Kinda off topic, but is anyone else as excited as me when thinking about the future interactions between Brian, Tracy and Evgenia? Especially in the K&C!![]()

obstacles course. Success in second attempt![]()

I really hope their rivalry will last for at least another 4-year period. I sympathize very much with both of them, and I wouldn't like any of them - of course, I'm mostly talking about Zhenya Medvedeva - to end her career after this season. Unfortunately, the injury she had in the beginning of the season - it wasn't mid-season, there was information that she had problems with her left foot in the end of September and she skated two Grand-Prix competitions with it - unfortunately, it didn't allow her to perform at her 100% on the Olympics and didn't allow her to skate at the Worlds. I consider Zhenya the undoubted number 1 in the world. Which didn't prevent Alina from being the best at the Olympics. And I would really like them both to keep on skating.
I sympathize Zhenya a little more, and let me explain why. First, we are well-acquainted. With Alina, we only say hi to each other. Second, I, probably as well as many specialists, pay huge tribute to a person who achieves everything mostly with his stubbornness. In my opinion, Alina is somewhat more gifted. Speaking of talent - though we can argue which traits comprise talent - Alina is more predisposed to jumps, she's younger, she approached the Olympics in the age when her body didn't change much yet, while Medvedeva - I've talked with her coaches and saw her in training - she gets into shape very slowly during a week and loses it very quickly. Her coach Sergei Dudakov said they train 6 days a week, and on Monday and Tuesday Zhenya is weaker than on Friday and Saturday. She gains it during a week and loses a lot during a single day off, it's a feature of her body. That's what Americans call "self-made man", the ability to focus when it counts, to be ready any time to keep the bar of the strongest athlete in the world, without having cat's grace of Kaetlyn Osmond or the jumping ability of Alina Zagitova and very young Sasha Trusova - that's what I admire.
Moreover, Zhenya is a very nice person. She's wonderful, very smart. Now she's a little less outspoken with journalists, but it's understandable, considering all this crazy attention to her. All in all, in this rivalry, my sympathy is on Zhenya's side. Though again, this doesn't not negate the fact that Alina is rightfully the Olympic champion.
