Evgenia Medvedeva

As for videos I'm afraid my English is not well enough but if something very interesting comes up I I will be happy to join and help :)

My English only allows me to judge that yours is not worse. :)

looks like almost every russian tries to translate something when joins this forum
i also did some translations, Zagitova's story as far as i remember :)

Wow, she really does have a champion's character and attitude - it's incredible to see how strong she is when she manages to be so bubbly too!

-How many people did ask you for a selfie at the entrance to the cinema?
-No one. I am rarely recognized. I do not feel like celebrity at all.

Maybe I shouldn't be at this point, but I'm still surprised when I hear her answer to a question like this. I know a number of Russian members on the forum have stated that figure skating is not a very popular sport in Russia, but do you think her experience will change significantly after February if Evgenia has the success that we all expect her to have? I know that Julia was bombarded with attention after 2014 that had very negative effects on her. Does anyone see this happening to Evgenia? She seems to have a very different personality and character than Lipnitskaya. I certainly hope it doesn't change her negatively. All the success she's had the last few seasons doesn't seem to have affected her at all.

I think Eteri learnt a lot from Julia's experience, and how the Russian public reacts to an Olympic medalist in public. I suspect she has done a lot of work with Evgenia over the last few seasons when it became obvious she was the leading lady in figure skating, with a an excellent shot at a medal, to help keep her feet on the ground.

It makes me wonder about Alina, she is so young and came out of no where last year, is she as ready to be under the worlds scrutiny in February? So far this season she has done well, but still looks incredibly nervous when skating.

It's a massive amount of pressure for Evgenia to be expected to deliver a gold medal for Russia, she truly is mentally strong to hold it together at all every time she steps on the ice, knowing there are people who wish she would falter and lose top place on the podium.

It means FS is more popular than snowboarding or short track, but it can't be compared with hockey or football with real celebrities. A skater becomes really popular only after he wins an Olympic medal. I think among all Russians Lipnitskaya is still 10 times more popular than Medvedeva.

Yes, public attention has always been making Yulya nervous, while Zhenya bathes in attention.

It’s understandable why FS isn’t that popular in Russia as many outsiders think. The macho view is still strong. At least she’s a lady, and people tend to associate skating with ladies, so there’s room for them to celebrate and admire her. But I am fine if the hype is not over the top. Too much attention isn’t fun

Evgenia better bring her A-game to the final, Alina just scored 151 in the free skate at IdF. If Alina sorts her sp issues out, it'll be interesting to see them face off in seniors for the first time, performing both sp and lp (I don't count Japan open).

Evgenia has said multiple times that she likes the competition in Russia, and she knows exactly what Alina is capable of on her best day. So I hope she thrives under the pressure (I'll be nervous enough for both of us!) :drama:

I'm already nervous... I preferred when they were competing separately and both able to win. :( My fave is Evgenia and I think it's clear she's overall better than Alina (way better skating skills, musicality and better, bigger jumps when completed well). That said, if Alina skates clean, Evgenia can't afford two mistakes, no way. She might even beat Alina with one mistake (her score with a fall is just 1 point below Alina on her best day), but with two...

I just hope Evgenia doesn't doubt herself - she can skate clean, she can win and honestly she deserves to. :cheer: And I hope they stay good friends as they were even though now they are rivals :)

This is my 100th post on this forum, so of course I have to dedicate it to Zhenya - the girl's the reason I really fell in love with figure skating. I was so amazed by how she's able to do so many jumps with arms above her head, do jaw-dropping combos, and skate so well to the music. I sometimes say it feels like she doesn't just skate to the music, but that she conducts the music to play to her skating. :luv17: :points:

So thank you Evgenia for inspiring me not only with your breathtaking skating, but also your kind spirit and determination :thank:

Evgenia trains with Alina so I'm sure she knows that she's her biggest threat. That said, if Evgenia skates clean she is still the clear winner, so I wish her 2 amazing programs at GPF! Bring it girl! :hap10:

If there is any budding rivalry between Evgenia and Alina, I think this is the key. Evgenia has already proven that she is both mentally and emotionally secure while on the ice. Alina has not proven this with any consistency yet (especially in regard to her short program). Although Evgenia has more pressure on her than anybody (she’s the one expected to win the gold in February), Alina is probably the one feeling more pressure than anybody (this is her first senior season in an Olympic year, and with all the talent she has she’s expected to be at least near the top of the podium). And the pressure is only going to increase beginning at the Grand Prix Final. Anything can happen on the ice, but I could see Alina having a meltdown long before I see Evgenia having a meltdown costing her significant points. Evgenia’s human, she could falter, but as the cliché goes, I’ll believe it when I see it! ;)

And a very Happy Birthday to our special young lady! :yahoo:

Happy birthday to my sweet princess Evgenia! :luv17: This past year of being a fan has been absolutely wonderful, I'm so happy and lucky that I was able to get to know this amazing human being by the name of Evgenia Medvedeva. May this season bring you nothing but happiness and good feelings, I'll be cheering you on from the sidelines! :yahoo:

Happy Birthday to our wonderful Tsarina Evgenia Medvedeva!!
A skater we're truly blessed to have in our world, and a girl with a lovely personality and an adorable dose of humility and humor.
Maybe 18 be everything you've always hoped it to be and may it hold as much good as the years before it!

We love you Zhenya!!!!
:love::love::love:
