Evan looking good!!!!

With his Nationals performances he would have stood on the Worlds podium, wouldn´t he?

No. You add points for his mistakes in the long program at Worlds and he still doesnt get the score he needs to medal, even if you add a bit of PCS and some minor GOE. That was even with all of Lambiel's mistakes, he still would have had the score to win the bronze over a clean Lysacek since he is that much better. Evan's GOE and PCS would be beat by better skaters like Lambiel, Takahashi, Joubert at Worlds, and quite obviously were. Dont be fooled by his Nationals score. That was pure homer judging, and he isnt capable of getting a score anywhere close to that outside the U.S unless he improves drasticaly.

I´m not fooled by Evan´s 2007 Nationals scores, was not even thinking of them. My opinion is based on his fantastic performances there. He had such a fire, power and will to win the competition.... Unfortunately a pale copy of that Evan appeared at Worlds.

Weir is a three time National champion and so far has not managed to stand on the Worlds podium even once (the US silver medalist did it twice). After Todd won the Worlds in 1996, I think that from other US skaters only Timothy (once) and Evan (twice) have stood on the Worlds podium ...

I'm not in a position to discuss Evan's performances at 2007's Worlds, but am here to add that Mike Weiss is a two time World bronze medalist (1999 and 2000).

Aaah, so sorry, I forgot him, although he is one of my favourites, LOL.

Oh, Jaana, you are most certainly forgiven! Oh, forgive me on this one too. Rudy Galindo won the World bronze medal in 1996!

IMHO, I think it's a great accomplishment to win a national title (or multiple ones). How many skaters are there in the world who manage to achieve that in their respective countries?

Tim's been on the podium twice (2002 and 2003). Actually a US man has been on the podium every year from 95-07 except for 2004, and in 1996 there were 2 US men on the podium (Eldredge and Galindo).

Thanks for the welcome, Mathman.

Thanks for the warning I'll stay out of the middle!

It's great to find avowed Evan fans here!! I'll be at Skate America to watch him start his season and can't wait to see what he brings to the ice this year!!

Whatever it is, it's sure to be uniquely his and amazing to see!!!! :agree:

I am so envious right now! I will be watching live, but will you be watching the SP? when do does the event begin? I am waiting for the first dances/SP to start!!!

Yes, we have all events tickets and will be there in time for the SP, hopefully for the CD too.

The CD starts Fri at 6 pm.
Men's SP starts at 9:10 pm.

Plan to be at all the men's practices after that too and will try to get to other practice sessions as well.

Our tickets are in the corner opposite the entrance gate.

This is my first live competition and I'm so excited I feel like I could fly to Reading without the plane.
