Well, just saying, but I have a feeling that this was actually what she planned. Zhenya-like, in some sort of out-of-the-blue announcement on instagram, maybe with a video attached to it and a cheeky comment underneath. A la:

“What, you thought it would be Misha Ge to choreograph the SP? Hah-hah, good one, try again!“

Averbukh just couldn‘t contain himself. What a shame. We would’ve collectively died in shock. :laugh:

Averbukh at TCC, who would have thought. I bet he is really happy to work with Zhenya again, seeing that she is his muse after all.

The man just love to talk. And I am not accusing him or anything. I remember last year before Worlds, everyone in RusFed was silent, well, some people said that nothing had changed and Zhenya would go. He was the only one like "There's no way Zhenya is going, she can barely walk and left to Germany to see her doctor." Zhenya
officially withdrew like 10 days after that.
 
I know a lot of people don't want Averbukh to choreograph anything for personal reasons but it's okay to me. He was supportive of her when she left Russia and throughout the season, but did make some criticisms at the end of the season. Regardless, he was never someone who was vile just for the sake of being vile like some others were. I think his criticisms were unfair and it made me upset because I was under the impression he was entirely supportive, but it wasn't the worst either. If Zhenya can forgive him I think it's good for her. While some people may not like his choreo, I always appreciated it and I think it's important for Zhenya to keep some Russian influence in her skating, too. I'm sure she thinks so as well. I actually think his choreography (while it got redundant) showed off her strengths really well, and with her improving and having other influences now too, I think they could create something great together. We'll see.
 
My thoughts on potential Averbukh content (looking past his personal shortcomings :dev2:):

TBH, he's actually a pretty good choreographer. Aside from pantomime and clinical death and what not, the programs were nice to look at, lots of transitions, unique moves etc. Looking at other people he choreographed for, he really does seem to pick pieces that show off the skater's strengths (ie. I LOVED Maxim Kovtun's Bahamut SP). & no, he doesn't force everyone to pantomime, so I'm hoping he drops that for Evgenia (although we will see what influences were Aver's and which her coaches)

On the other hand, I'm a bit disappointed on the SP choice just because he usually chooses more unique pieces of music and exogenesis has been WIDELY used, but at the same time I'm sure he's well aware of potential nike ad content, so I'm hoping he delivers quality choreo (I'm sorry but Aver really looks out for himself first, and others second).

However, Aver doing SP is speculation and no official info has come out yet, so we will wait for more info :) so many skaters literally fly to TCC for choreo and Zhenya pleaseeee use Shae Lynn for something I'm begging you:pray::pray::pray:
 
Personally, Anna Karenina, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close choreography were sensational.
Pantomime? Perfect.
A little drama? Checked.
Emotional climax? 100% sure.
 
I have to agree Averbukh's cheorography is actually very good and I enjoy it.I'm sure he understands English so he really had no excuse for Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close which would have been perfect without the voice overs, what were you thinking, man?!

If he is cheorographing Zhenya's new SP I'm interested to see what he brings!
 
I am actually quite excited about this partnership. What drew me in to Zhenya was the unique programs. A lot of people are hating on the pantomime, but I don't and I wouldn't call it that. I love programs that have some sort of story behind them, maybe because Zhenya was the first one I started following and that's the type of programs she had at the time. I think my most watched program after Anna Karenina at the Olympics is her SP at Worlds 2017. I loved everything about it: the choreography, the story, the program itself and the dress. I'm nostalgic for Olga's dresses :laugh:
If they make a story-like program again, I think that's to her benefit since she can focus on that in order to be less stressed.

According to Wikipedia, Twitter and many sources, Averbukh took part in choreo together with Daniil.
Firstly, she planned to skate Anna Karenina as ex and Averbukh's The Leftover as FS, then she changed her mind.
These 2 programs shared some similarities so I do believe Anna Karenina also was influenced by Averbukh.

I think the pantomime and the theatrical came from Tutberidze largely. And it worked.
 
I like the pantomime, I think Averbukh’s programs were beautiful and worked very well for her. I prefer those programs over Libertango, actually. I don’t get why people hate the pantomime so much. And I think the 9/11 program worked, the voices weren’t a problem for me. But I guess it’s all a matter of opinion.

Not bad, not bad. I was surprised that her flip is higher than the Salchow, but it still makes sense. It would be nice to see someone measure the distance too because some jump more horizontal than vertical.

Off-topic, Polina T. has such great jumps and I just miss her :(
