You remember very right. The reason is not so much financial as the fact that in other skating sports (long- and short track) the Netherlands is quite successfull, so it would be embarassing if in FS they don't even get the 14th place. And if I remember right, the Netherlands also have internal benchmark for their pairs team....who are also dealing with injuries.
Could someone tell me another reason, other than financial that is, as to why European NOCs want to limit participation to the OLYMPIC GAMES of their qualified athletes, especially as the WOG is in Milano, Italy?! Europe!!!!
Will update the list with @CaroLiza_fan' s info regarding Stefania's status when I get home from work
This is what bothers me the most. Why can't they back their athletes if they qualify...Instead of being proud that a pairs team has qualified by the international standards to go to the OG for the first time in history!
You are in need of a certain Angel who will win medals and change public opinion about figure skatingYou remember very right. Getting back to finances: in long track they have generous sponsors/endorsements, in short track the National team members receive an income they can live on, it is only in FS skaters old enough to study have to use student grants and/or have to teach themselves or have another job to cover costs. Very fair 9sorry to be so sarcastic): you get less, but you still have to score high enough to go to the OG.

Sadly...yes. As you've noticed, we've got the angel (Angel Delavaque). You are in need of a certain Angel who will win medals and change public opinion about figure skating
Although, to steel attention from speed skating and short track in Netherlands... I'm afraid one Angel won't be enough. You might need at least the whole Holy Trinity![]()

Ice is slippery, so at the end I included the first 4 alternates as well

It´s Yuka and Juho unfortunately, according to Finnish media. The good news is they aim for 2030. Apparently the same media says Milla is going to get her decision on citizenship in mid December, but Swedish media seems more uncertain about when this will happen.Milla just got upgraded on the citizenship table, as per the latest info from Swedish media, hoping the Swedish NOC will not impede them

Half of me is crying for Yuka and Juho, if it is indeed the Finish 2nd quota, but I will be thankful if the main reason is red tape, and not an injury![]()

...but it seems that the man in the partnership does not have citizenship. I guess making the Europeans was the goal for this new-ish team.

Golubeva made an Instagram post about what's been going on. Citizenship is almost complete and they had to deal with injuries.Does anyone know what is going on with the Australian pair? As far as I can tell, they have only competed once this season and WD after the short programme. Are they going to be fit to compete at the Olympics? Does Anastasia Golubeva have citizenship?
