Dutch Figure Skating 2024-2025

Until now, Niki is still on the entrees list of Golden Spin. I realise quite a few originally submitted entrees withdrew, so she might also, but I am hoping she stays. Even though nobody can see that competition (there never is a stream and the live scoring is abominable), I still hope she competes, and - obviously - does well!

At the Bosphorus Cup in Turkeye, Hanna and Alessio are currently in 7th place, and Chelsea and Sherim in 10th place, after the Rhythm Dance. In points the difference is slightly more that 1,5. Both have more than 60.

At the Santa Claus Cup in Budapest, Hungary in

Basic novice women: Anastasia Zentveldt ended in the 17th place.
Advanced novice women: Summer Wijkhuizen is in 13th place and Chiara Ballirano in 25th place after the SP.

Well done all! :hap10::hap10::hap10:

It is with a sore heart that I have to tell you all that Chelsea had a bad fall at the start of the FD at the Bosphorus cup. It's a miracle they finished their FD at all, as Chelsea seemed dazed in the KnC. Both she and Sherim were very disappointed, as they dropped from 10th to 14th, while in their last outing their FD had been outstanding. I am just hoping she is alright. 😢🩷
Hanna and Alessio did alright, and remained in 7th place (although they were 8th in the FD).
Well done for both couples, and I sincerely wish Chelsea is looked after and recovers. :cheer::cheer:

At the Santa Claus Cup Niki seems to be on the roll again as she is in 3rd place after the SP. I hope she keeps it up!:points:. The other Dutch sr women are in 17th (Saskia Oudejans), 18th (Lois Libregts), 19th (Imke Jagersma) and 21st (Alessia Ballirano) place. Hoping for good Frees tomorrow! In jr women Lucca Dijkhuizen is in 17th, and Kahlan Gooijer in 23rd place after the SP. :hap10::hap10:
In adv novice women Summer Wijkhuizen ended in 12th place. Well done Summer! Chiara Bellirano was 28th (I wonder if the Ballirano's are sisters!).:clap::cheer:

Niki even more on the roll at the Santa Claus Cup: she won the FS, and rose to 2nd place with a silver medal. Yay!🥈:points:
The other Dutch sr women were 15th (Saskia Oudejans), 16th (Lois Libregts), 18th (Imke Yagersma) and 20th (Alessia Ballirano). Well done to all! :cheer::cheer:

In jr women Lucca Dijkhuizen was 8th, and Kahlan Gooier 21st. Cheers! :hap10::hap10:

Niki was 8th at Golden Spin (7th in the FS), but she is suffering from a foot injury which is rather painful. She says she is happy to rest a while, and get it looked at properly. She also said she skated mostly on adrenalin in her FS. She did not wish to WD, due to the cost of getting there at all (and as many of you might know long track skating is highly sponsored, in short track skating the National team gets a basic income which isn't much but covers many expenses, and figure skaters don't get anything so they only have costs). I wish to cheer her for her fortitude, but I also hope she recovers well. Health before anything else!:hap10:

It's nice to see her back on the skating scene again, so I hope this is something she can recover from quickly.

No Grand Prix Final this weekend or a Challenger (Golden Spin was the last one of this season) but there will be the Edusport Trophy in Romania. Two Dutch women in Seniors: Roos van der Pas and Jolanda Vos, Chelsea and Sherim will be there to compete in Sr ID (and I sincerely hope that means Chelsea has fully recovered from her nasty fall at Bosphorus Cup), Angel Delavaque and Meagan Kelders will compete in Women Jrs, and Roos' sister Floor van der Pas will compete in Advanced Novice women. Quite a few Dutchies!

Floor van der Pas ended in fifth place in advanced novice girls at the Edusport Trophy. She did especially well in the SP (in 4th place). :cheer::cheer:

After the SP Angel Delavaque is in first place of Junior Women at the Edusport Trophy. :points:Let's hope she keeps it up in the FS. Megan Kelders is in 32nd place.:hap10::hap10:

Angel has kept it up! She skated an SB and was 2nd in the FS, and 2nd overall. Hurrah! Congratulations Angel. :points::points:
Meagan Kelders rose a place to end 31st. Also well done! :cheer::cheer:

Slightly OT, but I went to see Holiday on Ice and enjoyed a performance by Daria Danilova and Michel Tsiba as well. Part of their FS to The Chain...but because the rink is quite small they had to leave out certain parts - which of course is not a problem at a show performance. The death spiral.....

Edusport trophy is still on!
In Sr women Jolanda Vos was 8th and Roos van der Pas in 10th place. Well done young ladies! :cheer::cheer:
Chelsea and Sherim are in 5th place after the RD. Let's see what tomorrow brings. I will cheer them on! :hap10::hap10:

Chelsea and Sherim remained in 5th place, although their FD was the 4th of the field. Just not enough points (but the difference with numer 4 was small). Well done guys! :wave2::laugh3::cheer2:

Now I feel silly. I kept thinking it was a new Dutch pair.
Not silly at all. I am Dutch, and @FlossieH is British and we both are interested in each other's country, and their athletes. We are just happy (and I'm sure my British friend will agree) that you are involved too, and answer as many questions as you like, in any thread!

I would add that both teams seem to be competing at a similar level, both seem to be making a lot of progress this season, and of course both are from small feds so it's understandable there could be some confusion.

I'm really glad both feds have promising pairs and hope it will inspire more skaters from their countries in general.

I am finding myself adding skaters from many nations to my cheer list.
Niki's comeback has been a very pleasant surprise this year.

Remember I went slightly OT last week about Daria and Michel at Holiday on Ice? Well, so did our National Federation in an article about them, with much better pictures than I could ever make.

https://www.schaatsen.nl/nieuws/kunstschaatsers-duiken-op-bij-holiday-on-ice/

The article is in Dutch, discusses their experience with a much bigger audience than at most competitions, the relatively small rink so they left out throws, and also discusses the performance of 13-year-old Adv Novice Champion Lucca Dijkhuizen. I can't help but share, even if the article itself is in Dutch (and unreadable for many of you. Sorry about that). But the pictures are gorgeous.
