judges; +1 from four Judges; and +2 from Judge 7.

The final element, the Change Foot Sit Spin, had neutral GOE, which meant that it went from having the fourth highest Base Value of the programme, to being the third highest scoring element of the programme. It got a real variety of Judges marks, with -2 from Judge 4; -1 from two Judges; 0 from Judge 5; +1 from two Judges; and +2 from Judge 1.

The remaining elements had GOE ranging from -0.64 for the third element, the Flying Camel Spin, to -0.12 for the fifth element, the Change Foot Combination Spin. Apart frm two -4's from Judge 2 (for the aforementioned Flying Camel Spin, and the sixth element, the Step Sequence), the Judges marks for the elements with negative GOE were in the -3 to 0 range.

Dillon is currently 7.87 points behind 21st position, David SEDEJ (SVN), and 11.94 points behind 20th position, Alp Eren ÖZKAN (TUR).

Unfortunately, the gaps mean that there is little chance of Dillon moving up unless Sedej makes mistakes. So, he can concentrate on trying to improve his absolute PB scores.

I hope he does. It must be demoralising being at the bottom of the results tables so many competitions in a row

The Group 3 Warm-Up is due to start at 17:45:00 CET (16:45:00 GMT). So 11 hours from now.

Dillon is due to start at 17:51:30 CET (16:51:30 GMT). So 11h 6m from now.

Golden Spin Of Zagreb Senior Men: Results

No video uploaded yet 😞

Dillon finished 22nd out of 22 in the FS, with a score of 80.40. This meant that he remained in 22nd position overall, with a score of 128.31.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Golden Spin Of Zagreb, as I was concentrating on the Grand Prix Final and the final round of the Formula 1.

Looking at the Protocols, nine of the twelve elements had negaitive GOE. But the Protocols only tell us what the issue was for three of them. So, I will focus on the elements with the four biggest GOE hits.

The third element, the Triple Lutz, ahd the third biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.94. But beause it had the third highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the third highest scoring element of the programme. It got Judges marks of four -2's; and three -1's.

He fell on the seventh element, the Choreographic Sequence. It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.50, which meant that it went from having the sixth highest Base Value of the programe, to being the lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -5 from all seven Judges.

The ninth element, the Triple Salchow, was under-rotated, which meant he couldn;'t attach another jump onto the end of it. And because he had just done another Triple Salchow as his eighth element, it was called as a repeated element. It had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.72, which meant it went from having the fifth lowest Base Value of the programme, to being the second lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -5 from six Judges; and -4 from Judge 2.

In the penultimate element, the Double Loop-Single Axel-Double Axel done in sequence, the Double Axel was landed on the quarter. It had the fourth biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.92, but because it had the second highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the second highest scoring element of the programme. The Judges gave it five -3's; and two -2's.

The remaining elements with negative GOE had GOE ranging from -0.79 for the tenth element, the Step Sequence, to -0.12 for the second element, the Triple Lutz-Double Double Toe. But because the second element had the highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the highest scoring element of the programme. Apart from a -2 from Judge 2 for the final element, the Change Foot Combination Spin, all the Judges marks for these five elements were -1 or 0.

Were it not for a -1 from Judge 7, the aforementioned Triple Salchow that was done on it's own as the eighth element would have been completely neutral in terms of GOE and Judges marks.

The opening element, the Double Flip, had the second highest GOE of the programme, at +0.07, which meant that it went from having the lowest Base Value of the programme, to being the third lowest scoring element of the programme. The Judges gave it four 0's; and theree +1's.

The fourth element, the Change Foot Sit Spin, had the highest GOE of the programme, at +0.09, which meant it went from having the second lowest Base Value of the programme, to being the sixth lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -1 from two Judges; 0 from four Judges; and +1 from Judge 1.

Although Dillon's programme did have the lowest total Base Value of the field, it was actually only 0.70 points lower than the programme with the second lowest total Base Value, that of Jakub LOFEK (POL). But Lofek only lost 1.30 points through GOE, whereas Dillon lost 7.81 points through GOE. DIllon also had the lowest Programme Componets Score of the field, which was 4.83 points lower than the skater with the second lowest PCS, David SEDEJ (SVN).

Dillon finished the Free Skate 20.54 points behind 21st position, David SEDEJ (SVN), and 30.53 points behind 20th position, Jakub LOFEK (POL).

Overall, Dillon finished 28.41 points behind 21st position, Sedej, and 43.14 points ahead of 20th position, Valtter VIRTANEN (FIN).

Unfortunately, I think it is becoming clear that the sport is moving forward at a pace that Dillon cannot keep up with. The irony is, the scores he is getting are actually good. But, the opposition are just getting better scores.

It is at times like this that I wish that figure skating had a lower international tier like there is in ski sports. There, if somebody is consistently finishing down the order in the World Cup competitions, there is the option to drop back to the Continental Cup, where they can get higher finishing positions, which will help re-build their confidence. But whereas a lot of countries do have the equivalent of this at domestic events, it doesn't exist on the international circuit.

Well, I suppose those skaters that are in the age overlap between Juniors and Seniors do kinda have this kind of option, as they can go back to Juniors to try to re-group. That is what another of my kids that is struggling has done. But, it is not fair that those skaters outside of the age overlap, like Dillon, do not have somewhere to go to re-group.

