Emilea and Vadym finished 2nd out of 20 in the FD, with a score of 118.87. This meant that they remained in 2nd position overall, with a score of 196.07.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread during the Warm-Up:

Awwww. Lovely waves from my kids during the introductions.

Wow! Talk about fast Twizzles when the cameras focussed on them.

And then when they finished, they practices their bows! Never seen anybody do that before!

Diana at first pronounced Emilea's name like Mark does, and immediately corrected herself. And then she proceeded to tell us a whole pile about them. I like it when a commentator does their homework. Diana is very professional.

Anyway, now we have to wait a while for their programme.

Can't wait to see it!

This is where I'm grateful that Diana doesn't talk during the programmes like Mark does. He really spoiled the magical moment last week.

And that first section was magical this week too.

For a second I thought Vadym wasn't going to catch Emilea at the change of music. But he did beautifully.

That exit from the Twizzles always catches me out.

I think this is the best I have ever seen them.

They go into a considerable lead of both FS and overall.

To which I replied:

I just checked.

Their SD from the 2023 Golden Spin Of Zagreb is their ISU PB, scoring 1.03 points more than their SD here. Their Absolute PB, from Eastern Sectionals in 2022, is 2.38 points higher than their SD here.

But the FD and overall scores here are ISU PB's. And they are just a sliver under their Absolute PB's from 2023 Nationals.

So, yep, I was right when I said that today was the best I had ever seen this programme!

Emilea and Vadym finished the Free Dance 2.66 points behind 1st position, Evgeniia LOPAREVA / Geoffrey BRISSAUD (FRA), and 7.36 points ahead of 3rd position, Hannah LIM / Ye QUAN (KOR).

Overall, Emilea and Vadym finished 5.82 points behind 1st position, Lopareva / Brissaud, and 10.45 points ahead of 3rd position, Lim / Quan.

What a week they have had. Less than a point off winning a medal in Finland. Winning the Silver Medal in Poland. Achieving new ISU PB's for the FS and overall in Poland. And, most important of all, going home with three of @NoNameFace's beautiful flower crowns!

I'm not sure if they have any more competitions between now and Nationals, but I hope they carry on this run into them!

Thank you, again, for the praise.
The way Emilea reacted about crowns...I haven't seen anything like this. I always treat them as kind gesture to say my 'thank you' to skaters through something handmade, but she truly made it into something bigger, more meaningful. That IG story with her wearing the crown in the bus to hotel, captioned as "never taking off this thing" truly made me cry while I got back to the hotel on Sunday, maybe also because things are not going so great in my life and that sort of kindness from a skater just makes the difference for me.
In Warsaw, I knew I want to make a set for both - and I did it . So glad they had good time during those 2 weeks and their skating made me pretty much a fan

They discuss their short and long term goals, history, programs, and how the war in Ukraine affects Vadym and his family.

Take note - Emi and Vadym love their fans and are happy to do selfies and interact with them at competitions. ”Don’t be shy,” Vadym says. ( But we already knew that. @NoNameFace )

Emilea and Vadym are back in action today at the American Championships in Wichita, Kansas.

The Short Dance is due to start at 16:19:00 CST (Fri 17:19:00 EDT / Fri 22:19:00 GMT / Sat 00:19:00 EET). So 10 hours from now.

Emilea and Vadym will be the 12th partnership to start. So, second partnership in Group 3 (and second partnership to go after the resurfacing).

The Group 3 Warm-Up is due to start at 17:59:00 CST (Fri 18:59:00 EDT / Fri 23:59:00 GMT / Sat 01:59:00 EET). So 11h 40m from now.

Emilea and Vadym are due to start at 18:12:00 CST (Fri 19:12:00 EDT / Sat 00:12:00 GMT / Sat 02:12:00 EET). So 11h 53m from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before them withdraws.

Emilea and Vadym finished 3rd out of 15 in the Short Dance, with a score of 82.13.

Unfortunately, due to living outside America, I was not able to watch any of the action from Wichita. (Not that it would have made any difference if there hadn't been geo-blocking, as I was asleep by the time the Ice Dancers started anyway).

Emi and Vadym knocked it out of the park! I always felt that RD had the potential to go into the 80s.

Happy the top teams all skated well. The fight for silver/bronze will be fierce in the FD.

And to complete the story of what happened, here are a few comments posted after subsequent partnerships. The first few were after Caroline GREEN / Michael PARSONS:

Totally agree with Ben - skating wise, Caroline and Michael are the class of the field so far, but I definitely enjoyed Emilea and Vadym's program more. The scores are so close between the two teams - it looks like they'll tie, in which case Emilea and Vadym will be counted ahead of them because they won on TES.

I think Z/K will maintain their lead.

That’s the first time I recall seeing a tie in ice dance. Crazy!

That was nice. I still think the "performance" of the night was Z/K? But C/B were nice, right?

Emilea and Vadym are currently 0.73 points behind 2nd position, Christina CARREIRA (SC of New York) / Anthony PONOMARENKO (SC of San Francisco), and tied on TSS with Caroline GREEN (Pavilion SC of Cleveland Heights) / Michael PARSONS (Washington FSC). The two partnerships are 4.75 points ahead of 4th position, Oona BROWN (SC of New York) / Gage BROWN (SC of New York).

This is a very intersting situation.

So, let's hope they do have a good Free Dance!

Congratulations to Emi and Vadym who skated lights out at the U.S. Nationals in the RD last night. Despite recovering from illness (Emi from pneumonia, Vadym from an unnamed illness..a cold?), they had their best performance to date of their BeeGees disco dance, scoring a whopping 82.13 points, a career best.

They are in a numerical tie for third with Green/Parsons, less than one point out of second behind Carreira/Ponomarenko. But because Emi and Vadym had the higher tech score, they are officially ranked third over their rivals.

They were thrilled to bits in the K&C.

On to the free dance! Fingers, toes and eyes crossed they medal

PS: I originally watched the competition on my Peacock livestream. I just watched my recording of the NBC/USA Network broadcast which had lots of short videos of Emi and Vadym arriving, hanging backstage and warming up. There’s the sweetest snippet of them right before they take the ice where Vadym gives Emmy a (very chaste) good luck kiss.

At least yesterday it was a case that I remembered to make out the post first thing in the morning, but just forgot to post it until half an hour before the competition started.

By the way, because I forgot to post my predictions for Canadian Nationals last week, I decided I had nothing to lose and I put Emilea and Vadym down for the win.

After reading what you wrote about how they got on, I am starting to think that this scenario might not have been entirely out of the question had they been fully healthy leading up to this...

Oh, I hope they can hold on and win a medal! In fact, I hope they upgrade the colour, because they are currently only 0.73 points behind 2nd position!

I thought Vadym looked a bit pale during practice earlier in the week. I even checked to see if they’d withdrawn. But they both looked fairly chipper backstage during the competition - although Vadym was televised blowing his nose (!) You couldn’t tell from their performance they were recovering from anything. Vadym said adrenaline carried him through. I hope he’s got more gas in the tank for the FD! The only time I ever had pneumonia I was exhausted for 6 weeks.

BTW, Gabriella Papadakis was one of the commentators on NBC last night and she loved them! I so wish there was a way for non USA fans to see this telecast
