Europeans Ladies' Short

Scandalous marks for lepisto.....waay too high! she only did triple toe double toe....come on judges!!!!
Jenna McKorkell was actually better!

Wow, what a run today. We have been here for what, 3 hours.
Phew ! But that was good though...

Ah ah, true, I actually watched the whole competition, so 5 hours...I'm more exhausted then the athletes!:)

It was really enjoyable. I am impressed! What perhaps some of these ladies should try is working with different people, go to someone who can actually help them with their jumps. You see lots of ladies who kind of stagnate at one level - they are talented, but perhaps should try for a change.

Impressed, nonetheless. Not a splatfest at all, nice programs and ideas.

I don't think the marks for Lepistö are outrageously high. Katrina Hacker got similar marks at US nationals with similar jump content. Laura executes all her elements very well and she has excellent skating skills.

Sarah Meier only did a double salchow and a triple lutz-double toe.

This is really the breakthrough year for Lepisto! (Sp-wise at least:p) Can she skate clean lp tomorrow? Great to see Carolina lead here, but somehow I don't see her winning the whole thing this year. Anyone other than Carolina will be a surprise winner. Who's going to be that lucky lady? go Sarah Meier!

Us nationals are always overmarked (not only IMO)....
What is scandalous is that it's not like she attacked her program, and she's not even this big of an interpreter...it was kind of average. The commentators were putting her behind sebestyen....And I would have as well.
Don't forget that she got a higher tech than Kostner who had a triple triple + double lutz...it is still inferior to this....and it should have been inferior overall to sarah Meier... whatever, it's clear finnish ladies are being held up bc next euros are in Finland....

Yeah, but Kostner's double axel was iffy. I bet she got -GOE for it and the lutz too.

I don't think the Finnish ladies are being held up at all. If you say Laura didn't attack her program, then that would show up in the PCS, which are in fact lower than the other top ladies. But she did all her elements very well. There are two ways of getting points, quality and difficulty and she went for the quality.

As for Sebestyen, she singled the double axel which is mandatory for the SP. IIRC, that's mandatory -GOE.

Well, it was a great competition. Glad it was no splatfest like the Men competition.

I was very impressed with Lepisto. She is so smooth, every move she makes looks beautiful. Same with Vahamaa, where did she come from? She is gorgeous! Shame she missed her combo, she could have made the top ten. She is very young and yet she has beautiful lines and musicality.

Good for Korpi too, shows that her sucess last year wasn't a fluke or a medal by default. Good for her.

I really like Gedevanishvili. Her program had the potential to be brilliant because it was beautifully choreographed and the music suited her style. I wish she would hit those jumps though.

I didn't know Brian was dating Valentina! Back off *****, he's mineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, actually I think she is a beautiful sassy girl , Brian has very good taste. And kissing while skating is so romantic so I was like awwwwwwwww when I saw it. Good for them!

Agree. Laura executes everything perfectly. Watching her is like watching ice-princessy, less mature Kwan.

Well, I don't like her at all...despite her good posture and upper body positions I find her very mechanical (I couldn't describe it in another way, sorry...this is not the right word...)
Let's do the comparison with Korpi: there is a HUGE difference in attack and interpretation- just about there on pcs...but can someone explain me why Kiira has lower tech and she did a triple lutz double toe + triple loop vs triple TOE double toe + tripel lutz...quality on spirals and spins is equal....this is iffy to me...

Kiira's spiral sequence only got level 1, so she lost some points there. Spins we also bit slow today, so maybe not the best levels.

I am sure that Laura got high levels for spins and steps, and massive GOE for her jumps. They are as smooth as butter, evem if not the highest difficulty.

It all comes down to levels. I'd say check her protocols from SC, where she beat everyone in the SP, to get an idea where those marks are coming from (I know she did a 3-3 there, but she also got a higher mark by over 2 points, so her score here sounds about right.)

and don't forget guys, she IS the Finland National Champ!

I would also add that Laura really beats Kiira in skating skills and flow. Both of them interpret very well but with different style. I thought Kiira looked very nervous today.

And this comes from huge Kiira fan...

And since when really clean but less difficult jumps are being rewarded?? This is the first time I see that in years...really....

Protocols not up yet, I really want to see them...
