Yeah, nerves and a bit of bad luck with the knee at Nationals. She was fab at the GPF though.Interesting how our expectations have risen... First it was, pleaseplease Liza just skate better than last season and make a statement. Then it was, finally, a clean long program! Then it was, make the team, make the team. Now it's become... you need to win! You need to bring triple axel!! Maybe the judges feel a bit of this too, and instead of just going, "Welcome back," they want to push her to bring the arsenal they know she has.
Btw, for anyone who didn't follow the event thread: B. Eurosport says they saw her landing excellent triple axels, like one of the guys. So her Instagram video isn't just a one-off. The problem is she's--oddly, for her--struggled to skate the free completely clean this year. Not sure if adding content will help. (On the other hand, I believe her FS mistakes were all from nerves, not ability).
Well ...there are other possibilities like moving the StSeq to follow her 3lz and then you'd see this.
3T-3T
3Lz
StSeq
FSSp(sit spin)
2a
LSp(layback)
CCoSp(Combination spin)
Just moving a StSeq around though can be very disruptive to choreo that is actually matched to the music so I doubt this layout will work as easily. It could drastically change the feel of the whole program which is why I think the first layout I offered is more likely.
But....She could move the StSeq around to preceed the final spin but I think this might put the 2a before the halfway point. Not a good decision IMO. And again....moving a StSeq is not ideal.

I guess this explains why J.Lo was so well received. Imagine if they were blasting the music instead...Sergei also said the music was too quiet yesterday, and I believe Elena Ilinykh did as well. What a shame. I guess they can't do anything about it?
I love that she is in control of all her jumps and gives more emphasis as she wants. Her spins and steps are harmonious with the music. She performs with confidence and assurance, which is very admirable. Scoring wise, with the less difficult jump contents, she almost tied with Radio. Liza was regal. I love that. This could explain why she couldn't quite time the axel to the halfway point... They seriously should've reconsidered, after Sergei and Elena I. both reported music problems.http://www.rsport.ru/figure_skating/20150129/802988242.html
STOCKHOLM, January 29 - R-Sport, Maria Vorobyov, Andrew Simonenko. Russian figure skater Elizabeth Tuktamysheva said it is too quiet sound of music at the Stockholm "Globen Arena", where the European championship , has deprived her feelings drive in the short program.
Tuktamysheva purely made a cascade of two triple toe loop, triple Lutz and Axel in the two and a half turns. The winner of the Grand Prix Final was 69.02 points, she is leading at the moment when left to speak three participants.
"Music is so quiet that even some drive in the program was not, is not the bolero, which we train, - said Tuktamysheva in conversation with journalists. - Even wonder how music can affect feelings."
Skater added that red stands arena has not prevented her to skate well. "Red grandstand initially surprised, but when she was trained and found that they do not crush and do not knock," - said Tuktamysheva.
Athlete noted that the axel in three and a half turns, over whom she had worked before the European Championship, while "not enough rehearsed" to include it in the short program. "We decided to just skate quietly," - she concluded.
Sergei also said the music was too quiet yesterday, and I believe Elena Ilinykh did as well. What a shame. I guess they can't do anything about it?

I thought her team was just being coy when they said they moved the axel for musical interpretation reasons... but now I see no other explanation. It's probably not where the 3A will eventually go, unless Liza is crazy and wants to try it after doing a lutz and a triple-triple. And she clearly doesn't have trouble doing the axel later; she hasn't missed it all season.

) Now if she'd been doing 3As left, right and centre in competitions for ages - but for her first competitive 3A? Does she need this particular win that much that she's willing to go for such a risky (that understement thing again... ) move?

Whether the levelled StSq is in its old place, or in the new place, I see no reason for Liza to put the 3A after it. She can do the 3A first, then 3T-3T, then do the 3Lz in the second half. (Or do the 3T-3T in second half like does in the LP). I really don't understand this change. Not that 10% bonus on a 2A is a lot, but what's the point of throwing points away thanks to the arena acoustics, of all things?Interesting. I actually wondered if the reason they moved the StSeq later was because it may have tired her out and made the 3a more difficult to attempt. So I guess my thinking was still that the move was to create a better situation to go for the big dog.
What's actually funny is that while I discuss the placement being for the purpose of creating the easiest path to a 3a.....I don't think well see her do it this season.![]()
All very good points. We're expecting too much. There's been a lot of discussion on the forum about putting the 3A into the free - but so far as I know, there has been no suggestion from either Liza or Mishin that this is even in consideration; it has only ever been discussed in regard to the SP. Is there some new info on the subject that I've missed? Because throwing an element like 3A into a program where she's never tried it before - even in training - sounds... er... daring. (Understatement.) Now if she'd been doing 3As left, right and centre in competitions for ages - but for her first competitive 3A? Does she need this particular win that much that she's willing to go for such a risky (that understement thing again... ) move?
ETA - Oh, and just to mention again... it's been only around three weeks since she first landed the 3A in practice. We do have high demands of Liza indeed if we are miffed (meant as humorous exaggeration) that she hasn't thrown the 3A into a competiton yet - talk about being penalised for excellence. But - on the other hand, this does mean quite the vote of confidence in Liza's abilities.![]()
Doesn't matter how it's scored or what place you get.
