Elena Radionova

According to an article Lena is still dreaming of Beijing and I'm so excited. It really makes you wonder what she has planned, could it be she has something up her sleeve that she could be training rn or plans to?

I'm excited too. Although her chances of making it might not be that great, it's nice to see she is still skating and still has some motivation. I hope her injuries will heal quickly:pray: Also, is her season over or is it possible that she could compete at a domestic event like the Russian Cup Final?

I don't think she's gonna compete there, isn't art on ice right at that time? And maybe it was better for her to be out of the limelight for one season and let her focus on herself more

Ok, I was just curious, I don't want to have to wait until September or October to see her compete again

Lena's new interview! I would love to hear her as a commentator. I thought her answers were candid but also diplomatic. She has really become a well-spoken young lady! No mention about coming back to competition though :sad21:

Thanks Seruleane! But I realize that the entire interview was not translated...The original is here:

In this one, she is explicitly asked if commentating made her want to compete again, and she basically says not yet...
- At the Universiade there is no desire to wear skates and go on the ice?
- Not yet. I practice on the ice for an hour, two, a day. No, the desire did not appear. Maybe for now?

I'm not too surprised though. I'm glad we still get to see her at shows and as a commentator! I always knew that with Lena's charm and beauty, she would never be out of the spotlight for long! :luv17:

No, Lena said she sat (as a commentator) for an hour, two, a day. And she did not have the desire to go on the ice at the Universiade.

Thank you very much for clarifying! Still, it sounds like Lena doesn't have the desire to compete again--at least not yet...

Maybe she just doesn't have the desire to compete this season because of her injury. I just hope she will compete next season, maybe with a 3a or quad, how exciting would that be

With her good jumps technique, i don't expect her to do a quad... Because girls really need to cheat when doing quads, it's almost impossible to do it without exceeded prerotation, which lena doesn't.

By the way, many people find Lena's technique bad, because she was not consistent. She never cheats on jumps, that's why she was not consistent. She has one of best lutzes in current ladies, her other jumps techniques are really good aswell. Just look at her deep outside edge!

Also minimal pre rotation and toepick assistance:

Last season she fixed her flat edge on her flip too, but judges still called it! lol https://i.imgur.com/MepBW1o.jpg

So sad, good technique is never awarded. Please come back soon Lena!

She also has quite big jumps, so I think it might be possible, but then again, she usually has troubles with rotation and landing so it's iffy but if she can actually sort it out, she'd be unstoppable, considering her good ss and artistry :)
