Evgenia Medvedeva

Practice before a competition, I think it was at Rostelecom last season since the user was from Russia or Euros this year

Ah yes, you are right. She did give her best to make the right edge at practices, but in competitions she used to get nervous and preferred not to fall in the first place.

EDIT: If you rewatch her WE-FS you can easily see that she got a better edge at the time, still not an outside one, but it wasn't an e. Then next season they changed to that awkward loop-like entry and it started to look worse. And the injury this year didn't help her. But anyway, it's all in the past now! She has a new coach, obviously doing changes. I am hoping for the best :yahoo:

Courtney Hicks also did a similar thing in which after her injury she built up her lutz from singles and doubles back up to triples so Zhenya is maybe doing a smiliar thing in her recovery. I do feel like this is a very deliberate choice and a statement though to show that she is working on her lutz because normally she never jumps a lutz in exhibitions so her doing one here that is apparenta a proper lutz is her way of announcing to the world that she is working on fixing it without needing to say a thing.

LOL, Courtney actually just posted this: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bk6GjNSA-JM/?hl=en&taken-by=courtneynhicks

And I remember that Courtney posted a video about her working on the flutz and Zhenya actually posted a comment "teach me." People thought she was responding to some shade on the thread (and maybe she still was), but now I'm thinking that she was for real. https://www.instagram.com/p/BdWV0LOBJXN/?hl=en&taken-by=courtneynhicks

In any case, I'm encouraged to hear the news! Go Zhenya!!

So in the opening she did a triple with tano cleanly and I’m not sure what it is but it’s probably a loop or salchow but I recorded the opening so I can always review it later.

First of all let me say that this spin is absolutely beautiful and I really enjoyed the program!

About the Lutz: it seems better than it was last year, this would probbaly be a ! instead of e - although the angle doesn't really help. I'm really happy that she's working on it and bringing it in EX to also work on her nerves about this jump which seem to also affect the edge. I wish she would drop the tano on the Lutz because I honestly don't think it helps her though. She should focus on the jump only :)

Her spins definitely had more speed, I don't remember her spinning that fast ever. Also, she has improved the 3S - the achsis was great. Her jumps don't look that muscled any more - even not at all. I guess encreasing the calorie intace does help. And about the Lz - yes, she lost the edge but this was her best Lz jump in comparison to the past 2 seasons. And the fact that she fell shows that she tried to keep the right edge. But they really should try giving up this entry, I don't know if it helps her that much.

I‘m a little confused. This was clearly a 3Lz attempt with a tano. Where‘s the 2Lz? Was it another program? And the edge, sadly, was inside again or at least flat (can‘t tell from that angle) Why doesn‘t she just drop the tano?? Still, good that she‘s adding it to her exhibition programs, it will help her get more comfortable with it.

Oh and I don‘t want to focus solely on the lutz again, so: Beautiful program. Especially the spins looked really good, fast and good positions. The jumps are getting better, too. Not as muscled. Having my fingers crossed that she‘ll improve even more until the test skates.

I don't think it was her best lutz attempt ever tbf! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRyl9ROnzec here for example the edge is pretty much flat, while in this most recent EX looking at it in slow mo she turned on the wrong edge at the last second.

But that's okay, it's a work in progress and nobody can fix their edge issues in 3 weeks, that would be miraculous ;)

Besides, if her 2Lz was good, we surely can hope to see improvements on her 3Lz as well during next season.

Yes, you are right - I looked it on my computer at slow motion. It was an e. It will be a long road to walk but eventually one day she'll manage to improve it. I am not disappointed because it wasn't realostic to change such a mistake in only 3-4 weeks. I am even positive now because I definitely see some changes in her overall skating! Is it just me - or she doesn't look like she's struggling with gliding and gaining speed any more?

Precisely! Plus, the reports from yesterday talked about a clean 2Lz, which is not the one we saw today, so perhaps she is seeing better results on the double that she now needs to work to apply to the triple ;)

She definitely seems faster! She's also doing a longer spread eagle and better/faster spins :luv17:

When she was with Eteri and used to do her lutz without the tano, it was so much better. I wonder if it's too ingrained in her to change right now...

I was just wondering but do you think when she did the double lutz she initially planned to do a triple but popped it because when she took off early enough that her edge didn’t change she didn’t have quite enough momentum for a triple. Not sure just wondering why she changed her program for the second day—perhaps it was just she landed it clean and thought she might as well try for a triple. Are there anymore shows or is this it until test skates

Overall i like it more than it was by Heroes and Future. The 3S and the 3Lo are ready for competition (her 3S:love:). Her gliding over the ice looks also better than in Heroes and Future. About the Lz, i agree with the post above. She should jump only 2Lz for the coming training weeks.
