Performances from next stage

This time it was more obvious that Zhenya is lacking shape. He revealed in an interview that his still has pain on the toe jumps.

Of the good, the 3As were much better this time.

I also like the fact he landed 4Los at both events, he used to have kind of a mental block on this jump.

It's only now that I noticed a detail in the short program, he unbuttons his sleaves in the second half of the program.

There's still not much to say about the free program yet. The spins were much better this time, but he still didn't have the energy for the choreography and steps.

In an interview, Zhenya said that he was shocked that he was able to win two silver medals in his current shape. After the series, he is third in the standings.

Hopefully preparations for nationals go well.

So far best SP Zhenya ever had at Nationals 🙂

Good luck in the free!
The best shape I've ever seen from Zhenya. Normally I think that X or Z could be done better this was definitely absolute maximum at the moment. Absolute confidence, he never hesitated for a moment in any program. A bit sad that it didn't result in another title but now Zhenya got all kind of medal from nationals. 🥇🥇🥉🥈

Somehow the injury led to the return of 4Lo and finally that jump has become very reliable (I've been waiting for this for 5 years haha). It's very spectacular when done, for sure.

I wonder what happens to the 4F. It was very stable but has been missing since the injury. However, Kolyada has already said that Zhenya will train free skate with 5 quads.

Sadly no new exhibition this time. But this is understandable in the current circumstances.

Zhenya performed two new exhibitions made for a Christmas show

The first one was based on a famous Russian cartoon

The second one was a highlight of the entire event. The rock SP wasn't enough so he got a rock exhibition, too.

I haven't posted here in a while because of being very busy. Time to fix that. :)

A lot of things happened last two month.

First, jumping championships. Unfortunately, individual event didn't go as planned and Zhenya didn't pass first round. But Zhenya put a lot of effort preparing for a new duet category with Sofia Muravieva. He demonstrated 3Lz which he has been re-learning for a while. Zhenya and Sofia performed some really beautiful side-by-side combos and won silver.

Next, St Petersburg Championships. Unfortunately, because of working on Lutz and flip for jumping championships, Zhenya injured his foot. However, he still decided to please the crowd and perform without much preparation. His short program was superb, it had even more details than in the first half of the season. In the free skate, he wanted to try five quads and include the flip but the performance didn't work out. Zhenya still won as there were no strong competitors this year.

This season juniors and seniors weren't separated in Russian Grand Prix Final.

Zhenya came to the boards to support his training mates German Lenkov and Roman Khamzin.

In the actual event, SP was cleanish. Though Zhenya was only 4th because of lower BV. In the free skate, Zhenya attempted to execute his plan to open with a 4Lz. But it didn't work out in the warm-up, so he had to perform four quads. What's more, Zhenya didn't even attempt 4Lo during warm-up. But everything went well, considering his injury, and Zhenya won another silver medal this season.

Right after Russian Grand Prix Final, Zhenya took part in a show dedicated to Mishin's 85th anniversary.

He made a new exhibition based on Chainsaw Man anime.

And a five-quad skate at Channel One Cup to end the season!

We finally saw quad flip back. There's still a lot of work to be done but Zhenya really wanted landing this layout in competition.