Dillon, don't even look at how anybody else is doing. Just you concentrate on what you are doing.

The Group 1 Warm-Up is due to start at 16:15:48 CET (15:15:48 GMT). So 10 hours from now.

Dragon Trophy Senior Men's SP: Results; Protocols

No video uploaded yet 😞

Dillon finished 2nd out of 3 in the SP, with a score of 56.69.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Dragon Trophy, as I was concentrating on Four Continents.

Looking at the Protocols, there was only one issue. The final elemet, the Change Foot Sit Spin, had the only GOE hit of the programme, at -0.61. It already had the lowest Base Value of the programme, so remained as the lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -3 from three Judges; -1 from Judge 3; and 0 frm Judge 2.

The second element, the Double Axel, was completely neutral in terms of both GOE and Judges marks. It had the joint third lowest Base Value of the programme, and so remained as the joint third lowest scoring element of the programme.

The penultimate element, the Step Sequence, had neutral GOE. It was the other element that had the joint third lowest Base Value of the programme, so it too remained as the joint third lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -1 from two Judges; 0 from Judge 2; and +1 from two Judges.

The remaining elements had GOE ranging from +0.28 for the third element, the Flying Camel Spin, to +0.59 for the opening element, the Triple Lutz-Double Toe. This latter element had by far the highest Base Value of the programme, so it remained as the highest scoring element of the programme. The Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE were all in the 0 to +2 range.

Dillon is currently 3.14 points behind 1st position, David SEDEJ (SVN), and 2.76 points ahead of 3rd position, Larry LOUPOLOVER (BUL).

You know, it looks like the break really helped Dillon. In his last competitive outing, Sedej was one position ahead of Dillon in the SP, but the gap between them was double what it is here.

With this in mind, if Dillon has a good Free Skate, I would not rule out the possibility of upgrading the colour of his medal. And that would really give him a boost for the remainder of the season.

Oh, I hope he does have a good Free Skate!

:cheer: WELL DONE DILLON!!! :cheer:

The Senior Men's FS is is due to start at 14:15:48 CET (13:15:48 GMT). So 8 hours from now.

Dillon will be the 2nd and middle skater to start. So, second and middle skater to go in Group 1.

The Group 1 Warm-Up is due to start at 14:15:48 CET (13:15:48 GMT). So 8 hours from now.

Dragon Trophy Senior Men's FS: Results; Protocols
Dragon Trophy Senior Men: Results

No video uploaded yet 😞

Dillon finished 3rd out of 3 in the FS, with a score of 94.83. This meant that he dropped to 3rd position overall, with a score of 151.52.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Dragon Trophy, as I was concentrating on Four Continents.

Looking at the Protocols, there were issues with five elements, although we are only told what the issue was for two of them.

The opening element, the Triple Flip, was landed on the wrong edge. It had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.12, which meant that it went from having the fifth highest Base Value of the programme, to being the second lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -5 from four Judges; and -3 from Judge 3.

The fifth element, the Triple Toe, had the third biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.82, which meant it went from being the sixth highest scoring element of the programme, to being the lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -5 from two Judges; -4 from two Judges; and -3 from Judge 2.

In the ninth element, the Triple Salchow-Single Toe, the Triple Salchow was landd on the quarter, and the Single Toe was downgraded. It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.15, which meant it went from having the joint third highest Base Value of the programme, to being the fifth lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -5 from all five Judges.

The tenth element, the Step Sequence, had the smallest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.11. By some strange quirk of fate, this meant that it went from being the fifth lowest scoring element, to being the sixth highest scoring element. It got -2 from Judge ; -2 from Judge 5; and 0 from the remaining three Judges.

The eleventh element, the Double Loop-Double Axel done in sequence, had the second smallest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.66, which meant it went from having the second highest Base Value of the programme, to being the third highest scoring element of the programme. It got -2 from all five Judges.

Four elements had neutral GOE. Of these, the second element, the Triple Lutz-Double Toe, had by far the highest Base Value of the programme, and so remained as the highest scoring element of the programme. Apart from a -1 from Judge 1 and a +1 from Judge 4 (both of which were for the sixth element, the Flying Camel Spin), all the Judges marks for the elements with neutral GOE were also neutral.

For the remaining elements, the GOE ranged from +0.33 for the seventh element, the Choreographic Step Sequence, to +0.52 for the fourth element, the Change Foot Sit Spin. The aforementioned Change Foot Sit Spin got +2 from four Judges; and +3 from Judge 2. All the remaining Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE were 0 or +1.

Dillon finished the Free Skate 2.93 points behind 2nd position, Larry LOUPOLOVER (BUL), and 31.85 points behind 1st position, David SEDEJ (SVN).

Overall, Dillon finished 0.17 points behind 2nd position, Loupolover, and 34.99 points ahead of 20th position, Sedej.

Oh, boys! Dillon was so close to holding onto second position and claiming the 🥈 Silver Medal.

Truth be told, the finishing order in the FS was always going to be Sedej-Loupolover-Judge, because there was a difference of about 10 points between the Base Values of each of the programmes.

It should be noted that Dillon had the second highest Programme Components Score of the field in both the SP and the FS.

All in all, although he again finished in last position, this is a great result for Dillon.

And we don't have long to wait to see Dillon again, as he is entered in the Edge Cup in Katowice, Poland, this week.
